I feel ashamed...

Always liked him. Can be useful.
Good move.

With this, Beckham can say - at the end of his career - that he played for the 3 biggest clubs in the world. Not bad ain't it?
Portman
BTW:

Jokes of AC Holywood/AC Galacticos/AC Cosmos/Milan Globethroters... will start at any moment. cool.gif

Zed.D
Yeah, some people used to mock Real for Galacticos era but now that label suits Milan better than any club in the world. even Galliani admitted it's for commercial reasons!!
Zed.D
Had we managed to reach the CL, I think, such move would never have happened.

This is annoying, we don't need a former player in Milan. I hope it does not materialize.

That really is a great achievement!

Of course not. This is happening because we're not in the CL and we need 'that' $$$ as any other top-team.

Makes sense.

+1 with Porty. He's a useful player in more ways than one. Poor Emerson is going to be benched even more.

And now we can genuinely play a 4-4-2 with two wingers..wow...

PS I hate that system.
han2503
@ jack, does Beckham even still have that type of stamina to play on the flanks? I think best way to play him would be as a Pirlo or Seedorf alternative in the midfield 3, he's a great passer of the ball and can be a real alternative to Pirlo (the closest we can get to that imo)
CrazyMilanFan
i am ok with beckham we will sell shirts now specilly in asia

Unbelievable
Now we have Pirlo,Dinho and Beckham for free kicks!

Don't you start like Suzy Campagnale now. Beckham is a good long passer and a dead ball specialist. But besides that he is nothing like Pirlo or Seedorf. For starters he doesn't have anything other than the most basic close control of the ball, and has absolutely no clue in beating an opposing player.

Beckham's style is running down the flank, and upon finding his way blocked cross it. biggrin.gif

I don't obviously think he'll play all 90 minutes to start with. Perhaps make small guest appearances. But it's ok.

If it means Emerson will go/become absolute bench warmer in Serie A games then I'm all for it!

Again, if it means +2000 more people will come to San Siro every week, I won't complain about it ever again! cause the view of empty stands torture me to no end...

So he can't play the Pirlo role but he can play as a winger!? If by winger you mean someone who crosses as soon as he gets into the opposition half then fine.

i'm fine with a loan deal

goal.com (insert laughter) is saying that this could turn into a permanent deal by the end of the season.
CrazyMilanFan
gallaini is doing gud in recovering the money we lost for not qualifying for UCL

unsure.gif I guess if its a loan deal it ain't soo bad - we could make some good cash from jersey sales biggrin.gif , and Hey if he manages to adapt to our system - Great! wink.gif

I honestly don't know what to think about this transfer. I have not followed Becks progress in the MLS. but if he can bring in more money into the club then I guess thats fine.
gal_kenny
F***k that goal crap saying it could be a permanent deal..Its just like how Man Utd bought Henrik Larson on loan and he helped them win the premiership...I'm not happy about the move but i hope it could be helpful to us not just money wise but help us win the scudetto and uefa cup ..Real talk...I'm not happy about the move though..(maybe this is that extra umph that we need to win the scudetto)..Arsenal said they wouldn't field him in a competitive match i don't know why milan accepted...

he cant really play as a winger anymore since he cant run for his life, he plays mostly CM for the galaxy, and i'm sure he'll play the pirlo role when he comes on, that or gattuso right midfield position.
Habitant
this may be somewhat benificial for the club, especially economically but i would rather he dint come since this confirms this club has become a JOKE!
Warchant
one thing this will bring is emotion (beside gattuto's).

one thing i've really noticed about him since coming to LA is that he's not afraid to get in someways face. sometimes i think our players are too nice.

i guess we'll just have to wait and see how this turns out.
KillerMax
I feel exactly like when Sheva rejoined us. Nothing.

And our players are not too nice. Besides Gattuso, there is Ambro, Seedorf who is so self-righteous he drives everybody crazy, and also there is Kaka who does gets pretty pissed off when he is tackled one too many times.
gal_kenny
"Our formation doubts concern Gattuso and Seedorf. We will try again again in the next training session"

I heard about the formation Carlo said in his press conference...what do ya'll think of this? is he trying to integrate Beckham into a milan's line up with a different formation?
Fillipo Simone
Signing Beckham??? Oh my...

