Adriano Galliani made statements on a variety of topics today at the Milan Business Forum:

QUOTE
"I will only talk about these things after 31 May. Fabio Cannavaro is not in our sights even though I admire him a lot as a footballer. For next year we have decided to buy players who have yet to make the big jump in their careers. We won't buy any keepers, we'll go on with Abbiati, Dida, and Kalac."

QUOTE
"There are no doubts or problems concerning Ricky or Carlo Ancelotti. Kaká cleared up the situation with me and with Jean Pierre Meersseman. His healing is physiological, it was normal he would come back after the sixth week of recovering."

QUOTE
"The future isn't good for Italian football, there are unsurmountable structures which don't allow us to be on the same level as Spain and England like the different tax system and the privatisation of the stadiums."

QUOTE
"With less injuries we could have had a different season, the primary objective remains the third place to participate to the Champions League next year." On Ronaldinho: "It's up to the coach whether to make him play, he's had a positive season."

Ancelotti Is The Best In The World - Milan Vice President Galliani

After Wednesday's summit between Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and coach Carlo Ancelotti, there have been a lot of rumours circulating on what might have been discussed by the two men. However, according to Galliani there will not be major changes and in particular he confirmed once again Ancelotti will stay on as coach.

"Milan's future coach is Ancelotti," he said to journalists during the club's business forum, which was held near Brescia. "The next one should preferably be a former great player of the [Silvio] Berlusconi era, but that's not a dogma or a commandment.

"Carlo is like [famous cyclist] Fausto Coppi, a lonely man in command, he is the only one in the world who has won the Champions League twice both as a player and a coach: he doesn't need to beat anyone."

After Inter coach Jose Mourinho recently stated that Milan are the only club in the world to have lost a Champions League final after going 3-0 up, against Liverpool in 2005, Galliani refused to hit back.

"Answering Mourinho only serves to inflate his larger than life fame, so I will not answer him anymore no matter what he says," Galliani concluded.

Nowhere in the article or in the original Italian did Galliani state that Ancelotti is best in the world. smile.gif

I'm actually proud that he didn't reply to Mourinho, even more proud that he didn't reply be saying something like 'count our CL titles to yours'.

Best way to respond to Jose IMO

And why is he constantly babbling on about the tax system in Italy? As far as I'm aware the top tax rate here is 40% the same as Italy and, more recently, Spain. If the tax system is so bad in Italy perhaps he should have a word with Berlusconi???

It's not so much the personal income tax (which is pretty high) but the business tax, I think. Not sure of the details though.

Also is there some difference in the taxation system for foreigners. Esp. when you consider that for almost all the big teams their top earners are foreigners.

Its the sporting tax in Italy .. UK and Spain get tax breaks both for the clubs and players. But in Italy, the clubs really suffer from it.
