Francesco Totti has revealed that Ronaldinho's performance on Sunday left him enthralled.

The AS Roma captain admitted that the skills displayed by the Brazilian superstar on his debut for AC Milan should be encouraged to make football more entertaining.

He said: "It was pleasing to watch the tricks of Ronaldinho, confirming that world-class champions can make the difference and entertain.

"There needs to be more space given to the imagination and invention of fantastic players, so that they can entertain the public.

"Football may be a team game but it is also entertainment and youngsters should find delight in trying to imitate the skill shown by the world-class stars."

However, the 31-year-old was not surprised by Bologna's win over the Rossoneri at the San Siro nor with his own side's inability to defeat Napoli, maintaining that the rest of Serie A had made an impressive effort to level the playing field with the top five clubs.

He said: "The championship got underway on Sunday when we were unfortunate to meet the team that started before everybody and so were ahead in their preparation. However, our little slip-up coincided with the same by the other big clubs, so we got off to an equal start.

"Milan's defeat might surprise many, but we need to get used to these unexpected results because the smaller clubs have put themselves in the condition to create problems for the bigger ones."

Totti rather seems to like Milan. Or maybe has respect for us. smile.gif It shows in his interviews and comments. In the 2007 CL final he said he'd be supporting Milan. Too bad it won't make up some of his reputation in my eyes, after the shtick he's pulled up recently.

But good words like these should be appreciated, at the very least.

Totti should stop his b/s-talking and learn how to take penalties.

Huh? What has he done now?

Totti is one of Italy's top players ... He is like an ambassador of Calcio, right up there with Maldini. What he says usually is something respected in Italy. Regardless of his reputation as a 'hot head' on the pitch.

His hot hotheadedness has cooled down in recent seasons. But he does deserve a similar level of respect that Maldini gets. Firstly he is an ambassador to UNICEF, secondly is his devotion and loyalty to club, something only legends such as Paolo and Bergomi deserve. Plus he is one of the most skilled attackers in the world today, even if his penalty taking is as consistent as De Rossi's

At Roma, he is called the King....
Anyways, Maldini is far more sup king.gif erior from Totti.
Totti is high tempered and usually he can lose control of himself. devilsmiley.gif
While Maldini....Well i prefer not to describe him... biggrin.gif

Totti has a bad temper. Still, he deserves respect.

Totti is more known for his stupidity than his temperament, in France there's Toto and in Italy there's Totti laugh.gif By the way, did anyone read his jokes book?

In Scherzi he's so embarrassing!!!

Stupidity? Well we all say things every now and then that isn't very smart, but unlike us Totti usually have a camera or a microphone getting stuck into his face all the time...and responding to allegations of stupidity by publishing a joke book about yourself and donating the income to UNICEF is just...CLASS
Tennie
Agreed, Locke.

I'm not a big fan of Totti, but that was a class gesture.

Materazzi did something similar a couple of years ago. His book was 'Things I Could Have Said to Zidane', and the proceeds also went to UNICEF.
pacang

nice haircut, tendency to chip the goalkeeper, the jump-and-stomp-your-opponent move, italian captain..

regardless he's got temper or not, i still think he's a cool guy..
