These next 3 games before the derby are all must win, so let's see if we can do a professional job on Pescara today without too much drama

Lazio won yesterday, Inter and Fiorentina will most likely win their fistures as well, so it's imperative we don't drop points here

I must say, for someone who grew up watching Pirlo, Gattuso and Seedorf, that midfield trio looks like some Serie B stuff.

Because, as we all know, Paletta and Vangioni own the life out of Maldini and Jankulovski tongue.gif

Dude, you've said that in nearly every match thread this season biggrin.gif

No, I mean as a unit. At least in the back we have Donna, Romagnoli and MDS too, and in attack Bacca and Deulofeu. But the midfield is just horrifying.

Well it is imperative that we don't drop points tongue.gif

But seriously, this season it feels like every week is make or break. I never expected teams like Lazio or Atalanta to stay so consistent throughout the season

Nice one Paletaa rolleyes.gif

OMG, my eyes glimpsed at something that resembled Muntari... Oh, wait...
X-Offender
Watching Sosa today has been a nightmare.

Hmm, terrible pass but Donna was sleeping there.

True but the initial pass was killer, why would he pass that high to his own keeper?

Anyway, losing points against Pescara...

Because Paletta doesn't know how to pass. Have you seen him trying to play the ball? Worse than Abbiati.
X-Offender
Oh dear, we couldn't defeat even the punching bags of the league. Another season in the trash can. See you in August.
han2503
Terrible.

And I don't even blame Montella, even for the pathetic subs, he simply has no options off the bench.
Danny
Fed up with Milan. On top of being fed up with Rangers.

Meh.

It's that kind of moment which has me not buying into the Donna hype any more. The pass back wasn't great, true, but a 200M (?) keeper should not allow that to happen.

Meh.

I've seen Buffon make that kind of mistake in the past before, more than once. To expect an 18 year old to be perfect at all times is simply unrealistic.

Mistakes will happen, it's inevitable, he's still learning and developing. The point is that the talent is there and letting him go would be a disaster for us

I agree. Where Donna fails right now is in experience. His positioning sometimes is questionable and he doesn't make the best of decisions. But when it comes to saves, the guy can make incredible ones. His agility in the air is quite impressive. With time he can only improve. Unless an unrealistic offer comes, we should hold him tight.

The worse a team is, the better their goalie looks as they have to work harder. We've managed to make Abbiati look world class at times in the past. I'm not discrediting Donna totally, I just don't rate him as the keeper I did 6 months ago.

As for decision making, he was better earlier in the season for that - he's made increasing number of errors, errors I just don't ever remember him making last year.

But I'm alone on this so I've said my piece and will say no more.

(otoh Romagnoli has REALLY grown on me - maturing into one of the best defenders around. Makes the game look easy)
han2503
Milan - Palermo in 5 minutes for anyone interested

Inter losing 2-0, we're winning by the same margin. If things stay as is and Lazio lose tonight this could be a perfect Sunday

Which makes it even more annoying the fact we couldn't defeat Pescara.

Yep, some of the points we lost this season have been so frustrating, Genoa, Udinese (twice!!), Pescara, and others we should have won. I'd rather have lost that game to Juve in October and won all the others that we should have won on paper, we'd be 3rd by now had we been able to do that
X-Offender
This is where Montella frustrates me the most. We're comfortably winning 4-0 against Palermo and he subs Suso for Antonelli. WTF man!

Meh, he doesn't have much options and it's a good opportunity to give a player coming from a long lay off a run out without any pressure on him

Don't get me wrong, his subs frustrate me as well, but I do believe that's mostly because he has his hands tied in terms of selection off the bench. He doesn't have any game changers

Plus he had to take off Suso as he's also coming off a long injury and it was already a risk playing him today considering we have the derby coming up next week
han2503
Inter with 6 minutes of added time rolleyes.gif

Inter lose!! biggrin.gif

Great boost for us ahead of the derby while they're coming off 2 losses now.
han2503
So Inter lost, Fiorentina and Atalanta drew and Lazio play Napoli tonight

We're 3 point behind Lazio (in 4th atm) with an extra game played.

I think EL for next season could be a very realistic expectation now depending on how we do in the derby and the game against Atalanta, with Roma being our last difficult hurdle.

I hope we can take advantage of Inter's dip next week, it would be a great boost for us making this final push to getting back into Europe, even if it is just the EL

Asmuch as Ihope it does. I would rather not get too excited and in a humble manner anticipate an attempt for a comeback from them. And what better occasion than the derby. It goes both ways like that and we dont get our expectations too high.

EL is still a possibility for Milan, regardless of the upcoming derby result. The team certainly needs European exposure.

Agreed, but I think it helps a bit (even if it is very, very little), for us to be going into the game on a high while Inter have hit a rough patch

Add to that, atm everything looks like we're heading for the closing with the new ownership so that's another incentive for the players to do well.

We'll see, obviously if we lose or draw it's not the end of the road, far from it. Atalanta and Lazio have a difficult fixture list ahead as well, so we'll get other opportunities to make it into the top 6

He could have played Ocampos or someone offensive. Taking off a forward for a leftback when you're winning 4-0 is moronic.

Here we are again, nitpicking during a 4-0 match. Classic MF negativity.

Personally I don't think it makes much difference what changes you make when you're winning by that margin. Actually I think it's a great opportunity to give players who aren't getting much regular playing time a run out, no matter what position they occupy

I would judge him had he made that move if we were drawing but in this case, when we're winning so comfortably, it doesn't really matter to me.

Btw, I read somewhere that we have as many points now, while still having 7 games to go as we did last season in total