One thing is to protect family players like Ba or Fiori but this...
What use could we now have with Beckham?? Damn Capello, it's his fault sure!
MizNelson
How pathetic. Are we interested in collecting washed-up big names or going for the Scudetto?

Unbelievable. dry.gif Shame on you, Galliani.

LONDON (AP) - David Beckham's proposed loan move to AC Milan could be more than just a temporary deal and might mean "arrivederci" for good to the Posh 'n Becks show in America.

At a time when Major League Soccer will be in its off season and Beckham isn't playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, he badly needs competitive action to keep his spot on the England squad.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said Wednesday the club is close to finalizing a deal for Beckham to join the Italian side in January and play in Serie A for a few months before returning to Los Angeles.

But there could be more to Beckham's move to Milan, a glamorous city as famous for its fashion industry as for football and opera.

It could be an ideal new home for Beckham and his wife Victoria, the Spice Girl now heavily into promoting her own fashion lines.

If her husband teams up at Milan with the likes of Brazilian stars Ronaldinho and Kaka, it will raise his profile back in Europe again. It would also increase his own commercial earnings.

Milan could consider transforming the loan deal into a permanent move and buy out the remainder of Beckham's five-year contract with the Galaxy, for whom his appearances and performances have been inconsistent.

Beckham announced his move to the Galaxy in January 2007, although he didn't start playing for the team until July of that year after the conclusion of his contract with Real Madrid.

Although Beckham's move to America was greeted by hype and hoopla, it has hardly been a major success.

Beckham hobbled into MLS with an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for weeks and, although his arrival was responsible for a big hike in sales of tickets and merchandise, his impact on the field was minimal.

For the second year in a row, Los Angeles has failed to make it to the MLS playoffs after a season when the president/general manager who took him there, Alexi Lalas, was fired.

In his short spell, Beckham has played under three coaches, Frank Yallop, Ruud Gullit and Bruce Arena. Four, if you count stand-in Cobi Jones, who took charge of one game before Arena replaced Gullit.

Such a history suggests Beckham could be going nowhere with the Galaxy, despite his salary of US$6.5 million a year - twice that of the next highest earner.

Although Beckham and his family are friends and neighbors with another celebrity couple, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the former England captain may consider his football career could stagnate if he stays in Los Angeles.

A return to Europe, where he won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League with Manchester United and the Spanish league with Real Madrid, would certainly mean the chance of more medals.

Milan is climbing in the Serie A title race and doing well in the UEFA Cup.

The Italian club is a seven-time winner of European football's most prestigious club competition, now known as the Champions League, and Beckham would join a star-studded lineup - Ronaldinho, Kaka, Andriy Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso and Filippo Inzaghi.

With his trademark free kicks and accurate passes, Beckham would fit in well in that company. He would also stand a good chance of keeping his place on the England squad, now under the guidance of hugely successful former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello, who also was his coach at Real Madrid.

"I advised Galliani to take Beckham because he'll only help the squad, compared to other players which, in some cases, are a risk," said former Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi, who also had a spell as sporting director at Real Madrid when the former England captain was there. "Beckham is a great professional and an exceptional guy. He's not going to be a bother, and if he's still the player I knew a few years ago, he'll give something extra to the team.

"In the past, great players like Rivaldo and Ronaldo weren't able to insert themselves, but I think Beckham will work well reciprocally, for him and for the team. When I coached I tried to bring in the youngest and most ready people I could find. But there are always exceptions, and Beckham is one."

Beckham hasn't started any of England's four World Cup qualifying victories so far, although Capello brought him on as a late substitute each time.

That means the 33-year-old Beckham is still in his thoughts. But Capello had made it clear to Beckham and other players that he does not select those who are not in regular competitive action.

