All Christian Abbiati talk in here.

Wow, this thread is pindrop-silent.

Anyway, 10e, would you mind taking a crack at this? smile.gif

(Mediagol)

And you're the first one to reply in it! unsure.gif

Abbiati has done very well so far but with our defensive functions in such a bad state it does not really matter who sits between the posts... sleep.gif

Just curious, how many clean sheets have we kept this season, in how many games, including friendlies/Europe. We must have a terrible record.

My guess is that she would, seeing as she's away for the time being. wink.gif We need more Italian speakers here.

None. Savvy? biggrin.gif And these include friendlies, and official matches. Take a look below, Lazio has two to our zero.

kurtsimonw
Oh dear. That's a bit worrying. unsure.gif

Thanks acid. smile.gif

Oh dear. That's a bit worrying.

What's worrying? The fact that dst wants our keepers to sit between the posts during matches, or the fact that we aren't good enough to keep a single clean sheet? tongue.gif I don't even recall when our last one was.

I remember 0-0 against Cremonese or whatever. last one I remember.. our first friendly of the year.

Did we now? blush.gif Seems like ages ago, personally. I'd have loved a 3-0 start to our Serie A season like last year.

Not if it mean't finishing this season in the same fashion!
But yes it surely would have made for a much better start! sleep.gif

Stranger things have happened. smile.gif

In terms of clean sheets, I think besides the Cremonese (anyone who remembers that has a good memory) and wasn't there an 0-0 against either Juve or Inert in one of the Trofeo tourneys?

I Am A Fascist - Abbiati

The shot stopper has been used sparingly by coach Carlo Ancelotti and he has been comfortable with his new role at the club.

Abbiati has decided to share his views on life away from the pitch and his revelations are likely to cause a stir in the football world.

"I am not ashamed of showing my political beliefs," Abbiati told Sportweek.

"I agree with some aspects of fascism like Patriotism and the values of the Catholic religion.

"Of Fascism I disagree with racial laws, allegiance to Hitler and the war but I like the capacity Fascism had to secure law and order, It guaranteed security for the people."

Although he has clearly stated his beliefs and disbeliefs regarding his political stance, Abbiati is unlikely to win any admirers in the world of football.

Eew! puke.gif Can't wait to see Miz's take on this one! Fascism, huh?
vnata001
umm..recall dida.
acid911
Well, at least the guy is upfront about what he believes in. unsure.gif Gotta give him at least that! I never was an Abbiati fan, so that's that. Still as long as he keeps on improving (unlike now, where he's struggling to keep a clean sheet).
vnata001
yea...ditto^. he merits his starting spot. i would have just rather not known tho..cuz now every time i see abbiati only one word is going to pop into my head. lol.
MizNelson
Eh, yeah. Maybe he can go ham it up with fellow baldie Paolo Di Canio somewhere. dry.gif Finding out that Abbiati is a fascist is like hearing that Mother Teresa was an alcoholic.

lol seriously. paolo di canio is exactly the name that came to my mind when i read this. its un-wanted 2 cents..i don't know why he didn't think to artfully dodge the topic rather than get himself on the front page for the wrong reason. Hire a different PR advisor Abbiati, lol, you fool.
kurtsimonw
Nout wrong with this.

Me too, its no worse than saying you are an Anarchist or a Communist. As long as there is no racism or discrimination against people
dst
Much better than being a communist! And he knows what he's talking about, he says he's a fascist but he does not agree with everything that goes with it and that's the way to go, you can't be fascist about everything just like you can't be democratic about everything and so on...

Ah well....except for the racial laws and the allegiance to Hitler he was pretty cool you know....
He was really capable of securing law and order....guaranteed security for the people.

So anyway, Abbiati currently has the highest average player ranking of all Milan players (6.4). Not my favourite player by any stretch of the imagination but he's really been doing rather well.

I'm a fascist, says AC Milan star Christian Abbiati

One of Silvio Berlusconi's players at AC Milan has declared he is a fascist. Christian Abbiati, 31, an Italian international, said: "I am not ashamed to proclaim my political beliefs. I share [the] ideals of fascism, such as the fatherland and the values of the Catholic religion."

The goalkeeper's remarks, published today in Sportweek magazine, come amid debate over Italy's fascist past and rightwing present under the leadership of AC Milan's billionaire chairman.

The minority partner in Berlusconi's parliamentary alliance, the Freedom People, is a party spun out of the country's neo-fascist movement. Some members remain unabashed apologists for the dictatorship of Benito Mussolini.

The defence minister, Ignazio La Russa, sparked a row this month after he paid tribute to Italian soldiers who fought alongside German troops in the second world war. His comments came after the mayor of Rome, Gianno Alemanno, told a magazine he did not consider fascism an "absolute evil". Berlusconi dodged a question on his own views, replying: "I think only of working to resolve the problems of the Italian people."

I don't see the problem with what he's saying. Then again, I really shouldn't say what I think, I'd get told off for giving my opinion on anything remotely religous.
MizNelson
Old news, Filippo.

His political preference is his business, but he was a bonehead for going public with it.

Me neither. But it's sad to see how obviously people in Italy are misinterpreted what fascism really is. Other then that, I don't really care. At least not till the players start act like Paolo Di Canio. Now that was a frightening persona..

Abbiati: 'The Moment To Accelerate Has Come!"

After comforting victory in the UEFA Cup, Milan is now looking to the Championship. Yesterday, their goalkeeper Abbiati spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport, and explained why he's confident: "I feel calm. I understand this team and this group. Together we can pull out from this mini-crisis in league and we will do so. We have always done so in delicate moments, and we've never left empty-handed. It time to start over. Compared to my other teammates, Dida and Kalac I certainly have less hair. (Sure you do, chap biggrin.gif) I returned here to gauge myself. As far as the the championship is concerned, we've played only two matches, it is too early to predict that we're out of the running; if anything we've just kicked into gear in this race. Now, I came back here because I wanted to believe in myself, but if I had a different way of thinking before, it was not the fault of others: It was my fault. "(Mediagol)

Yeah, I've been learning a bit of Italian, Spanish and German. rolleyes.gif Just a drop, I know, but still not good enough to speak. And probably won't be anytime soon unless I dedicate more time to it, which I can't. But yeah, I can find my way through some Italian websites too.

Any apologies for the errors, of course. Which I'm sure are present. Good thing Han can't nitpick me here!
