Gosh. Bit of a surprise in today's Azzurri training. First off, De Rossi was rested as a precaution (some sort of foot problem). Training involved standard warmups, defensive and offensive drills, and a practice game. The green team won the practice game 5-2. Four of the five goals were scored by Cassano. Nice interview with Qualiarella on tuttomercatoweb today. (link)

Highlights:
* He hopes the kiss he got during Monday's halftime entertainment was for good luck; he was a little surprised to be the one who got kissed.
* He's enjoying the training and hopes to be selected for the squad (typical politically correct answer, this one).
* He says he doesn't know anything about requests for his services from teams other than Udinese and adds that he's totally focused on the NT (note: he's just dropped his agents and is now represented by his father. there's speculation one of the big teams will make an offer for him)
* If he were to play abroad, he'd prefer to play in Spain.
* He's proud of the fact that there are 4 Neapolitans in the squad (the other 3 being Cannavaro, Di Natale, and Borriello) especially since Naples has had so much bad press recently (note: that may be extra motivation for the Neapolitan players.)

Donadoni announced his final list for the Euros. As expected, Montolivo was the player dropped.

Mexes and Flamini were (unsurprisingly, considering where they play club football) among those cut by Domenech for the French team.

5/28/2008

PARIS - The Roma player Mexes, the Milan player Flamini and Landreau, Cisse', Escude', Alou Diarra and Ben Arfa are the players who have not been confirmed by the coach Raymond Domenech in the list of called-up players for Euro 2008, on the eve of the departure from France towards Austria and Switzerland.
