You're assuming Gila will stay, Max. I'm not at all sure that he will.
Interesting new permutation in the late press today: the new rumor is that Milan will buy Antonio Di Natale from Udine, using 1 of our strikers (Borriello or Gila) as part of the deal. I rather like Di Natale, so this rumor doesn't bug me -- so long as there's another strong physical striker brought in. Di Natale is not the big physical type.

I believe Di Natale is the wrong age for this Milan side and a Pato Di Natale partnership doesn't look so hot to me. He could be a decent rotation option on the bench though.
As for Gila leaving, I like the idea and I think it would be a win-win deal. I think the chances of him staying or leaving are 60 to 40 percent.
From the list below, I would be content with any of them:
Gomez, Huntelaar, Berbatov and Benzema.
From this list, I would be content only if they arrived with one of the attackers mentioned above:
Drogba, Shevchenko, Villa, G. Rossi, Di Natale.
I wouldn't want the following in Milan:
Amauri, Boriello, Oliveira, Pazzini.

Hmm...this is interesting...but it will come down to how badly Milan want Boriello. I have no problem with any of the names. But excuse me, if I don't go crazy for Villa. 1. He's Spanish. We seem to have horrible luck with whoever comes over from Spain. 2. He's playing in a team that bases it's gameplay around fast wingers. 3. I haven't seen too many goals where he's got 3 people on top of him, pulling his shirt. With that said, he's got good dribbling skills, pace and a good finish. Perfect for the Spanish league. But not entirely convinced about Serie A. I think England would be good for him. Huntelaar?? I like him, but I'm partial to the Dutch in Milan. But then again, I look at his highlight packages in youtube, and then I look at Gila's highlight packages(Parma), and I don't know the difference. Except maybe Klaas has got a thing for freekicks. I like Berbatov, but he does have this habit of disappearing in a match. If his heart was as big as his skill, he'd be bigger than Drogba. I'm at a loss here. If only Cassano had his head screwed up right! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I'm also partial to the Dutch in Milan but if there's a player I would really love to see playing for us .... maybe even more .. way more than Huntelaar and that guy is BENZEMA. He's only 20 and he is ridiculously good ... Berbatov only has only leg (the right one) ... Benzema shoots extremely well with both ... he is really good. I really think that right now the forward with the best potential is this guy and I think that a pair of Pato-Benzema can drive defenders nuts. Plus we can have good attack for at least 8+ years. And each year they should get better. We cannot let it go. If Benzema comes ... I won't get angry if Milan brings back Oliveira or Borriello ... I dont care. My list in order of preference: 1. Benzema(20) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzema2. Huntelaar(24) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntelaar4. Jo(20) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%B44. Gomez(22) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Gomez5. Berbatov(27) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berbatov

Benzema is very very interesting. But it's the contract renewal that bothers me. Big clubs like Milan have already settled on who their targets are for next season, by now.
So if we wanted Benzema, I doubt, he'd have done the renewal.
I get this stinking feeling, it'll be Sheva and Zambrotta this season. If we don't sign another creative mid-fielder I will be PISSED.

Do we need a forward more than we need a '10'?? In my view we need both but I doubt we're going to get them... so would you rather a new forward to come in and play alongside Pato or would you like someone like van der Vaart to take Seedorf's place in the starting line-up?
To me, it's the forward that comes first right now but for 2009/2010 we'll need to buy a new 10!

Well to be honest, there have been times when I thought we could win the match, despite the lack of the quality forward.
For instance, remember the amount of times Gila and Pippo have been isolated in the XMas tree without any service. Also remember, the Arsenal match, and how we were nowhere without Seedorf fully fit. And compare that with the matches against Bayern and Man U. And those matches were with our defence really distracted, not gritty like against Arsenal.
I think Carlo's drilled the team well enough to play without a support striker. But we're still desperate to have fullbacks and a number 10.
So if I had to choose between VdV and say Berbatov, I'd take VdV, because I think VdV and Kaka playing behind our sole striker more than compensates for the lack of a second striker. Also gives us flexibility from the X-Mas to the Pyramid..to even a 4-4-1-1.
So I'd take the number 10 over the striker (provided the number 10 was really really good..I mean Diego or VdV)

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Mar 19 2008, 03:58 AM) Milan probably won't sign either of them. I'm expecting them to make a bid for Drogba. I don't like cynicism, but something Carletto said today could potentially lead to another bad transfer season. He said we will have 5 strikers for next season and Paloschi + another player who will get called back will be part of that. So: Pato, Paloschi, Gilardino, Inzaghi, Oliveira or Boriello Unless he is playing mind games, I wouldn't be content with this at all. I think the player being called back will we Sheva. And we'll hear BS about how Sheva had never actually left, and his heart was still here...blah blah!
Sheva and Zambrotta next season. I have already numbed myself. *sigh*.
I'm telling you guys, with those kind of transfers, Carlo will be the only person capable of doing anything. But goodbye to CL or the scudetto.
