Yup, up late and thinking about Milan ha.

Thought I'd make a thread to give an assessment on each player of note in the squad. Feedback naturally appreciated.

Abbiati: A reliable, dependable if imperfect stopper who gives his all and has been dignified from the word go. Good deputy to have albeit prone to bad clangers. Particularly good at reaction saves from distance.

Lopez: Increasingly looking the part, game by game. Took a little time to settle in, but we now seem to be getting the Madrid Lopez, and he's clearly number 1.

Abate: Best season of his life - decent at the back and rampaging going forward. Been very good for a long time but this season has elevated him to borderline world class.

MDS: Been rotten on the left this season, as he was last season on both left and right, but when recently switched to the right looked the best he has for almost a year. Needs to be nurtured properly, has potential to be special but his form is unreliable.

Armero: Barely been given a chance, but what little we've seen has been adequate, if nothing exceptional.

Bonera: Been ghastly this season, albeit word is he had a decent match today (didn't truly see it - even forgot to rate him) but that's one in 12 matches. Been properly awful and should only be used in absolute emergencies. Which today wasn't.

Zapata: Apart from the Palermo match he's been our second best defender, but rotation has not brought the best out of him. He's rightly complained about it, but then got promptly dropped again. Needs a run but isn't going to get it, and will probably be leaving in January.

Alex: Our best defender - imperious, titan in the air, superb at snuffing out danger, top class positional sense. If fit must always always start. But needs a counter foil, and that isn't Mexes. Zapata is his best type of partner but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now.

Rami: Unreliable in the centre, but really superb in his RB cameo. Not a defender you can depend on, but a surprisingly good RB.

Mexes: Patchy. At times looks collosal, at others makes rash errors and gets caught out. But he's played two in a row now and may just have turned a corner under Pippo.

De Jong: Plain and simple our best player. Hasn't been quite doing it consistently in the past while, probably due to being weighed down, but when able to do his thing, he's world class.

Essien: Let's admit it - he's been much improved this season. He was a disaster when we signed him, truly awful, but he's settled in now and has produced two excellent displays in a row now. His other appearances this season have been decent.

Muntari: Gets in some collosal blocks and tackles, but lets himself down with poor concentration, bad composure and lazy passing. Weighs in with a crucial goal now and then. A real Jekyll and Hyde kind of player.

Poli: Utterly totally reliable. Never lets his team mates down, fights endlessly, and a great player to have whether he starts or comes on. Capable of the odd decent bit of skill too.

Monto: Let's see what he produces in the coming months. If it's 2012/2013 form he'll be a great asset. If last season's he'll be terrible. Hopefully the former.

MvG: Looks a solid player with composure on the ball and slick user of it, with good passing. But needs to settle in and actually get starts otherwise his head will go.

Bona: Has fight, pace, power, and a creative spark. Needs to be deep in midfield to link it to attack - that's what he did today and looked good. But has that gritty Poli type of worker attitude which makes him invaluable.

Honda: Other than his direct free kicks and occasional goals he offers almost nothing. He had a few sparkling games a month ago but he's reverted to type and looks flat. Can't cross, can't pass, can't produce set piece delivery, and has no vision at all. I don't even think him playing in the treq role will help. He just isn't that good a player.

Menez: Our best attacker. Selfish g*t at times, and thinks it's all about him, but he DOES have the talent as today showed. He just needs to use his PS3's X button a bit more and play for the team.

SES: Perennial failure. Will never stop working off the ball and deeper as a defender but as an attacker has just nothing to give. And that's meant to be his role.

Torres: Zero confidence, lost 30% pace, doesn't dribble, rarely moves into a position to receive a pass, and seems to just watch the game unfold around him. The old Torres has gone and I'll be stunned if he's still here come January.

Pazzo: Off form for almost 2 years now. Just not producing what he did when he joined, and no sign of it starting this season either.

Thoughts, chaps?
