Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed that he intends to stay at Milan until his contract expires in June 2012.

The 2006 World Cup winner has received an offer from Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala, but he’s committed himself to the Rossoneri.

"It was a decision made with my family in mind and Milan, who are my home,” he stated. “I chose with my heart."

The combative midfielder, now 33-years-old, joined Milan in 1999 from Salernitana.

Gattuso was also questioned for his opinion on his club’s transfer plans this summer and was inevitably asked about the identity of Mr X, the left-sided midfielder who the club will sign.

“I’ve got to be honest, I thought it was Marek Hamsik,” he noted.

The Napoli player has been heavily linked with a move to San Siro, but the Azzurri insist he is not for sale and Milan maintain that they have not made a bid for him.
