CV = curriculum vitae. It's latin for 'resume'.

Inzaghi diving incident was pretty ugly, he really should have been carded for it. Its a shame he has that trait in his game.

As far as dida goes, I appreciate everything he's done for milan but I think its time he became 2nd choice, and an equal quality but 'stable' keeper is brought in to replace him. No denying it when dida is on song, he is the worlds best, but when he's not he's rookie like. Thats what seperates the best shot stoppers around.. quality saves but more importantly not conceding those easy goals.

Anyway I noticed R7 said 20 international trophies.. thought the article said 17?

From wikipedia:

European titles
UEFA Champions League (former European Cup)
Winners (7): 1962-63, 1968-69, 1988-89, 1989-90, 1993-94, 2002-03, 2006-07

Runners-up (4): 1957-58, 1992-93, 1994-95, 2004-05
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup
Winners (2): 1967-68, 1972-73

Runners-up (1): 1973-74
UEFA Super Cup
Winners (5): 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003, 2007

Runners-up (2): 1973, 1993
Mitropa Cup
Winners (1): 1981-82
Latin Cup (unofficial)
Winners (2): 1950-51, 1955-56
Runners-up (1): 1952-53

World-wide titles
FIFA Club World Cup (former Intercontinental Cup)
Winners (3): 1969, 1989, 1990

Runners-up (4): 1963, 1993, 1994, 2003

CL (7) + USC (5) + UCWC (2) + FCWC (3) = 17

So what are the mitropa cup and latin cup and are they included in the tally?

Also is that correct under the uefa super cup runner up years (1973, 1993)? Since we were UCWC in 1973 and CL runners-up in 1992-93.

It's correct because 1973 - super cup used to be between the CL winner and UCWC winner. 1992/1993 - we lost to Marseille 1:0 in the final but we played in both Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup cuz Marseille was disqualified.

Nonsense .. Dida is #1  (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Yeah, that goal was his mistake ... But, even though he does have those one-offs, he is pretty steady at goal most of the time.

I mean, if we are to criticize Dida for letting in a stupid goal as that one, we might as well scream at Inzaghi when he is caught offside ... Why don't we ? Because a goal keepers mistake costs us a goal for each mistake ... And considering the way Milan have been playing in the past 4 years with Dida, Milan have done great IMO (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

In the end, Dida is one of my favorite players !! So, I don't mind if he concedes a goal like that, just as long as the team wins the game in the end ... Cuz on the nights that actually counts, Dida out performs himself every time (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Although I'm with you and think the Dida criticism is exaggerated, your logic with the Inzaghi comparisom is false.

Some remembers the Zaccheroni days? Milan started in the season with their new GK, Dida infront of Abbiati. He was doing great just till the CL match against Leeds Utd. when he made a stupid error that in the end would cost us points.

So, Dida was pretty all the time unstable, he never was the clear No.1 for all times. He had problems of holding the ball I remember, he allways made a save and pushed the ball away instead of catching it. Still, his performances in the years outshined Abbiati and many other keepers (that save against Nedved,.. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ) and never was the only person to be blamed. I don`t remember any impertant match we've lost just because of Dida. Milan is a club that shows enormous gratitude to it's players and that shows the Dida example.

Someone mentioned, when we discussed the CV's, a Å imić-Chech CV comparisom. Again, false logic. This argument is irrelevant, just like the whole CV discussion. We did compare Dida, Chech and Buffon, that means keepers who play more then 80% of their official matches (if not incounted the bad injuries Buff and Chech recently had). Å imić on the other side barely makes 50%. A comparison between Dida's and Cech's CV can be made, even if it is IMO unnecessary; while the same with Chech's and Dario's CV can't be used as an argument.

All in all, my opinion is that we should start looking for a fresh keeper, not cause of the possibility that Dida looks shakey, more of the fact that we have now a injurie prone No. 1 keeper and two dinosaurs Kalac and Fiori as reserves. The Bundesliga is "the" place for talented keepers, I really cannot belive how many talents and potentials they have - Neuer, Adler, Weidenfeller, Enke, Jentsch, Rensing, Schäfer,..all of them could become NT keepers..

