What of this link with the Ghanian U-20 player? Anything concrete?

And are the rumors of Huntelaar being shipped out to be taken with some degree of certainty?
whoarethepatriots
Exactly how good is this Ghanaian player supposed to be that we are linked with?
Tennie
Well, he was named golden boot at the U20s. Had some nice goals. As I recall from the games I saw, he's rather short but quite powerful. He's an interesting pick and the Italian press seems almost certain that he'll come to Milan. (This, by the way, would take up our one remaining non-EU spot, I think).

We can always discard him in a year or two for no reason at all like we did to the Uruguayans

Isn't he the guy who refused to come back to his English club from international break?

i think yea
Bluesummers
Yeah hes done, Adiyiah is most likely going to end up signing a 3 year deal. Anyways this selection was decided by Leo from what i've heard. We were going to sign him next summer but apparantly things were getting out of hand especially with his form being so hot. We were supposed to only pay .5m but as you can see we paid somewhere around 1.3 million. If we had waited any longer he would have become more expensive.

Anyways on the player himself:

Dominic Adiyiah

age: 20 (july 10/1989)

height: He's about 5 feet 8 inches or 173 cm

He was scouted by feynerood academy at the age of 11 and he was deemed one of the best to come out of Ghana in a long time. He grew in holland and then swapped a few places.

He's strong and f*cking fast as hell. You guys think pato is fast? Wait until this school kid steps on the field. His dribbling skills are quality (not as good as the duck but not bad).

Anyways what we bought him for is probably to give Pato some breathing room as he needs rest. Its obvious that right now we have no sub for him and taking him off is too risky. So he will play in that role or at least thats what i've heard Leo will use him for.

But its all just talk. Huntelaar was supposed to rip it up but hes flopped in Serie A so far. So he can flop as well. We'll have to be patient with this one.
Bluesummers
oh and becks is done, he'll be announced this week.
Bluesummers
so far we have acquired:

Baretta: 18
Zigoni: 19
Adiyiah: 20

These are all star youth players supposidly. I think our future is looking brighter. Abate is 22, Pato is 20 and We have Silva who is 25, who imo looks worldclass already.
Jack Sparrow
Yup. Better late than never. But the important thing is there's still a strong bunch of veterans here to provide guidance. biggrin.gif

You also forgot to mention Paloschi in that list. Now I wanna see some mid-fielders in the youth.

do you honestly think we'll use him next season? I have my doubts. I honestly hope we do but I think he might be spending another season somewhere else. Meaning we'll buy him and co-own him again.
Jack Sparrow
Paloschi's purchase depends on how well Huntelaar does. If he does well, then Paloschi can wait till Pippo goes, though I'd rather see Paloschi apprenticed to Pippo.

Adiyah is official from Galliani now.

That's going a bit far. I'm one of his bigger fans on here, but World class? Come on. That'd be like me saying James Collins at Villa is World Class, just because he's yet to do a thing wrong. He's been great, no doubt, but he's still probably not even a top 20 CB.

If the Huntelaar of Ajax returns then same thing as what you said about the Borriello haters...give him time he needs to learn the language the playing system and life in Italy in general...given the chance he will come good

Huntelaar dosent fit into the system. We need a target man more than him. I havent completely lost faith in the Dutchman though, he needs to improve by the end of the season otherwise the management should consider his future
BVR
Was posted before that the new signing grew up in Holland, does that mean that he holds Holland citizenship?, and is considered an EU player? I'd hate to see us use up our non-EU spot for another striker and not a badly needed 19 year old ACM.

Why do we need a target man when we play the ball on the floor?
After all Ajax played 4-3-3 with him in it so he can play 4-3-3 with us...patience is needed thats all

I don't think we'd waste a non-EU spot for an unproven youngster. He will either be loaned out or be sent to the Primavera if he does not have a European passport. Or maybe he is that good!?

he'll be sent to the first team. From what i've heard Leo saw him playing for ghana during the u20s and he was interested. i'm quite positive becks and him will be getting playing time.
Bluesummers
oh yes our non eu went to him

mishie agree with your posts earlier, he needs time. If borriello and gilardino got time to prove their worth to a certain level, huntelaar is no different.

ghana played brazil in u20 final and lost to pens. Give the man some credit. In the final against brazil's youth is no easy task.

All I'm saying is a good goal (or 8) does not mean he is ready to play for Milan's first team.

Beckham plays right wing, and the new guy is a striker. We badly need ACM. Given that our non-eu spot is wasted, which one of the EU players do you think we need/will get in January?

eventhough you are right, we are no longer playing with a ACM. We are now employing RF/LF and ST instead.

Actually if the team is playing well, then we have the luxury of giving him time. But if the team isn't and we need strikers to score fast, that's when these transfer cases tend to be sold very quickly so that a replacement can be brought in.

Inter are playing well...so Quaresma can be as useless as he pleases. People just give up on him, and if he does come good then wow! Inter did a good thing being patient with him.

On the other hand if Inter don't play well, then the decision is scrutinised and there's pressure to get rid of him.

As for KJH...I read somewhere than MvB only scored 3 goals for Milan in his first season.

Personally, I'd leave the decision upto the coach and management.
Bluesummers
KJH is first of all dutch so he speaks no italian. He played in the spanish league for the last 6-8 months which ofcourse completely changes a striker. Its no wonder he can't score and I don't really blame him. He needs time.

He hasn't gotten the concept that italian football is all about the counter attacks and the striker needs to push the defenders as far up the field as possible. He drops for the ball expecting to be able to make his own chances, well in italy that doesn't work. In spain and holland that works perfectly.

I honestly don't expect a half decent performance until january. If he can't even talk, which is one of the basic necessities for playing; he shouldn't be on the field.

Official: Milan deal for Ghana hero
________________________________________
Milan have officially confirmed a deal for Ghana Under-20 World Cup winning sensation Dominic Adiyiah.
“We have signed the young Ghanaian Dominic Adiyiah,” Vice-President Adriano Galliani told Milan Channel.
“There is a deal with the Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK. Now he needs to get the work permit to enter Italy and we will deposit the contract on January 1.
“Naturally he has to pass his medical first and then he will be our player. We bought him because he is a wide striker who can play in place of Alexandre Pato or Ronaldinho.
“Our system has changed now and we needed a wide forward who could train with those we already have at our disposal, so we made a move.”
It is a sensational swoop for the Rossoneri, as Adiyiah dominated the recent Under-20 World Cup, ending up with the Golden Shoe as top scorer with eight goals, the Golden Ball for player of the tournament and of course the winners’ medal.
Ghana defeated Brazil in the Final last month on penalties.
Milan are also expected to announce the return of David Beckham on loan from LA Galaxy during the January transfer window.

...Seems like we might lose Pato in the not so very far future..??
Bluesummers
oh yeah man, just wait. 2-3 seasons and madrid will come knocking. With Silvio being the c*nt that he is, he will be sold. I just hope he rejects them. Hes going to become a star very soon. Next season he will take the world by storm.

Agreed. The article is implying he will be an understudy to them, much like Di Gennaro. It isnt saying they will be sold in the near future
