Rino hints at quit date
Tuesday 15 January, 2008

Milan midfield dynamo Gennaro Gattuso has suggested a rough timescale for his retirement form the game.

The pugnacious Azzurri star is in his ninth year with the Rossoneri and has played nearly 250 games for the San Siro outfit.

The 30-year-old ex-Rangers man isn’t planning on following in the footsteps of veteran teammate Paolo Maldini and playing until the age of 40.

“These days they wouldn’t miss me much,” he said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’ll play for another three or four years and then I’m hoping to finish my career in the Milan shirt.”

Gattuso is expected to feature in the Diavolo's Coppa Italia last 16 second leg clash against Catania on Wednesday evening as he missed out on the world champions' Serie A win over Napoli on Sunday due to suspension.

if he can play well for another 3-4 years he will have done more than expected for this club.

at least he knows you can't play forever

He has yet done a lot for Milan !!

How can he say that nobody would miss him?
He plays really well together with Pirlo and that would be a big miss...

i think he will retire at 36 and hopefully become a coach smile.gif

TBH I take all this with a pinch of salt, it wasn't long ago that he wanted to pay for Manu or Rangers rolleyes.gif . He's only coming out with this because he hasn't been playing recently, and with Ambro (hopefully) keeping fit he' have to wait a little longer to get back into the team.

Besides Dida, he's been the worst of our regular starters if you ask me. A waste of time this season!

There really is something wrong with him this season, but let's not criticize our new captain (Ofcourse, after God retires wink.gif ) He has done so much for Milan, that no one can say nothing to him. Not that someone can, even if he didn't do anything for Milan rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif Let's all hope, he'll be the Gattuso we all know this year wink.gif

You think Rino will be captain?

It should be interesting to see who gets it. I always thought Ambro would, but he doesn't always start. Not sure.. maybe Nesta?

99% Sure! I've read somewhere, that Silvio says he'll prorably be the next with the band on his hand!
If someone wants to ba e captain, he has to be better that the others! You can't shout at others, which are better that you. Rino is not our best player, but he has no problem with shouting! tongue.gif

P.S. Do you like Stilian Petrov? tongue.gif

Rino would be a good choice of captain, he seems like he could be a good motivator with all his screaming. tongue.gif

And yes, I do like Stan Petrov!

As you know, he is a Bulgarian and as you see, i am from Bulgaria and he is from a town near by, called Montana and i know him tongue.gif

He and the other Petrov, Martin, who plays for City, are my fav. national team players wink.gif

P.S. Are you jealous? tongue.gif

Rino has always been first choice. He hasn't played recently either because he was rested or suspended.

And besides I think that he will suit the 4-3-1-2 system much better then Ambro because he puts in much more work
Fillipo Simone
I think he'll end up his carierre with the Rangers..

He might, but I am hoping he stays and ends it here, like the 'real legends' do smile.gif

ohmy.gif

You know him!? That's awesome! Yes, I am jealous. tongue.gif

As for Martin Petrov, I can't stand him. He's just all flair and is completely useless of the ball, he doesn't move and inch and just stands there sulking. rolleyes.gif

Anyways, on topic.. I think Rino will finish his career at Rangers, but I think that will just be a one year thing when he's into his mid.late 30s. Rino will give us everything he can, until he feels he can't compete at the highest level.
mallamkay
am proud of the guy. we need more commitment from our other players
Minami
I hope he will become captain after Maldini has retiered

He would be much better than Ambro, because he can motivate the team
