QUOTE (morgoth @ May 26 2008, 09:59 PM)
From what I was of him, I think he's great pace but no particular dribbling or crossing skills and for a winger it's more than necessary, but I saw only one match so I can't really have an opinion about him ...
*

Against USA he crossed in a brilliant ball for Galloppa, prefectly weighted and excecuted which was not too disimilar to Oddo's cross for Pirlo vs Bayern last year (Galloppa didnt score though)

Morgoth, in the last two U23 games I've seen from the Toulon tournament, Abate has shown the pace you mentioned. I also liked the ball control and the fact that he had more good crosses into the area in those two games than Oddo (and do keep in mind that I like Oddo) has had...most of the season. There were times when I felt like I was watching a young, blonde Cafu running up and down the wings (yes, Abate is a midfielder and not a RB but that's the best visual comparison I can make). Really, Abate has impressed me. I had no idea he was capable of performances like those I've seen.

Actually I only saw his match against Turkey and he didn't look too strong to me, especially physically (Ok, he's only 21), he was always off side and didn't cross that much the ball.

But if you guys say that he was impressive then I believe you, and hope our management noticed that too and will bring him back home (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Abate did a great job in Empoli and right know he's doing a great job for Italy. It would be bad to bring him back so he can sit on the bench.

Yeah you are right, to aid in his development he shouldnt be recalled yet, but the bosses should keep a close eye on him over the next year or so. He could be our Giovinco (the two linked up brilliantly in a recent U23 match)

That's a shame, he was really good last year. Scored a few crackers as well.

Indeed this can make Serie A very interesting / more competitive
Not to mention the eventual arrival of Mourinho at inter and the likely arrival of Ronaldinho for us (among others hopefully), serie a can get even more interesting!

Oh, how I wish inter sign someone like Carlo Alberto Perrara (the Brazil coach in the last World Cup). If things oil up well between Mourinho and Inter, then they'll be very hard to catch up. More so if they get a couple of more world class players. Things can get real bad real fast. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Not that Milan can't beat them, it's just that I'd much rather have them rotting at 10th place than anywhere near the top. And someone like the Mourin man is only going to make them strong.

I know the Mourinho deal is almost done, but a man can dream, right? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

second isn't so bad. I just hope we can continue the rebuilding phase properly and not focus on players like sheva/ eto etc...

Signing palyers who are young liek Lloris are how to build our cycle and continue success. Whats the point of bringing in zambro eventhough he is good, when he willbe 32 and same with shevchenko who will be 33?

The worst thing about Mourinho to Inter (besides his arrogant comments) is that he seems to be doing better in european cups with smaller clubs... so Inter might now have a chance! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)
