Al Ittihad set Barcelona date
(AFP) Tuesday 13 May 2008
Barcelona will travel to Saudi Arabia's port city of Jeddah to face Al Ittihad in a friendly on 26 May, the Spanish giants have revealed.
The match will be held at the 27,000-seater Abdullah al-Faisal stadium, which Al Ittihad, Saudia Arabia's oldest club, shares with local rivals Al Ahly. It will be the Catalan club's first visit to the country.
Plans for a game to be played in Kuwait have been put on hold for the time being, Barcelona added in a statement.
The match will be played six days after Barcelona's arch-rivals Real Madrid are scheduled to face local side Al Nasr in Riyadh, the capital of Saudia Arabia.
Last year Barcelona also ended their season in the Middle East with a 4-0 win over Al-Ahly in Egypt. Bojan Krkic made his first-team debut during the friendly.
