I think he is a great talent. But I believe he's not confident of his potential yet... and Milan is not helping him work on that!
Rossoneri7
Definitely Seedorf's boyfriend ... rolleyes.gif

He needs time dst .. Just give him sometime, I have no doubt in my mind that he will excel at Milan.

He is not getting a chance ?? Well, we have just played 5 games in the league. And in those he has played one whole game. He will get his chance, I hope the next time he is on the pitch we will see a more confident Yoann cool.gif
dst
Well, I would be devastated if Brocchi was picked ahead of me! rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif
Tennie
You really are fascinated with Seedorf, aren't you dst?smile.gif

I think Gourcuff is very talented. The only thing I can really say against him is that he's still immature in a lot of ways. And he dives. Remember he got carded during Milan's home fixture v. Palermo last year. And the foul in the box during the Udinese game last May was...theatrical.
Jack Sparrow
If Porty were here...he'd say something like...he's French it goes with the territory.
Fillipo Simone
OOOps,...I voted for nothing special. Well, right now he is nothing special. I just cannot say that he is a supertalent based on what I saw till today (this is more my fault then Yohann's). He is nothing special cause of the small chances he gets, but also cause of his character. It seems to me he has confidence trouble. But I'm sure he'll get over that,...

Anyway,..I sometimes think Milan is a bit too much traditionlist. I know, I'm the first one who allways mentions tradition, but,..we are old fashioned, aren't we? Do world at Lyon, Barca, Real, etc. is right now full of trendy hyped teen-players. But what do we have? We have an old-fashioned Yohann Gourcuff who's nothing like Messi to make a double in his debut. He rather plays it slow,...a to-be-Zidane,..

Forza Gourcuff (that sound a bit weir, no? Avant Gourcuff is more,..)!

Oh and yes, the Duck will change things a bit,.. wink.gif
KillerMax
You are right on the money Fillipo. Gourcuff's problem is his confidence. He seems to be overtaken ever since he joined us. But I disagree that he is not special. He is very. If you remember how he played last year, he was an absolute joy to watch. He out-shined other players. He was somewhat a breath of fresh air. But then Ancelotti benched him again and that really got to him. He has not featured regularly for us since then and his confidence is on a descending slope. He needs to believe in himself first and foremost if he wants to succeed. He has a lot to prove yet. Forza Gourcuff! cool.gif

Yoann definitely is a true talent as we all have saw it on the pitch. BUT he is not confidence (hopefully 'yet') and he makes this lack of confidence quite visible in his reactions when he doesn't play the ball well. and Carlo never helped him at all to be honest, by playing him not next to Kaka, but as a replacement for Kaka (Siena game), that's not fair to put such pressure on him. he MUST play along with Kaka, Pirlo, Gattuso and [if possible] Seedorf.

I don't know whether he will be a success at Milan or not, but he IS talented.
armiss
He is french version of Kaka smile.gif

Really Great , But he belongs to the future

Gourcuff had a fantastic start at Milan. He's clearly very talented.

Thing is - and I may be slated for saying this - he's displayed a tendency I do NOT like at all. Namely, he dives. Did it today (without being carded), did it last year against Palermo (DID get carded) and did it last year against Udinese to get the penalty that Billy took in his last game.

He seemed nervous and indecisive at times during today's game. I'm hoping that will get worked out as his playing time increases. Carlo needs to be brave and start him in a few more league matches, as it just seems wrong that he basically let Emerson waltz into the starting lineup only a few weeks after his arrival.

If not Serie A, Gourcuff should definitely start some Coppa matches, but with the way we're going, we'll be breaking out our regulars for that as well.

One more thing. Yesterday he scored an own-goal. Okay, sh@t happens and it was more Dida's then his fault. But his body language and his gesticulation at that moment was just annoying. I was really mad - his face expression said it all, he wasn't ashamed for a bit and he also wasn't sad. Maybe it's just a small detail but,.. sad.gif

Come on man... it's not like it was some Matrix-style own goal... the ball was going in anyway and he did his best to get it out... what did you expect from him afterwards, to get down and start crying?

I don't know what I expected, but I did not get it,...As I said it is a detail of minor importance, but still...

Gourcuff Accepts Responsibility For Milan Defeat

Milan youngster Yoann Gourcuff has taken the blame for Celtic’s winner last night but claimed that the Rossoneri were made to pay for missing numerous chances.

Scott McDonald scored in the 90th minute to give Celtic a famous 2-1 victory over the European Champions. Gary Caldwell’s shot from the edge of the penalty area was fumbled back into play by Dida and while the rest of the Milan defence pushed up, Gourcuff played McDonald onside and the striker slotted home the rebound.

“The second goal was my fault,” the French starlet admitted. “We shouldn’t have allowed them to catch us like that after they had played so defensively.

“We knew this would be a tough game and once they scored it made things harder still. But the pitch helped them, while we missed so many chances.”

Gourcuff is rated as one of the most promising French youngsters currently in circulation, however he has received very few chances to shine at Milan since joining in 2006 from Rennes.

The 21-year-old scored on his Champions League debut last season in the match against AEK Athens and many have labelled him as the “new Youri Djorkaeff”, after the ex-Inter and France star.

Poor boy, it's so cruel to let him take the blame. The second one was his fault? Hmhm,...

I don't care if has talent or not... at least the boy has just shown he has balls... unlike some others!!

I second that.

In all fairness, Yoann hasn't played much this season and then get's thrown in at the deep end! Why wasn't he playing on sunday...surely playing Catania at home would be an easier game for him than Celtic away in the pi55ing rain rolleyes.gif

dst is right...my respect for the kid(huh.gif he's my age!! laugh.gif) just went up in leaps and bounds. This still doesn't take away from Dida's erm dive. And I'm worried Carlo might take this out on Yoann, bench him even further, which is not good.

I played this over in my head with an English accent and it sounded so cool. Much more elegant than the f-word. Nice one, I_Ross.

The second goal was his fault, but it's good that he's a man and accepts responsibility. Now hopefully he and the rest of Milan can improve their play and show what they can do.
Tennie
As seen above, I don't like his diving.

But I do admire his nerve and his courage for coming out with that statement. Kudos to Yoann.

Waste of time. We should sell him or loan him if possible. We are milan not arsenal, raising young talent isn't our job. We need to buy players who are in their prime or 30+

In this team, at its current state, even Kaka is a waste of time. Gourcuff can only be analyzed when he has been given enough chances. Age is irrelevant.

As I said before, to me, age is irrelevant. It's about what a player can offer, and Gourcuff has a lot to offer. Same for the duck.

What about Messi? Do you think he is right now in his prime time? I do,...I don't belive Messi will be anything better in 5 years from now,..
august_milan
i think gourcuff is very talanted and is a wonder to watch on the ball, he is more of an attacking option for milan to use but carlo wants him to become better defensively so he doesnt make careless mistakes n cause goals like against celtic.

Which i think is understandable becuase he is still young and the french league is very diffrent then the italian leauge but when milan need to score and are pressing why is carlo subbing on brocci instead of gourcuff???

i dont think brocci and gattuso should ever be on the field together other than training, 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch will never solve our goal draught. i think gourcuff should start subbin off abmro or serdoff more in games where we are contolling a game and are up a few goals or need to score and either serdoff or ambro is playin poorly. sometimes carlo makes subs that are not necessary and find myself questioning him more and more as the seasons go by.
