NYON, Switzerland (AP) - Seven-time European champion AC Milan will play Werder Bremen in the next round of the UEFA Cup following Friday's draw.

Milan will visit the German club on Feb. 18 or 19 and host it the following week, with the winner advancing to meet Olympiakos or St. Etienne in the round of 16.

Werder is one of eight teams which dropped into the competition after being eliminated from the more prestigious Champions League.

"There have been luckier days in Werder's history," Bremen chairman Juergen Born said. "But the toughest thing is going to be starting with a home game. Our fans will certainly prefer traveling to Milan. At the very least it will be an interesting game. We're looking forward to meeting all the great players Milan have."

With Kaka, Ronaldinho, Andriy Shevchenko and Alexandre Pato in its squad, Milan qualified from its first-round group with two wins and two draws.

Defending champion Zenit St. Petersburg was drawn against Stuttgart after the Russian team also dropped into the UEFA Cup, while 2005 champion CSKA Moscow will play Aston Villa.

If the English team makes it through, it could come up against Premier League rival Tottenham after the two-time champion was drawn against Shakhtar Donetsk.

"It's going to be a tough trip for us," Tottenham secretary John Alexander said. "Of all of the teams we could have played, we would have naturally liked to have had one closer to home.

"But the possibility of a game against Aston Villa will fire the players up."

Former European champion Ajax takes on Fiorentina, 2000 UEFA Cup winners Galatasaray plays Bordeaux and Spanish hopeful Valencia meets Dynamo Kiev in other matchups.
