This is brutal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMKvbQ3nt-M

The brazillians deserved the red card. It's in the rules.
But Mascherano made a meal of it too.

On route to the first goal ... Argentina completed 2 passes uninterrupted, straight to goal.

The Nigerians I'm sure won't play nice either. They have been perhaps more physical then anyone else. I hope Argentina takes a beating... I can't stand their players or their arrogance..

Anyways, there was another article saying that Milan is after Thiago Silva... I believe he sat on the bench this entire game...

http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug19g.html

Would have he been better capable to deal with Argentina?

Aguero's 1st goal was handball.
Pato's goal was NOT offside. (I need to see both of these again though)

In short, the refereeing was scandalous (not to mention those two reds which I think could be yellows, especially the first one - but hell, Argies are the best when it comes to simulating).

That all said, Argies deserved to reach the final... they were better! and I'm happy this could be the beginning of the end of Dunga's spell. that fvcker.

All in all, Brazil's weakest link was its midfield. they just don't feed the attackers... they really lacked a Kaka.

In this match? He kept the ball glued to his feet and ran circles around 3-4 Brazilian defenders. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) In other news, he's scored some goals that are out of this world. Getting tagged Braca number 10 at his age isn't the work of humans either.

In short: Amazing, amazing talent. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yeah, explosive. shame he plays for those losers who can't win anything better than the Olympics or U18 World Cups.

Were the brazillian players brutal on Mascherano? I don't think so.
I mean, in Serie A those would be yellows, never cards.

If those were brutal, what are the ones from Matrix?

The ref was in my opinion right to show red in those two incidents because the Brazilians went right on Mascherano out of frustration and with no intention to take the ball...
It would not change a thing (if it was a yellow) anyway...

That's not brutal, that's a 5 month ban. Or should be...

Exactly, the ref was maybe too harsh but by the rule both tackles deserved a red card.

The refereeing was scandalous? Come on pal, relax... the officiating was good. Argies are the best in simulating? Again, relax, you are acting like a sore loser. Name one player that would take a knock from behind and would not try to have his opponent punished by crying out loud on the ground... (don't try, everyone would do it)

Brazil were playing with 10 men... Ronaldinho did nothing at all...

You mean the 2 time WC winners and 14 time Copa American winners? Yeah, true losers...

PS I can't believe I'm defending Argentina...

Na. I thought the refereeing was a bit questionable too, as it has been throughout this "tournament". When he says he thinks Argentina are losers it's because Argentina doesn't perform in big tournaments anymore, and was destroyed in that last Copa America final by a 2nd string Brazil side.

In fact Argentina has not actually won a Copa America since 1993. The last world cup it won was in 1986. Brazil on the other hand... they won the 1994 and 2002 World cup, as well as the 1997, 1999, 2004, and 2007 Copa Americas. Beating Argentina twice in the last two finals of that tournament.

Argentina also has choked in the last few world cups since 1994.

As far as I know the rules, that's not offside. (notice where Pato's right foot and that Argie's left foot are...)

Stupid ref. that goal could have change the course of the match. this wasn't more dubious than Aguero's handball.

Even if the ref was favoring Argentina (which I don't believe is true) they should not complain that much cause they were heavily favored against Belgium and Cameroon themselves...

Well true it's been quite a while since they last won something but... I don't think it's fair to call them losers...

They did better than Brazil in the last World Cup though... if they did not have a stupid coach they could have been in the final too...

The referees should try to be as objective as possible not favoring anyone and in this tournament they did. I think Brazil's goal getting counted as off-side (when it was not) frustrated Brazil and frustrated its players. I think the refereeing was at least biased against Brazil and Italy in this tournament.

They did? They got to the same stage as Brazil. But yeah I agree with you... their coach was terrible... almost as bad as Dunga.

I always thought the rule was "If a part of your body that can play the ball is in an offside position, you're offside". And since you can play the ball with your head..

It doesn't matter anyways. In my opinion the Argies foot in on the 6-yard line, while Pato's is over it. Meaning offside.

I'm with Zd and Gian on this one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) The only goal that could have changed the outcome of the match, and they disallowed it. Argentina? It's got more to do with their loser mentality (much like the merda) than being losers themselves. They'd not produce guys like Messi, Zanetti, Ayala, and more if they were losers. But they can't changed their losers thinking, and arrogance when they win something.

You shouldn't defend the Argies, dst. They're not worth it. Quote me on this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I know you don't much like the Brazilian variety of football (and what they did today wasn't anything special), but the Argentinians can be worse. If you follow South American football that is. They play beautiful football sometimes, but that's just about it.

Offside or not. Handball or otherwise. Both Brazil and Italy are out and that's what matters. Unfortunately.

So, what do you think about Pato's goal? (I'm sure Aguero hit the ball with his hand. don't know whether or not the rules say that is handball...)

They've been losers for the past 15 years or so. from the time I started watching football as a kid they've been losing!! especially their World Cup failures are laughable for a team so full of talented footballers.

The only way they can win a World Cup again is if Messi pull a Maradona. we'll see in 2010...

Their first team are a bunch of losers. sorry if I use this words again and again, but that's what I honestly believe they are. their U23 or U18 teams though are good. that's why they only win these kinds of tournaments. last years in Canada and this years in China.

I don't know... it doesn't matter anymore. Brazil will come back in 2010 and Argentina will do what they do best in World Cups...

I just hope Dunga is kicked out asap. c'era una volta Scolari...

The fish doll offers poor, despondent zd a cookie.

The Argies had to win one eventually, I guess. Ahwell.
