Inter have never been winter champions. In the last 9 years since Juve's won the title only Napoli have been winter champions twice.

Hmm, then the person I read that from was exaggerating them doing well and ending up in 4th, it was some Inter fan. This was when there were 3 CL spots

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Apr 29 2021, 03:44 PM) *
I read that we might give him a one year renewal and a 30M release clause in case we don't qualify for the CL, which is nuts. Who's gonna pay 30M for a GK who's gonna be free the next year?

What baffles me is that I keep reading Juve have a deal with Raiola. Now, he's asking us 10M per season, so I assume Raiola has also asked Juve 10M per season. But Juve are in very muddy waters right now financially, so no way they're gonna give that much money to a GK, unless they're stupid. I mean, nobody even earns that much at Juve except for Ronaldo. Which makes me wonder if Raiola is just bluffing to get as much money from us as possible.

In other news, apparently we've reached an agreement with Mirante on a free. He's gonna replace Tatarusanu.

Honestly, I think this is all a pressure game from Raiola because we won't budge from the7m offer we made, which is more than enough for a GK. He is not even worth that much imo. The only players worth that kind of money are game changers, and Donna has saved us a couple of times, but he's also cost us. A GK is replaceable

The only reason I'm saying that we should give him whatever he wants and do a long term deal is because we can get great money for him, whether this summer or the next one. Losing him for free is simply not an option imo
Fillipo Simone
Agreed. Losing him for free would undermine everything we stand for nowadays.
Rossoneri7
But loosing Donna for free is a possibility we have to consider as fans. He does hold value, but Milan won't be able to afford that if there is no CL. Due to the covid situation, the clubs that would have taken him for free and paid the 10M salary are few. Had this been any other summer, Donna would be spoiled for options.

Think the kid still wants to stay at Milan, just that he wants more exposure and if Milan don't make it to CL then the possibility of him leaving is much higher.

What we could-have and should-have done is irrelevant. Where we are today is the pickle.

Honestly do not believe that for a second. If he were as loyal as he tries to paint himself to be, he would not be pulling this sh!t on the club, especially now when the financial situation is so dire. People like to blame Raiola, but Raiola acts at the behest of his client, nothing more, nothing less. Look at the Ibra situation. Done and dusted quickly.

Donna wants more money, simple as that

But losing him on a free imo would be catastrophic to our long terms plans. Is it worse paying him 8-9m for a season or 2 and then selling him for huge profit, or lose him now for free when he is potentially worth around 80m?

I think it would be utter stupidity to not do a deal with him at this point. It will cost us more in the long-term

Same goes for Hakan. He wants 5m if I am not mistaken, meet him halfway and then sell if we can't afford it long-term. We criticise Hakan a lot, but he has stats similar to Bruno at United who everyone fawns all over.

Hakan for sure is worth over 35m. Why lose out on that over 1m or so in salary.

Honestly, the contract situations are one of the biggest let downs of this new management team. It should never have been left to fester as it has. We simply hold no leverage in these negotiations. And the same thing will happen next season with Kessie and Romagnoli if we allow things to drag on like we have with Hakan and Donna
X-Offender
Theo is one of the biggest divers I've ever seen.
Fillipo Simone
Comparing Hakan to Bruno is... ludicrous.

Maybe losing Donna for free is a possibility, but then this is a complete failure of our management. When did that happen the last time? A WC talent or player leaving a top club for free?

They have very similar stats.

See this is my point. We rag on our players and raise up players from other clubs who are basically producing similar numbers

Anyway. Someone must be smiling down on us. Atalanta and Napoli drew today

Only drawback being Inter are officially Champions. Which is such a gut punch considering where we were just 2 months ago.
Fillipo Simone
Basically similar stats? Han, I'm starting to get worried here. You were once the most rational member here, but this seasons you're stretching too far to prove some special points.

Hakan in Serie A: 29 appearances, 4 goals, 9 assists.
Bruno i EPL (a better league to start with): 33 appearances, 16 goals, 11 assists.

Hakan overall: 39 apps, 9 g, 11 assi.
Bruno overall: 52 apps, 26 g, 16 assi.

I think this discussion is over.

I know, right? I was so hoping for a tie or loss.

I think this week's results proved that this CL race is gonna carry on until the final week. All teams involved are inclined to lose points in any game.