With England friendlies to come against Germany in November and Spain and Slovakia early next year, Beckham doesn't want to lose his place before World Cup qualifying resumes against Ukraine on April 1 and Kazakhstan and Andorra in June.

A move to Europe and regular starts for Milan would help him stay on course for what he hopes would be a fourth World Cup in South Africa in 2010. If he stays in MLS with the Galaxy, Beckham might end up watching it on TV.

Aaargh...semantics...fine then...not a winger....wide midfielder...tongue.gif

Beckham didn't do jackdiddly for the LA Galaxy and they still sucked, with their record well below .500 (not counting draws). This is little more than a ploy for Galliani to put asses in the seats and for Beckham to try to get into Capello's good graces so he can get back on the England team.

How could that ever happen? Isn't it an enormous contract he has signed with them? And if it's still 5 years it sure is impossible! smile.gif

... unsure.gif
Jack Sparrow
I guess...they can buy out Galaxy's contract. That enormous amount includes the endorsement deals that come along with Beckham.

But since Milan is already an adidas team I suppose it might not be an issue. Adidas said they'd pay x amount of money to supplement the LA wage right? And Posh thought she could make it big in Hollywood. laugh.gif

actually he played very well. the galaxy do not have very good strikers for beckham to service to. US fans (idiots) thought beckham would come in and score 50 goals...not realizing that he is just an assist man.

beckham still made great crosses, he just had no one on the end of his crosses to put it in the back of the net. milan will have those kind of players.

Guys if Beckham comes dont you think that it will make the midfield too packed i mean we've already got Kaka and that's more than enough we technically have four playmakers, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Seedorf, imagine beckham!!! I mean our midfield is a lot flamini, gattuso, emerson, ambrosini, pirlo, ronaldinho, seedorf, and Kaka. They are all SUPERSTARS AND WORLD CLASS PLAYERS. Remember Real madrid back in the day zidane bekahm figo ronaldo and some other players it was the "dream team" but they did not win a CL But of course AC Milan are different when we make a dream team it wins everything right? I dont mind beckahm coming but it may cause problems in the dressing room if you know wat i mean eveyone wants to be the best too many stars may cause a problem...FORZA MILAN!!! It is always the best team no matter wat happens!!!
Jack Sparrow
Nothing to worry about. The problem with the galatico era in Madrid was the management. And Beckham really is a good team man. His off-field exploits have never impacted on him as a professional, like say Adriano or *sigh* R10 (note, not R80 who is new man!).

I've got this whole theory about why the galatico era failed, after doing do spectacularly well initially under Del Bosque.

The whole thing is you cannot start everything afresh from scratch and will it to succeed. There MUST be continuity in at least a few components. Tottenham is learning that lesson the painful way.

In Madrid when they were succesful, Del Bosque was the reason. He was an excellent man manager, and handled the egos well. They got rid of him and things fell apart.

In both Manchester and Arsenal where we have seen huge roster changes, their charismatic managers remain the constant factor, which again provides stability.

Chelsea were contrary to that experiment, but the difference was the biggest ego in their was of their new manager, so everyone just fell in line.

Everyone thought my fav Spanish team Valencia was dead and gone after last season. New change in management, new coach in Emery(who had one year in top league football), and risking losing all their stars. But the new coach came in and he's done the right thing. Identified the nucleus of the team, and built a style around it.

In Milan, Beckham's walking into an established structure, not a revolving door policy club (like Madrid in the galatico time) contrary to what the media like to think. The management has been stable for over 20 frickin years. The coach has been here for 8 years. And a lot of the stars in the team, made their name with the club. In other words they are not mercenaries trying to service their inflated ego and wallets.

Beckham will not cause this team any grief.

I hate it when the media claim Milan are being galatico like. We're not. Ronaldinho was brought in as a genuine tactical need as well. Beckham might be the exception, but to say he's just being pimped by us for the money is total cr@p.
Warchant
^ agreed

i don't think we're anything like galatico. like jack said, most of our players made themselves at our club. they weren't bug names that just decided to sign.

whether or not he stays, he is still ads a quality player to our bench that can give the ability for other players to rest throughout the season.
