QUOTE (acid911 @ Dec 8 2008, 03:57 PM) Who talked about being good? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) The fact that we may have had a potential world's best player of the future (if everything works out right), and we spilled the chance. It's all about spotting talent and then nourishing it, which we suck at horribly. Hold it right there!! I have some conounter arguments prepared...wait...oh... 1) I can re arrange you quote and say: we had a potential world's best player of the future and he spilled the chance. I don't blame Carlo or Milan 100%. Why do we so easily foget his corner cheating? Okay, it's a microbe, it's just a detail, but it's so rediculously unprofessional and I never in my whole life saw something like that at Milan (except of Giuseppe Cardone and Luca Saudati). 2) I think my quote of sig. Trap says much. 3) If not, we should say this - Milan never does care or even wamts to care about polishing raw diamonds. That's not our job, and that's not our thing. We rarely do handle with raw talent, like we do with Pato now. But remember Boban? He was great, had much talent, did very well, could have made some debut apps..but he was sent on the first train to Bari with no pardon and we let them handle him (this is the only thing I think we missed - Gourcuff should have been loaned to a Serie A team. But Bordeaux was easier. And he plays CL).

I'd like him to go through. It will be a good learning experience.

What zd says is right Fillipo. Why did we buy Gourcuff if we never intended on polishing his skills? He was not going to explode, most people had never even heard of him before, it was not like when Pato came. And even if they were expecting him to explode and amaze us that was going to happen in the first season, there was no reason to let him rot on the bench for a second one - and that's what happened, the stats are all there on the official site, he was rarely given any chances in his second season. If they did not get what they expected from him then, since as you correctly say, developing youngsters is not what we do, why didn't they loan him out last season? In my opinion that was bad management and I'm pretty firm on this.

Well, then let's try see it from another perspective - we will earn on him. We do polish him - we secured a talented player for us soon, before any of the money-grabbing clubs like Lyon signed him and then tried to negotiate a multi-million fee two or three years after, we tried him at Milan, didn't work (maybe cause of Ancelotti, I'm sure both are fault), now we let him be polished by Bordeaux. As I said, we did it in the past as well. And he'll return. Then we'll sell him for much more then the initial fee we payed or let him play with us a polished talent. In both ways we win.

What you say is true. I was talking about what happened... but that's in the past now.
For the future, I hope he returns cause I believe in him!

QUOTE (dst @ Dec 9 2008, 07:22 PM) For the future, I hope he returns cause I believe in him! I don't think that matters. Much. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I believe in pots of gold at the end of a rainbow. And don't ask how much it counts for in real life. If Gourcuff goes, I'll be okay with it. If he comes back (at least while Carlo is in charge), I'll think of him as either the bravest person I ever knew, the most stupidest, or both. Some time down the road when Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambro, Ronaldinho all have retired, we might yet look back at today and think what course things took for this lad. Provided he reaches that level. And then, believe me you better, saying 'I told you so!' won't quite cut it.

I won't be sorry if he goes. Even if he becomes the Ballon d'Or winner 5 years from now. Not every good player can be good for you.
As of now, I think he's the Lone Ranger kind of player. Who plays best when he's the most talented player in the team, and the team revolves around him. Kind of like a big-time Steve Sidwell. I think the more he plays, and the more experience he gains, he will soon start to be able to play in big teams as well.

There....I fixed it. But Sidwell did the same thing as Gourcuff. First Reading, then Chelsea and now the glorious club of Aston Villa.
Yoann did Rennes, Milan and the not-as-glorious-but-ok club of Bordeaux.

QUOTE (KillerMax @ Dec 10 2008, 05:29 AM) We can't make that argument since Kaka is the only young player to have joined Milan under Anceoltt's reign and actually settled and he is one of the best there ever was. What about Pato? Well, he settled already here, but okay, he's still not a regular starter. QUOTE But still, Sidwell is not Gourcuff quality. France NT is already building their tactics around Yoaan. Same thing can not be said about Mr. Steven. As long as that man with football-glasses is the french NT I don't fear to say they're building their tactics around X-file cases...

Funnily enough, he's about the only young player Carlo has given enough chances to.. QUOTE (KillerMax @ Dec 10 2008, 04:29 AM) But still, Sidwell is not Gourcuff quality. France NT is already building their tactics around Yoaan. Same thing can not be said about Mr. Steven. They're completely different players really. Sidwell gets into the Villa team, Gourcuff wouldn't. But Gourcuff would(should) get into the Milan team, while Sidwell wouldn't.
