Huntelaar To Discuss Future With Van BastenAjax have not given up hope on Klaas-Jan Huntelaar staying with them beyond this summer. And their vice-captain has certainly encouraged them…
The 24-year-old international striker, who’s bagged in no less than
96 goals in 120 outings ((IMG:

Arnold Oosterveer told the same fanzine that everything has changed after Martin van Geel’s departure as the club’s technical director. “Our last conversation took place four weeks ago. I can’t say much, but expect that we’ll meet with Van Basten soon. And then we can make a decision in calm.â€
The former PSV Eindhoven, De Graafschap and Heerenveen star had recently suggested that working with Van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp could be a reason for him to stay with the Godenzonen. But that’s not the only reason.
A question of challenges“I would love to help Ajax win the Eredivisie again. I really feel at home here. I’m well settled.†said Huntelaar, who’s won the Johan Cruijff Schaal twice and the Beker another two times with Ajax, but has yet to be crowned champion.
Huntelaar actually added that he would be prepared to leave the Dutch capital only if certain conditions were met. “A new sporting challenge would be the only reason for me to go. At this time there are clubs with more resources to win them more success.â€
Champions League“If a really big club expressed an interest in me as their first-choice striker, then I would keep my options open. I want to play in the European Champions League next season, therefore I wouldn’t join a club not qualified for the tournament.†(IMG:

Ajax have to overturn Twente’s 2-1 aggregate play-off lead if they are to break into the Champions League themselves, but Huntelaar insisted he hasn’t lost his sleep over a possible move. “I’m calm and I want firstly to perform in the play-offs and the European Championship. Perhaps you will hear something [concerning a transfer] in the course [of the final stage], perhaps afterwards. That remains to be seen.â€
“Everyone wants me to say whether I’m staying or going. I realize that, but it’s really out of my hands at this time.â€