Super League rebels could face two-year Champions League ban

The remaining four clubs -- Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan -- have so far stuck to their positions and could face the UEFA disciplinary process for, among other things, violating Article 51 of the statutes, which states that "No combinations or alliances between... clubs affiliated, directly or indirectly, to different UEFA Member Associations may be formed without the permission of UEFA.

We're a bunch of clowns. Why haven't we withdrawn from this charade yet???
Rossoneri7
Juventus game coming up in three days.

If Milan lose, all the slim hopes of a CL birth are gone, all aspiration of a decent summer transfer campaign are gone and gone are Donna and Cala on free transfers.

Juve beat Milan 3-1 at San Siro, dominated Milan actually. So I don't think Milan stands a chance this time as well, especially with all that weight sitting on the clubs shoulders.

1. They didn't dominate us.
2. We had half the starting line-up out injured.
3. Juve are, dare I say, even worse than us right now.

Saying we don't stand a chance is speaking without context. I say it's a 50-50 game and we'll play our chances.

Deserved to go 1 up i think we were the better team and great finish by diaz as well

No, I want second place...**** Atalanta!
han2503
Absolutely CLUTCH win. Finally! Some balls from this group after stumbling around for 3 months

Ibra's knee problem is worrying. don't think it's a muscular injury. He twisted his knee going down from the jump. We've been better since he came back, these next 2 games are huge for us and are basically his bread and butter. Huge blow

Aside from that, great performance all round.

Kessie needs to be taken off penalties. Hakan is the one who should be taking them. I cannot take it with his slow run and faint. It's so easy to guess what he's going to do.

Tomori and Kjear... What a performance

Agreed

Still, getting CL is the goal here. I want to be ahead of Atalanta as well. But I think winning the next 2 games will be enough for us

Amazingggg defending right? It's somewhat in lur identity to have amazing CBs!
han2503
Btw, Diaz should be on the keep list imo. Huge potential.

As for Pioli. Tactically perfect game. I was worried about the Diaz inclusion as I thought he would be too lightweight against that Juve mid/defence. But it was an inspired move

Indeed! Finally we showed some balls. We weren't spectacular, but we were compact and determined. Sometimes that's all you need.

This win is gigantic, but it will mean nothing if we don't win the next two games. I don't want our CL to be determined against Atalanta.

Ibra's injury is a huge blow. This is exactly when we needed him. As Han said, games like Torino and Cagliari are his bread and butter.

Too true

Honestly with this team, I can see us winning this game and then f@cking up against either Toro or Cagliari, who have both been much better this 2nd part of the season.

Let's see if this can boost us for the rest of the season, similar to what happened last season after we won against Juve

Btw, have to admit that after Kessie missed, I was like, well that's CL for another year. I completely thought we would let our heads drop and Juve would jump on that opening. And they sort of pressed the gas for 5 minutes but then started misplacing passes again, and I was like, okay we can do this. But that penalty could hav been a 40-50m pen for this club. Kessie has been immense this season, but he should not be our taker

Games like this make me wish we had the full squad against them back when we played them in the first round. Juve have been appalling all season imo

Likewise. I thought that missed penalty was our demise, coupled with Krunic's entrance it seemed like a scenario we've seen many times throughout this season. Thankfully Juve are just too trash.
han2503
Btw, we have better head to heads on both Juve and Napoli now. Absolutely crucial if it comes down to the wire

Inter better do us a solid and pummel them next week. I'm thinking Conte will want to beat his old club. If we win and they lose again, we're home free imo

Agreed.

I think we all agree that the club must keep Tomori

But where do you all stand on Diaz? I personally think we should keep him as he has a huge ceiling. Do you think he'd be worth the potentially 20m Real would ask for him? And with buying both of them that would mean potentially 48m already being taken out of the budget before the window even opens

Plus we have issues with practically all of the loaned players coming back (Conti, Laxalt and some others)

Don't forget Tonali as well.

Not sure about Diaz. I mean, in all honesty, he's been rather anonymous throughout most of the season, but the kid has talent and is a great utility player to have. It really depends on whether Paolo and co. will want to spend that 20M or not.
Fillipo Simone
Caldara as well. All of them are (IMO) worthless to us and should be shipped off. Perhaps Conti could stay as a backup.

As for Diaz, I don't think he's what we need to be honest. Today he played a great game, but overall he is too inconsistent, tactically too uncordinated and he does not seem to fit into Pioli's system. I'd rather we spend the money on a true winger with quality.