@ Fillipo Simone ... Sure Dida was outcast after several mistakes in the past. But again, he is only human, he is bound to make a mistake. I mean if Oliver Kahn makes a mistake, u don't expect Dida not too (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Logic with the Inzaghi comparison ?! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ... I meant to say ppl don't scream at Inzaghi when he (off side) commits an error, but rather criticize Dida for committing an error ... And gave the reason, because Dida's mistake would cost us a goal (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ... I meant to make people realize that Dida has had too much criticism, when Inzaghi and Dida both commit mistakes, but the former usually gets complimented because he scored a goal while the latter rarely gets appreciated even when he helps the team lift the CL (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Hehe .. I think looking for a young goalkeeper to replace Dida is a far fetched idea, but that is MO. Many on the forum would agree with u on this point. But for me, experience counts more than anything (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) and the club has been the reason why I believe experience is the key, because that is what they look for every time they are in the market for players (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Anyways, back to the game, I have to say Inzaghi's blunt diving got on my nerves a little bit. Gila and him are having a little competition of their own I guess. They both need to stop. Milan don't need that kind of thing.

Really what player doesn't dive these days? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Pippo has been doing it for years and most of the time he does it pretty well, I've got to say he's a professional at it.

It irritates me more when I see Gila do it these days, since up to his first season with us he never used to dive.

I think kaka' is a better example. He didn't even look for the penalty against bayern last season, he was heading straight to take the corner.

Sheva pretty much plays honestly, although the penalty he got in the world cup was a dive.

Dida got the starting nod for the CL because Abbiati was at the Olympics and Rossi was getting long in the tooth. Leeds was only his second official match with us (the first being the 4-1 win over Besiktas). He did well one week later in our 2-0 win over Barca but was parked back onto the bench when Abbiati returned.

Dont be too sure, there were some occasions where he pulled of blatant dives and was carded for them

QUOTE (Tennie @ Sep 1 2007, 06:20 PM)
Here's a translation I've done of one of the articles in today's Gazzetta. It's a rough translation and not really edited much for style, but I think it conveys the original reasonably well. (For those who have access to the print editions, the article is on page 2).

When Having a Party Becomes Difficult

At the top of Europe and the world, the night wasn't one for a party. Milan won ints 17th trophy: only the Argentines of Boca Juniors have won as many. At Tokyo in December at the World Club Cup, it will be decided who is the better. It was Inzaghi, Jankulovski and Kaka who continued a history begun in 1963 at Wembley when the names were Jose Altafini, Gianni Rivera and Cesare Maldini. The eras interlace and overlap, like the emotions this night in Monte Carlo, where football is played, but where the thoughts were always of Antionio Puerta, who destiny took away last Tuesday. The night began with the players in tears, arm in arm, at the center of the pitch before referee Plautz whistled the start of the game.

FAIR PLAY (original in english)
The players run and fight, cards are also earned (Gattuso's was the first), but it's a climate of fair play that respects that which is felt inside. The minute of silence is a minute of real silence: no cheers, no applause. Only when it's over is there a cheer from the Seville supporters: 'We want you, Antonio'. And the pain which never quite leaves a person needs to be released if one doesn't want to suffocate. The Seville supporters area is festooned with banners: 'Puerta presente' is the largest of them. All the players have Puerta's name on their jerseys under their numbers. This was decided by the Seville players as well as the Milan players: together, united, in accord on homage to a boy who was already a champion and who everyone wanted to imagine already running down the left flank.

FRIENDSHIP
During the halftime break with Seville leading 1-0, three ultras from the Milan curva emerged with a banner. They spoke with the UEFA delegate for permission and then approached the Seville stands where they unrolled the banner with their own words of sympathy: 'Onore a Puerta' (honor to Puerta). Standing ovation from the entire stadium, with even UEFA president Michel Platini approving and watching the scene with hope: for once there are no incidents, no provocations. The Seville fans chanted 'Milan, Milan' along with Puerta's name. The grand scene in the Louis II Stadium included a girl in tears, consoled by her fiance: the football game could distract for 90 minutes, but life is another thing and it's good to never forget that.

EMOTIONS
After are the goals of the Milanisti, the celebrations, and the victory. All is governed by a sobriety: no excesses, no hysteria. And when Ancelotti recalled him to the bench, Clarence Seedorf took off his jersey and pointed to the name of Puerta on the back. This was his cup, the Supercup of Antonio. That it's the 17th trophy in Milan's trophy case, in the face of such emotion, becomes a secondary fact.

He also made that terrible dive for a penalty in a cup game last season with Chelsea, I think it was against Wycombe in the Carling cup
