Maybe he was. Maybe we killed Gila. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) He was a contender, sure. I guess we'll know once the season ends and see how he fares at Fiorentina. Only then can we judge that boy called Gilardino.

Anyway, either you watch too much of the guy, or I too little. I'd put Kaka and Messi above him with eyes closed. I guess that's where the hype machine starts, and they overrate Christiano. The thing is, was he not playing for United, the English media would be calling him just another diving Portuguese prick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Maybe they will, once he leaves for Madrid or some other club. But even if he scores 420 goals in a season, he shouldn't be termed the best in the world when he hasn't rubbed shoulders with other players of similar stature around the world. The only thing I don't really appreciate about England is that they seem to forget there is a world outside that little island too. Nothing personal, but that's just how it is. In sports at the very least. Cricket, Football, Rugby, etc.

Roma you say? Outside Italy, they're a 4th grade club anyway. Mentally weak, because they haven't had a good run at the top for quite some time. Even in Italy, I'd put them behind the merda. They just got lucky in the last couple of years with Juve falling and Milan not picking themselves up. He got his true worth revealed against Milan, like you said. And in the Euros against Germany. Then again, a couple of matches never made or broke a player, so judging a player this way isn't the best of ideas. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Maybe it's because you live in England, and are engulfed by the English media and papers who call him the best in the world. Just like the Italians still call Buffon the best, while he clearly isn't the best in Serie A at the moment. It's just normal.

What isn't normal is calling a certain Portuguese the absolute best, when there clearly are better players than him around. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) That's where the overrate thingy hops in. Is he a great player? Yes. Is he the talented. Maybe. But the world's numero uno? That's hard to buy. At least at the moment. And no you won't be biased when putting Kaka and Messi above him. They are. And that in no way makes Christiano a bad player. It just puts him back in his place.

Overrated or not, I for sure know he isn't underrated. FACT.

QUOTE (Tennie @ Sep 5 2008, 08:55 PM) *
I still don't see what Milan see in Senderos - there was a gushy article in Gazzetta (print edition) a couple of days ago about him that left me scratching my head in disbelief. Having seen him play both for Arsenal and for the Swiss NT, I'm just not that impressed. I don't think his positioning is very good and as whoarethepatriots points out, he's error prone. Pace isn't an issue with me.

It's not like he makes mistakes in every single game. I wish he made one against us at San Siro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (Giancarlo @ Sep 5 2008, 11:47 PM) *
Sheva will certainly gain back some shot selection and his aim. He's no threat to Pato.

You really think so?

He played 45 minutes (ahead of Pato) when he hadn't trained with the rest of team for more than a few days and while he was clearly out of form. you wanna know why? Silvio was present at that match and Carlo had to use him. favoritism towards Sheva might prevent Pato and Borriello from playing up to their full potential.

QUOTE (Tennie @ Sep 5 2008, 11:49 PM) *
I'm uncertain as to how much playing time Shevchenko will actually get. I would imagine that a fair bit of it will depend on who actually picks the starting lineups (the inference being that I think Silvio might pressure Ancelotti to start Sheva).

QUOTE (Giancarlo @ Sep 6 2008, 12:44 AM) *
I'm sure Ancelotti will test out 4-3-1-2 more often...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) How with Kaka and Ronaldinho both having to play?... we will never play with two strikers unless one (between Kaka and Ronaldinho) is injured. but even then we probably won't play with two strikers (we all saw how Carlo picked his team against Bologna when he could start the game with two strikers)

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 6 2008, 05:24 AM) *
Both are over-rated

That's a little harsh (regarding C.Ronaldo. Quaresma... I still have no idea how good he is) Ronaldo is a big game choker, not overrated. he performs against most teams, but when it comes to a team like Barca in the semi final of the CL... we all saw how he played over two legs (not to mention how bad he took his penalty at Camp Nou).

I believe never has an overrated player won a Golden Ball or FIFA world player of the year title. but a big game choker? Ronaldo will be the first (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

The ronaldo issue is one of discussion forsure but right now whether he is overrated or not, he is the best player in the world. No can deny him that title.

