Funnily enough, he's about the only young player Carlo has given enough chances to..

They're completely different players really. Sidwell gets into the Villa team, Gourcuff wouldn't. But Gourcuff would(should) get into the Milan team, while Sidwell wouldn't.

i could easily see him starting for villa

young-barrry-gourcuff-agbonlahor

with sidwell, reo-coker or even barry hodling, carew the lone man.

here...for all the non believers, who have 15 minutes...here is a display of the sort of stuff we could have seen him do in our shirt if he had just played. he gave such a small glimpse of his dribbling technique, and barely ever got to take a set piece, or play for more than 30 minutes in a match...just shows what confidence can do for a player.

**However, I will concede this point. He still holds the ball for too long. this was his problem while he played here in italy, he tries to be too intricate. In France that's fine..here he needs to be more compact, and learn when to use his dribbling..No better player to learn that from than clarence..**

These videos show every single facet of his game that we never got to see. great videos, despite the selection of soundtrack..

He's good in france, yes. but are the defenders in france not giving him more time on the ball to do stuff? Has his second touch improved drastically?

Sorry, guys. I'm still not convinced.

you should see him dance circles, literally, against chelsea. takes on their rear guard with ease..and then absolutely embarrasses john terry, bosingwa, and obi mikel to the point of terry losing his cool and getting a yellow.

Then, not to mention his amazing turn and shoot against AS roma where he completely shrugged off Panucci and Taddei.

his goal in the france shirt from 35? or his countless other long bombs..he is a completely useful player if he's comfortable where he's playing..

..in france. I still belive 15 minutes is enough to show off. He did. By stealing inches from the corner kicks.

Sorry, still not a fan. He's good - didn't deny that - but good enough to build a team around? That's the setup he has at Bordeaux and, to a lesser degree, the French NT. That's also why he had issues at Milan. I don't honestly see Milan chucking out the midfield to build a new one around a 22 year old Frenchman with an attitude.

He's looked very good in fairness to him. But how many times do we say that about players outside the top 4 leagues, only for them to suck in the big time?

geez. tough crowd..i mean this is the risk you run when you sign ANY talent from a foreign league. I think his performance for the NT should calm a lot of criticisms that are levied against him. I would disagree with the idea that the NT is built around him, rather he was one of many players tried out in the zizou role by domenech, and gourcuff has impressed enough to earn his starting spot, over nasri and malouda. In any case, this season will have done wonders for his confidence. He's older, more confident in his ability. I still think it would be a wise move to try and get him back, and have him and zee start splitting time. Then, if there is no real drop off in the performance between the two..in with the new! and if not..let him go without regrets..

but to say that he was a flop would be like saying paloschi is a flop. both are young, came in and did nice things from time to time, but also struggled..there seems to be a consensus that we should be patient with palo..so exactly why did everyone write yoann off so quickly? we all knew pato was the 'new ronaldo' when we signed him, but we also all know it takes time to hit stride. Does anyone here actually believe that he was given time to settle? i mean of all the players we could have let go during the last offseason..was yoann really the most urgent piece that we needed to get rid of?

Fishdoll offers vnata some biscotti di Prato. And thinks that we're going to just have to agree to disagree on young Yoann. Fishdoll respects your view of the kid but really, honestly doesn't see in him what you do.

I'm in two minds over this.

In one way, I agree with vnata that Yoann has done enough to earn a recall, and perhaps get a run in the side. But at the same time, I'm not for bending over backwards if that's what's required for Yoann to accept to return. If Yoann/his agent make excessive demands, like guaranteed first XI place, then we can't agree can we?

I'm with vnata this one, we need a replacement for Seedorf who is getting slower and lazier every year ... and Yoaan can only get better, the fact that he is the one of the most popular "next of someone" underlines something. Let's be honest, he wasn't given enough chance in Milan. One thing for sure, if we don't take him back, he is bound to go somewhere else, probably one of our rivals; Juve, Roma or Arsenal. I don't want that to happen.

Yes of course. But also, if he repeats some of his behaviour on pitch he can pack his bags. It's not a hard change, but it's a neccessary one.
