QUOTE Pato: Scudetto is oursSaturday 23 August, 2008 Alexandre Pato is confident "Milan will win the Scudetto this year," although he is very impressed by Roma's acquisition Julio Baptista. "Milan are very strong this year. I am certain: We will win Serie A. I won't say we are going to finish in the top places. I say we're taking the Scudetto," he told the Corriere dello Sport. However, 'The Duck' is somewhat concerned that the Giallorossi have picked up their own Brazilian talent. "I was surprised when I heard Roma had bought up Julio Baptista's entire contract rather than take him on loan from Real Madrid. It's a fantastic bargain for them. "I know him well from the Selecao and can say Roma have got themselves a real force of nature, a hitman and a leader. He will score many goals and have an excellent campaign." Pato has been unable to take part in pre-season friendlies because he was at the Olympics, winning a bronze medal for Brazil with new club teammate Ronaldinho. "I see Ronaldinho every day and he is a phenomenon. He is working hard and after a month out here I can confirm he always put in the hours for training, before, during and after the Olympics. "Ronaldinho is back and he will have a great year in Italy with a fantastic Milan team. "I did not play very much out here, but with the Rossoneri I have to play a lot and much better. In the first three Olympic games I fought hard, but always had very static defences in front of me." Pato was later dropped in favour of Rafael Sobis and Coach Carlos Dunga suggested it was a fitness issue. "I stepped on to the pitch and, as I said, I was alone against the entire opposition. When I went off, the defences were tired. It is much easier to look good when the defenders are exhausted." ((Sorry 10ie!) this last part is obviously a little F-you from Pato to Dunga!) Channel4

Carlo is very right, not the time or place to criticise one of your youngest players, who needs encouragment above anything else.
And Brazil just had no shape, they played the ball 95% of the time among the defenders and the midfielder furthest back. Horrible to watch. And Dinho was played as an out and out striker rather a more supportive role out wide or even deeper though the middle

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 30 2008, 09:49 PM) You know we'll win it? Yes. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) What Mr. B wants, he gets. If not, then we'll win it next year, with a new coach. Either way, the point is I'm not a public personality. I can get away with what I say. Pato can't. And the sooner he learns it, the better. He should have said: 'We'll give it our all to win it', or 'We'll put forward a 200% effort'. Because fans or not, people (and media) remember these statements, and that can come back to haunt a player. Friendly suggestion. QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 30 2008, 09:49 PM) I think you need to add your name to the "Milan to finish above Inter" list in The Bet part 2 thread! Not a gambling man, Kurt. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Or I would have.
