RONALDO: OFFICIAL STATEMENTIn light of recent developments, it must be stressed that no criminal complaint whatsoever has been made against Ronaldo, which rules out any possibility of the player being required to appear at the police station. As a keen supporter of social causes, Ronaldo has never been a drug user, and has always taken seriously his status as a role model and idol for children and young people in Brazil and around the world. All of the signs surrounding the recent incident point to an attempt at extortion, with the AC Milan striker as the sole victim, and if necessary he will be taking appropriate action. Fitness update Ronaldo's recovery programme continues to make progress, as he undergoes three daily physiotherapy sessions: in the morning, afternoon and early evening. He can now attain a 110-degree range of pain-free movement in his left knee. Ronaldo is due to have one final consultation with the French doctor Gerard Saillant in Paris at the beginning of May. ronaldo.com

QUOTE (arivanjj @ Apr 30 2008, 02:22 AM) Hehe, yeah. We've got leaks somewhere here in MilanFan - people that report stuff to the press. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) But, yeah, I guess we can safely say the matter seems dusted and buried. I've seen worse, though, than what happened here with Ronaldo. People with money and fame can do really weired stuff. Now get fit by September, and get back in the starting XI. QUOTE (MizNelson @ May 1 2008, 09:05 AM) Considering Nike are no stranger to scandal (i.e. the sweatshop controversy) themselves, that's kinda like the pot calling the kettle black. Adidas wasted no time in dumping Kobe Bryant after his **** accusations first surfaced. Very true, but I don't think it's the same thing. According to the law what Bryant was accused for is worst than what R99 had supposedly done (coke), plus there was no complain (dealing with a trans in Brazil is probably easier than an American lawyer (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) the first one will probably ask for a proper surgery and the deal is done (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ). But I agree with you it's not like nike is not used to those kind of scandals (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) they're probably going to make a new ad. and find R99 a new girlfriend for the holidays, and the business can go on ... P.S. I just used the word "probably" 3 times, wow! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I'm probably ... tired (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Ronaldo explains allMonday 5 May, 2008 After a week of silence, Ronaldo has returned to speak to the Press to explain the recent controversy in Brazil. Speaking to the cameras of the Brazilian TV Rede Globo the Milan striker confessed his regret regarding the events that have involved him recently. Reportedly, he had been blackmailed by three transvestites, who he had picked up outside a disco in Rio de Janeiro. “I did something really stupid. Everybody can make errors and I made one,†he admitted.
“I didn't even realise they were transvestites. As a player I am generally on a different level, but I am a person who has his weakness and fears which makes me as normal as anyone else.â€Ronaldo also went on to reveal details regarding that crazy night in Rio. “I had an argument with my girlfriend and then I went to three prostitutes to heal my sorrows. [my o my... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) ] I wasn't drunk and when we got to the hotel I realised they were men so I decided to kick them out.
“But at that stage they started asking for money. I offered them a liquidation and two accepted while the other asked for an incredible amount saying that he/she would reveal everything to the Press.â€Now the 31-year-old is looking to recover from his injury and hoping to forget about that night as soon as possible. “I have to rebuild everything around me, it is like when a house gets blown away from a tornado. Now I have to start everything all over again.†Despite the scandal, Ronaldo has kept his position as a Unicef peace ambassador although there are fears over the Brazilian's sponsorship deals with TIM and Nike.
