If this current $heva was a defender he would have been Senderos (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Not really, more of a Maldini was great now he isn't anywhere near that standard. Whereas Senderos has nothing to really show for his career compared too
  • 5 Ukranian League Titles
  • 3 Ukranian Cups
  • 1 Serie A
  • 1 Coppa Italia
  • 1 UEFA Champions League
  • 1 FA Cup
  • 1 Football League Cup
  • Twice Serie A Top Scorer
  • European Footballer Of The Year
  • 3 Times Champions League Top Scorer
  • Fourth All Time Scorer Ever in Europe
Yeah compared to Senderos:
  • 1 FA Cup
Only other thing he's won are pre-season friendly tournaments (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

My fear is that Carlo tends to stick stubbornly to what has been proven...suppose $heva scores a few in the starts he's given....I fear that Pato's growth will be stunted in favour of the short term solution (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Give him a break. I'm sure Senderos will do better here.

And we're not going to neglect Pato. Pato seems to do better as a 2nd half substitute by the way. And he scored most of his goals in the second half.

being a sub isn't enough. Pato needs minutes....minutes to score....minutes to miss.....minutes to work miracles.....minutes to stink.....we can't assume that he will come on and score or that 45 min is enough...especially as he is the most talented striker on our roster....The kid needs to play and play and play and waste great chances and to LEARN. It's the only way his talent will truly develop. Cristiano Ronaldo didn't get to where he is now by being a sub all the time....sure when he just came he was FAR form being the finished produce....but Fergie kept the faith in him no matter how much crap he played or dived or stank....he's now the finished product FOUR years away from his debut at 18.

I think it's too early to tell just how people are going to play. Let's at least wait til more than one competitive game has been played, lest we all collectively be accused of having Zamparini Syndrome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm sure Pato will start some games... it'll allow rotation. Seriously, you think having 4 strikers is inappropriate? I'm sure Ancelotti will test out 4-3-1-2 more. The kid will play for sure, and will play appropriately. I just can't agree with anything you say I'm sorry.

Dru, I agree with the sentiment. The problem is that there are 3 other really good strikers on the team and they deserve to play some of the time too. It'd be easier if we played a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-2-3-1 because there'd be more options but right now there may just have to be some rotation.

I'm stunned. When we have a crisis with our forwards last season, people were calling for signing new strikers. When we do, we suddenly have too much. Once we have some rotation... it's suddenly a bad thing.

Some people will never be happy.

I'd much rather have rotation and depth with our strikers. And lets face it, Inzaghi won't be playing as much. What if he is hit with another injury? If anything if we put all the pressure on Pato, there is more of a chance he could pick up another injury or be overwhelmed.

Sheva scored 6 goals in 10 starts for Chelsea last season.. Add that to his 14 goals in his first season at Chelsea. I thin people's expectations of him were so high that they don't actually realise that he wasn't a complete disaster in London. Especially when he was played a a RW in his time there.

Senderos has never shown anything to suggest that he's anymore than a below average, Championship quality player.

We need forwards but good ones!! Getting crap like $h!tchel$ki doesn't count. PAto is the only potentially WC forward we have atm.....and he's largely unproven. Lacking a player in a position and getting a crap player to me is the same thing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Inzaghi is a legend and I'd never thought in a million years I'd grow to love an ex- juventino so much but NOW his body is simply not capable of withstanding top class football for extended periods.
Borriello has only ONE season of more than 12 goals we can't accurately predict how he's going to play.

So essentially we only have ONE forward that we could EXPECT a reasonably consistent stream of goals from

Respectfully disagreed. We can't have 4 world class forwards, or that'll cause problems. We needed back-up for now. We were not going to acquire Ronaldinho and a top class forward (lets just say Eto'o for examples sake). Pato may be the only potential world class forward, but we have attacking midfielders who can more than make up the difference and ones that ARE WORLD CLASS.

Sheva isn't crap. He's just... meh... a back-up.

I'll give Borriello a chance. He's more depth when we need it.

No. We have four forwards, and three we can expect something out of.

But with Milan, our goals don't mostly come from our forwards, but our midfielders (Kaka scored 15 last season). And I'm sure Ronaldinho (who can play as second striker) will score just as many.

Another example to prove my point: Who scores the most goals in Manchester United? Ronaldo. Tevez is a far second at 14 goals last season (just counting league games). Ronaldo had 31. Is Ronaldo a forward?

This is coming from the guy who has Ronaldo as his avatar? No. The exact same thing in January almost, was world-class then went average and then awful but you supported him. He was as old, as past it etc

Sheva is not 'crap' you are just completely bitter about the way he left which I respect your opinion in. However, I don't think you can call a player like Sheva that previous or now.

Well he is...put both on the field and gila will score more, faster and easier than MVB....despite the fact that MVB = the swan of Uctrect and Gila = Absolut Garbage

The facts are NOW Sheva is rubbish BUT the nostalgic feelings we have for him will linger on and will ultimately prove dangerous since we will tend to celebrate his every goal and minimize his obvious failings. An even more potentially detrimental scenario is if he hits a patch of form, Ancelotti might be tempted to field him more often at the expense of the duck's playing time- who's growing pains we might suddenly not have the patience for.
