Our golden era is pretty much over now, but i am curious as to how much the players cost the club. Lets assume the cut off point is the 2003/2004 season, so Kaka is included but only just

GK: N/A (not sure how much they cost any help?)

DF: Nesta (26 - €30) Kaladze (23 - €16) - any others?

MF: Rui Costa (29 - €35) Gattuso (21 - €10/£8) Pirlo (22 - €15/£12) Ambrosini (18 - €?) Kaka (21 - €6) Serginho (25 - €?) Seedorf (26 - €?) - Any Others?

ATT: Shevchenko (€24) Inzaghi (€24)

So far the estimated total is €160

Age are before the tranfer money and are how old they were when they moved

Feel free to recomend more as im sure there are people missing from the list. There is no real point to this except pure curiosity on my behalf

The golden age began lets say during 2002/2003. That was the first of many trophy's. The age of the players at that time was

Nesta (26) Kaladze (25) Rui Costa (30) Gattuso (25) Pirlo (24) Ambrosini (26) Serginho (31) Seedorf (27) Sheva (26) Inzaghi (29)

Now lets compare to the squad that faced Arsenal - age and makeup of the squad is virtually the same

Kalac (35) Maldini (39) Nesta (32) Kaladze (30) Oddo (31) Gattuso (30) Pirlo (29) Ambrosini (30) Seedorf (32) Kaka (26) Inzaghi (34)

I will let you jump to the conclusions...

Forgot Seedorf, Stam Cafu and JDT were all free so i decided not to include them (so then why did i include Maldini...)

I think this is why the board should really start paying out. Our latest Golden Era cost well over £100m! In the last 10 years we have 2 Serie A titles and 2 Champions League titles, and that's what £100m gets you. So we need to spend that sort of money over the next 3/4 years if we want to get back to the top of Italy AND Europe again.

You're only counting transfer fees and not wages.

Wages would complicate it. For the moment i am just looking at face value

Plus with all the different contracts the players are on or have been keeping track of all the little changes plus signing on fees would be difficult

Yes it would be difficult. I just wanted to say that the total amount of money is greater than 160m.

edit Good thread by the way.

Yeah, the cost is much greater than the estimate i have put because there are several players missing or without prices attached to them

Also the prices do not take into account inflation, so in reality the figure is higher. I needs some help with a few more figures then i will work out the real cost of players with inflation included, which is likely to be over 200m Euros

EDIT: Im going to factor age into the equation. That too i feel is an important part

wow all our signings were actually youth LOL!

Youth is a relative concept but they were all bought before they hit their peak (and most were bought with a fair bit of experience)