So it doesnt matter whether you can stand him or not.

42 goals is impressive and anyone who can achieve this feat cannot be considered lightly. Not even kaka who i love so much can claim he has impressed more than ronaldo.

Hmh, Quaresma sure has talent and potential, but I'm pretty sure it'll go wasted. It's just a kind of transfer Inter would do 6-7 years ago - buy big and risk big. Only difference really is Mourinho. If there's a coach in the world who could make him do the things he can it's sure Moe. Will it be enough? I don't think so. Mancini and Quaresma have to prove themselfs fast, but till then Inter is a one-man-show (on pitch) called Ibrahimovic.

CR? He's good. He's very good. Overrated by the English medias? Probably too.

There you go again.

Insulting people who think differently than you.

He's not the best winger in the world (far from the best). Average at best man. And what inter paid for him... vastly overrated.

Er. Giancarlo, nobody's insulting anyone here. Blue is making a JOKE. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) At Fillipo, not you, anyway.

I personally think Cristiano Ronaldo is overrated and not necessarily the best player on the planet but I acknowledge that others may disagree with me.

And I disagree most strongly with the characterization of Quaresma as 'average at best'. Especially if the judgment is based on...4 or so games at the most recent Euros.

Overrated or not, I for sure know he isn't underrated. FACT.

I don't think they would, they were all majorly p'd off with him in 2006 but it seems they have come back to love him again. They appreciate that finally after all these years the EPL has arguably the best player on the planet in their league. That hasn't happened for some time.

He hasn't rubbed shoulders with big players?! He plays in the EPL currently, I'd say that's where the biggest amount of World-Class players are with all the money being thrown into it. This is what I don't get, abuse at England, it seems whenever we have a half decent point we get it's all the media hype and we don't look outside of our country abuse thrown at us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) If that were the case do you think myself, Kurt, Mike and the other English people on this board would be supporting/following Milan?...

Is that another dig at the English media, nice way to support your arguement...

See, whilst you've told me goals don't make you good which I find slightly weird for a winger, the fact that he's won the EPL and CL last season scoring all those goals along the way. Whereas Messi and Kaka won nothing and didn't come close to his scoring record. Therefore, I don't see how there are other betters 'clearly' better than him and that's from looking at the stats and what they've won in the past season.

You think he's underrated, so it's a fact (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) That's like me saying he isn't overrated, FACT. It's called an opinion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Ah ok, when you said 'bigger' sounded like you were meaning better! Isn't Quaresma 24 and Ronaldo 23 though? Not too much difference.

Thank you finally someone who can look at what he has done rather than basing their opinion on whether they like him or not. He is cocky but he can afford to be he's one of the best at the moment.

To be honest for all the stick the English media gets and rightfully in my opinion in most circumstances I think most countries do big up there best players. It's the same in Spain with Messi how they feel no one comes close to him currently, there's no room for them thinking that Ronaldo's as good or better than him on the past seasons performance.

I can't help but feel if Messi was in the EPL and Ronaldo in La Liga. We'd be saying that it's the English media overrating Messi, Ronaldo's on another planet currently etc.

He says "dozer" all the time to everyone who doesn't agree with his view on things. It's annoying. He thinks Quaresma and Ronaldo are the gods of everything.

I gave my judgment. As I said, I tihnk he's average at best, especially for the price they paid.

So the issue is that you fiind the term 'dozer' annoying; clearly Bluesummers doesn't. Given that his comment wasn't even directed at you, I fail to see why you felt it necessary to call him out for 'insulting'.

As for what Bluesummers thinks, perhaps he just rates the two players more highly than you do. That doesn't necessarily mean he thinks their gods. He just has a differeng opinion.

Right. I'm not going to argue about this anymore. He's called me that on numerous occasions and I see others. I don't think it's really nice. Though word means nothing to me (and frankly I don't think it means anything at all).

Exactly. If you're a good young talent in England, you're just labelled over-rated. But if you play in Spain, clearly you must be a God send. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
