There are reports Milan will use £100m from a sponsorship deal with Adidas to revamp the squad with Ronaldinho, Sebastien Frey, Gianluca Zambrotta and Amauri.

The Rossoneri need to rejuvenate their side as several players are nearing retirement age, most notably Paolo Maldini and Marcos Cafu.

The ‘Corriere dello Sport’ claims this weekend that there will be huge changes over the summer, ending a period of relatively careful spending by the holders of the European and World club titles.

The funding will come from a contract with Adidas and whole new marketing strategy that would bring in up to £100m to be poured back into the transfer kitty.

The first target is Ronaldinho, whose position at Barcelona is increasingly untenable after disagreements with the club, teammates and coaching staff.

The Brazilian would cost around £40m and encourage more stars to join the San Siro giants, including his Barca colleague Zambrotta at £7m.

World Cup winning full-back Zambrotta had already been heavily linked with the Rossoneri for the past two seasons.

A new goalkeeper is needed to replace the under-fire Nelson Dida and the prime candidate is Fiorentina’s Frenchman Frey.

Parma midfielder Andrea Dossena and French international Willy Sagnol could arrive for a combined £6m and a bid for Catania defender Vargas – who is thought to be closer to Roma – is on the cards.

Midfielders are in short supply as Yoann Gourcuff and Emerson have so far failed to make an impact.

Lyon’s Swede Kim Kallstrom is available for £7m and Dynamo Zagreb talent Modric is another alternative for the same price.

In attack Milan are in the race with Juventus, Inter and Roma for Palermo starlet Amauri

I am pretty confident this summer will be Milan's raid on the transfer market.

According to these reports everysummer we're about to get a £100m face lift but they never happen. If they were true we would have 3 different squads by now with all the transfers we made.

The only one I'm optimistic about is Zambrotta, especially after Silvio's words, I'm 95% sure that he will be a Milan player by next season

i've read somewhere that in this facelift Luka Modric could be included, it would be great...

Benzema,Modric,Zambrotta,Lucio + GK and we are good...

i don't know

2 years ago there were a lot of great players who were comfortable at the club

last year we were hit by that ridiculous scandal

this year, there are a lot of good players that are no longer comfortable. not saying we're going to get a huge facelift, but i believe we'll get a few players this summer

^^^ I agree and should think so too! dry.gif

We are one of the richest clubs in the world. If Bert wasn't connected to the mob and the underground world we would probably have some new talent in there. Pato was a great acquisition.

The biggest player that we talked about all the time was Torres. Look at that guy at Liverpool. He's carrying that team in the Prem. We have missed so many great opportunities. The problem is that once they go to a top club you will never get them until their in the 30's because they become so expensive. And the medium clubs want to cash out. Milan are misers with the cash. We're still trying to justfiy the Gilardino deal. They guy is a complete waste up there. A top forward like Torres or anybody would have scored several goals against Catania in that game.

We don't have to spend that ammount of money to become competitive again. We just need to be smart about who we buy and let go players who have gotten too old to be of use to the team.

Oh and most importantly a reliable goalkeeper

Yep, right,..

There are very few players who we need to let go, some who are not at their best have done too much for us to be just fired like that (Cafu/Sergio). Sometimes I think Yoann should be loaned off or something...preferably to Fiorentina, so he learns a few things.

A GK?? Well...I'd rather we improve our defence than spend a fortune on one goalkeeper.

We need a fullback. Zambrotta would be ideal. And I guess the new CB as well. Ramos seems out of the question. And a Spanish defender is just puke.gif for my puritan tastes.

I'm really stuck here. I think the world stopped producing centre backs of top quality or something. Terry is just a smarter version of Kaladze, and he is not available of course. tongue.gif

Is Nesta like the last of his breed. ohmy.gif

I really think we might have to look at the Primavera and hope that Baresi's tutelage has done well for them.

Barzagli and Bonera are for me at par, if Bonera played as much as Barzagli, we'd all want him. biggrin.gif

For being competitive...Milan need:

DEFENCE:
1 FB, 1 World Class CB(Break the freaking bank!!)

MID:
Priority: 1 Pirlo type MF(oh wait...he's the only one of his kind...like Makalele initially biggrin.gif)
1 Water carrier MF ( this is probably why the management was reported as looking at Emre) who can get the ball and can take it to Kaka/Clarence.

ATTACK:

1 SS....someone who will be quiet and is content to sit on the bench, but is yet no slouch. biggrin.gif Preferably someone at the fag end of his career. Just in case.

I think I've asked this before...but can Quaresma play as SS??

GK: I like Dida...but if his injury is preventing him from playing much...then I'd rather we reduce our dependency on him. I would like someone young..to be No.2 for a while. Munich are really lucky with the Kahn, Adler thing. We should try something like that. Scour the Italian countryside...there must be somebody.

@Abbi .. I am pretty sure Milan will bring in a World Class CB, especially given that Paolo will retire .. It is inevitable. Moreover, Zambrotta could be considered a Milan player by June and most likely another full back.

In Midfield, they might bring in someone, but I doubt there would be much change to the current set-up (i.e. Ambro, Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka', Seedorf).

For the attack, I doubt someone will come. But I strongly believe that if Gilardino isn't consistent or if Ronaldo doesn't stay fit. There will be a purchase in the summer.

As for the Gkeeping slot. Have u ever played Russian Roulette biggrin.gif

I actually agree with R7 here. With Paolo leaving, we really need a top CB to replace him, and it does look likely that Zambro will be here come the summer. I think our midfield is fine, especially if we continue to play with 2 strikers, then we'll have Ambro/Gourcuff/Emerson on the bench, and that's better than Brocchi!

I'm not certain about a new striker yet. Pipppo is clearly more of a CL player, but if R9 stays fit and Gila gets more games under his belt, that could be enough to go with Pato.
dst
I agree with Jack. We need a quality bench player for the midfield area! We don't have the subs to replace Pirlo, Kaka and Seedorf efficiently... if one of them is not available we are in big trouble.

And this particular bench-midfielder, should, at least IMO, be a experienced one. We have Yohann as a youngster allready. What we need now is someone like Rui, someone who's in Milan-age...
Fillipo Simone
But our striker-department has to many big IF's IMO. IF Ronaldo stays fit, IF Pippo stays on his feet for another year, IF Gila finds his lost touch and IF Pato maintains his mature app's. Every single striker we have has one or more if's..and that's very bad.

In my view we should get Amauri. He wouldn't complain much, he is a quality player and we will certainly need him! We can't carry the problems we have in attack now to the next season...

Drogba first, then everybody else,..

amauri would complain a lot i think...now that we have loaned him out, oliveira wouldn complain, he'd be happy just to be in the first 18...and he's a great sub, why go buying another player when we have one...we must save that money for a really great defender and gk...in midfield Modriccould be a great addition(i'm definite he would be) and what's interesting at most, he can play in pirlo's, seedorf's or kaka's position (allaround)...

Drogba as a sub?? Or Ronaldo? It's just impossible...
