QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Sep 20 2007, 05:27 AM) Buffon is as good a shot stopper as Dida maybe better. But you want allround keepers and then you wonder where you'd put Buffon in a penalty shootout. You're picking keepers who are in top form and then comparing them with a guy who's way away from it, and then you're saying Dida is not as good as them. Dida's worked with our defence for quite some time. And that's also important for our team. It will take time for things to gel up since the CB pairing and GK are more often than not a unit. So if Kaladze is screwing up, it's gonna affect Dida too. Dida is better then Lehmann, no question about it. And I've never wanted to attack or bash Dida cause I like him and really got used to see him as our keeper. But, you can't compare him with Buffon. Buffon plays for years in top form, both for Parma, Juve and Italy. And Buffon did improved as a penalty stopper, he did save a penalty in the CL final against us, didn't he? Dida on the other side played only 3 classy seasons in Europe. Don't get me wrong, that is still much better then Lehmann, Toldo, etc. etc.,..But one of the most important things about their keepers is consistency. Like with Schmeichel or Buffon. And saying that Dida has problems with the "new" CB pair? Ohhhh,...I mean, that's a very lame excuse. Dida, Nesta and Kaladze are playing for years at Milan, and they had the whole summer to gel and make that defense look like they could play blind. I'd understand this excuse if Kalac would have been the keeper, but Dida. No, no, Dida-Nesta-Kaladze, they should know each other. So, I just wanted to point out some things. In all Dida is our #1 and should remain (if not for his form, then for the fact that Kalac and every other option we have sucks) if he manages to get in better form. It is maybe my interpretation, but he really look weak at the moment. Just like Kahn, his deteriorating is sooo obvious. He looks so slow and not concentrated at all. Look at the Benfica goal, I mean, it is not his fault, but look at his face, it's like he stopped playing. His expression shows so low concentration. The same with the Sevilla goal. Also, primary it was slow reflex cause he wasn't into this game. The Siena goal, IMO is Dida's standard problem, nothing to be surprised on that goal. I still think that were isolated scenes and blackouts. If not, then our management should also take part of the blame. It is simply inadmissible for a club with Milans reputation and ambition to start a season after summer preparation with a keeper that clearly has form problems. But I have faith that this is not the thing,.. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I meant something along the lines, that you can't expect the goal keeper to cover for the defender's mistakes as well. We're seeing that with Kaladze a lot aren't we. It's not about gelling. It's about the defenders doing what they're meant to do. We know Kaladze is having trouble with high balls as well, so it's becoming difficult for Dida to cover for them both. Is he deteriorating? Theoretically he should. But even at the end of last season, he was doing really well. Especially when we went on that streak after winter.

Dida better than Lehmann? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) They're both as bad as each other in my opinion, neither good enough for top teams. I think the goal against Siena is being put on Kaladze's shoulders way too much. People seem to forget it was Dida's mistake in the first place, if he'd have caught it, nothing. BUT he didn't, he made an error, forcing Kaladze to make up for it, which he couldn't (And shouldn't be doing anyway) Yes, Kaladze made an error missing the ball, but that goal goes down to Dida, and only Dida. His overall play is getting worse. The only thing I thought he was good at was shot stopping, but with his inability to catch, he's pushing the ball away, often right into the middle of the box or to onciming strikers, I'm not even sure what he's good at anymore. You just don't like him kurt, admit it! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) As to Siena's goal, Dida made a mistake and Kaladze made... nothing at all! I dont' know what's worse, being there but being wrong or not being there at all? I just need to erase that scene from my memory!

Sorry boys for me dida is no milan quality anymore. I hope he proves me wrong, but we definitely need more stability between the posts. Obviously he does have those games where he's as good as anyone in the world, but they key is consistency and he doesn't offer it anymore. Either way while he's our number 1, FORZA DIDA.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it, but some of the link ups in the benfica game were sublime. There was a different type of understanding that I hadn't seen before with the link ups and dummys. Mighty impressive, I guess thats what happens when you have the same names over 5 seasons.

Yes, Dida's had moments where he's undisputedly been rubbish, but some of his mistakes over the past two years were benign at best and blown way out of proportion (don't even get me started on the asses from Channel 4). Only once in that time span have we actually lost because of him, and that was ManU Pt. 1. Save for that and Bayern last year, did he really have such a horrible 06-07 season as fans and media made it out to be? Absolutely not. The fact that he's being lumped together with Gila in terms of current form is staggering, because they're apples and oranges in terms of their contributions to the club. QUOTE (Jack Sparrow) But even at the end of last season, he was doing really well. Especially when we went on that streak after winter. Exactly, and after that we conceded only once in all our preseason matches in which he took part. But then two games into the new campaign and boom, he's suddenly out of form again? Personally, I think he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Even when he has a good game, such as Tuesday, nobody's satisfied, as there's always someone out there nitpicking that he should've done this or done that. And why is it that whenever he pulls off a great save, he's "redeeming" himself for some past mistake? I don't get it.

It's for a lost cause that you and several others still have faith in Dida, cuz for some, Dida isn't up to the Milan standards anymore. Why ? Ohh well, he conceded that goal against Siena (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I am totally pro Dida, I have always been ... He is a Milan hero and he deserves our respect. Cuz the problem here is that a goalkeeper's mistakes is magnified and people tend to be harsher on him than on any other member of the team. But in the end, it doesn't matter, as he has already proven himself to both the Milan management/coaching staff and tifosi. p.s. No one is perfect in the end, but Dida if they can only see with my eyes then they will understand why he is so great.

Even when he has a good game, such as Tuesday..I think some of us have a difference of opinion on what a good game is. He was really poor in my view. The goal was alot down to his poor positioning, and he was lucky they didn't score again when he just completely lost the pot on a cross, luckily they hit the post from 5 yards. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) The only defense I can give to Dida is that it is the start of the season, and some keepers generally do need a month or so behind them to get into real form. Also, Kaladze has been playing in front of him, and Nesta was just as bad as Tuesday! We'll see how he does with a better defense, if he improved, we know who to blame.. Kaladze!

Actually from my playing days, I used to uhm...for lack of a better word, moonlight as a CB. I realised it takes a lot longer to get into groove than a bloke who plays in an advanced position. I suppose maybe it's coz you see less of the ball, and at the same time you have to read the game AND it's usually a huge mess when it is time for you to step into action, I mean all players hopping in and around and the ball being passed left and right, especially when your opposition has a good attack.
So maybe the defence does take some time to get into understanding. Perhaps the reason it doesn't happen with Nesta Maldini is coz Maldini leads that partnership, and if there's ever a guy who can say 'Been there done that!' without sounding cocky it's him. Maldini is probably the best reader of the attack in the world today. Is he better than Beckenbauer I dunno...but still.
I'm gonna stand by my previous statements. No inquisitions till winter. Silvio wants to defend the CL title. That's his aim again. To put down all the detractors who claimed Milan shouldn't have been in the race at all. The Serie A seems to come second. It's worrying, but I guess that's the aim this season.
