Good result for the Azzurri. Also means that Italy now has to take Costa Rica seriously, rather than going into the game with the cavalier attitude we usually have when playing underdogs.

He'll be far from 100% in both games and right now they should more worry about their defence anyway.

England have been too passive off the ball, giving Italy too much time. On the ball we've been good though, could easily have scored 3 that half. Brilliant run in behind and cross from Rooney for the goal.

Cassano for Candreva please!

A bit unlucky at the end there, should have scored the second.
I really hope Prandelli will bring Abate in for Paletta and put Chiellini back to the middle. Without that, we'll concede at least one more.

Agreed England have been holding back the pressure, not sure why but I don't mind.
Italy is dominating the possession, but getting crowded out in and around the box.
I think we can benefit from some who can thread in the passes such as Cassano.
We also need to start taking our shots as England have been doing.

I don't think the Italian got near the ball and made contact with Gerrard.

Darmian has been decent. Candreva did nothing in the first half. In this second one he's been good, but mostly on counterattacks.
And yes, there was contact, but it was minimal. Gerrard accentuated his fall.

England: Very lazy off the ball, struggled down the left flank. On the ball, very good, created more than enough to win the game.
Italy: The lesser known players and, as always, Pirlo dominate the game. Look pretty shaky at the back though.
Good game. Close game Italy just took more chances.

England certainly didn't deserve to lose. I think Prandelli weakened his side with his changes, it made Italy much more susceptible to England's pressure. All in all, a great game to watch.
PS: Darmian was a rock defensively, Pirlo demonstrated once again he's a genius.

Prandelli needs to bring Chiellini inside and do something about the LB position, Paletta was poor.
I don't think England will go through now, this was a must-not-lose game and we lost.
