Nesta Set For Milan Return In February?
Milan star Alessandro Nesta could be set for a return to the pitch in February 2009... Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has been hampered by several injuries during his career. The latest was a serious back ailment that nearly ended the ex-Lazio man's playing days. However, it appears he could make his return to the pitch in February.
The 32-year-old left for Miami on November 7 to undergo rehibilitation so that he could recover and hopefully return to the field in the near future. The fears that his career were over have been alleviated and he is now planning his return to the Rossoneri despite missing his goal of joining his teammates for their retreat in Dubai.
Nesta has been undergoing four hours of exercise and therapy per day and his physiotherapists believe he could return to the field in February, according to tuttomercatoweb.
Nesta will remain in Miami until mid-Janaury to continue with his rehabilitation, after which he will return to Milan and concentrate on gaining his fitness back.
Despite these postivie reports on Nesta, earlier on Friday, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani was hesitant to put a timeframe on the player's complete recovery.

Even if he does not get back at all this season I wish he completely recovers from what keeps him out.

A disc problem usually means ending your sports career ... I hope Nesta doesn't suffer that fate.

Even when Nesta is back, we almost need to treat him as if he doesn't exist. Meaning if we think we need 2 World class CBs, we need 2 World class CBs + Nesta. He's injured far too much to be relied upon now. Hope he has a quick recovery and gets back to his best.

I think we've seen the last of him, and how my heart aches saying that

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta could need surgery to resolve a persistent back problem that has ruled him out of the season so far.
The 32-year-old has made just one appearance for the Rossoneri since June 16 and that was in a friendly against FK Tirana.
A slipped disc, which protrudes out and into the nerves around his spine, has caused Nesta’s back to repeatedly flare up.
The former Lazio youngster has flown to Miami on a number of occasions in the last year to seek specialist treatment, but nothing appears to be working.
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani will meet with Coach Carlo Ancelotti at the Rossoneri’s summer training camp in Dubai on January 7 to discuss the matter and its implications for the transfer window.
The seven-time European Cup winners have the worst defensive record in the top six and have already made moves to strengthen their backline.
Thiago Silva will join the club from Fluminense in the summer and Arsenal’s William Gallas is reportedly being targeted in the January sales
channel4.co.ukthink that puts paid to any chance of a February return...see you next season Alessandro

I'm afraid I think you are right there Kurt
I have heard that we are going after Mexes - the report I read said we were going to offer $16m and Gourcuff!! I can only hope that was a joke

Just terrible. No way in hell will Nesta play this season, whether or not he goes under the knife. First Gattuso, and now him. Unbelievable. When did he first hurt his back?
I hope that Mexes talk is a rumor, as he hasn't done much this season.

I hope this isn't going to be another MvB case for Milan. it's true I don't like to see an old Milan, but Nesta is simply too young to retire. hope surgery can fix this problem...

Much as it makes me sad to say it, I think this is it for Nesta. The more speculative press in Italy is saying he'll for sure have surgery -- if that happens then it really is probably over. He's had back problems all his life - why he started playing football in the first place - and this is really serious stuff. I'd like him back and playing as much as anyone (except perhaps dst) but...I am very much afraid we've seen him play his last game.

I don't think he won't play even one more game. he's going to become like Serginho, probably. more off the pitch than on it.

Though I am skeptical about him returning stronger than before, Im confident that he will play again. He has been through several injuries in the past, but came back

Not sure why a dead thread is being resurrected but...
On the subject of Nesta's injury during the Napoli game, milannews states that he apparently pulled a thigh muscle. They'll be doing tests to see how bad it is. Fishdoll hopes it's not bad or, well, we're hosed.

That just sucks for Nesta, especially since it came just days after his superhuman performance at Chievo. I just hope he was pulled early as a precaution.
I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the thread title. Kudos to whomever edited it appropriately.
