Mourinho Set For Milan Despite Barça Enquiry

José Mourinho's future is the subject of fierce debate in Spain as the Catalan papers have him lined up for AC Milan, while in Madrid (?) they claim he could replace Frank Rijkaard at Camp Nou.

The Portuguese coach has stated his intention to take over at one of Europe's top clubs and Italy has looked set to be his preferred destination until now.

AS believe that Barça president Joan Laporta has enquired about his future during a meeting with the former Chelsea boss' agent, Jorge Mendes.

While Laporta met Mendes to discuss Deco, Mourinho's name was said to have cropped up and the pair talked about what his plans were and his availability.

Rijkaard is under pressure to restore Barcelona's fortunes and while the gap between them and Real Madrid remains seven points, speculation over his position will continue.

Even AS do concede that Mourinho could well replace Carlo Ancelotti at AC Milan and suggest that the trainer has even signed a pre-contract with the Rossoneri.

With the thought of Mourinho taking over at Barça causing angst among the Blaugrana dailies, Sport are keen to state that he is definitely heading for the San Siro.

Despite Bayern Munich's supposed interest, Milan are working hard behind-the-scenes to secure the services of the coach that they believe will revitalise the club.

Silbio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani are concerned by Inter's dominance of the league and believe that Mourinho, along with a host of new players, will be able to deliver them the title.

Sport add that is an open secret that a deal is set to be done to ward off interest from any other suitors and ensure that Mourinho becomes the new Milan coach.

I'm not sure about this one,...

I'm going to call bullshit on the article until they come up with actual proof for the claims that Milan are after Mourinho. The articles are coming from the Spanish and French press, not the Italian press and allegations like 'Milan are working behind the scenes'...have not been shown to have a basis in fact.

This is fantacalcio.

Well the only thing that sounds true is Milan working behind the scenes. We've always been very mafioso in that aspect.

But honestly...it would take a catastrophe of epic proportions in Euro 08 for Carlo to leave. The board can't fire him unless he fails to make the CL spot this year. And Lippi has said he'd like to coach a team which bloods youngsters...like Barca or Fiorentina. Plus he coached Inter. So I guess that rules out Lippi.

Madrid are secure in their coach. And Benitez is still walking the tight rope. As I see it, Milan and Barca are drawn into it, coz they're the only two clubs with the glamour matching Mourinho's. It makes for interesting reading and 'What-If' discussions.

There we go ... That's all that will ever come of it, seeing as Milan will only bring in someone from within the clubs structure. Someone who understands the Milan philosophy

Ever since Sylvie Van Der Vaart is in..everyone wants to get in the fish tank.

Be gone misha...get a mud pack in the dead sea coast or something. Fish tank is my playground.

as much as i would like to see jose here...i definitely wouldn't mind seeing jose go to barca and Rijkaard come back to milan.

I would definitely like to see Riijkaard come back to Milan. However, with Ronnie in the lineup, I think the odds of a reunion are very slim.

Definitely stay away from Gullit - apparently Galaxy training sessions were an absolute joke.
