Negotiations over a new contract with Juventus are about to begin and it seems like he won't accept the pay-cut they want to give him!

If he doesn't sign a new contract with them and he wants out then would you take him?

I know I would... I don't like him much myself! I do have respect for him though even if he's only a mere shadow of his good and shining former self but I knew it would hurt many people to see him in the Rossoneri colors so I would take him!

He is a champion after all and I do like champions!

I think he'd do a Beckham or a Batistuta though if he didn't extend his contract with Giuve...
Tennie
dst, did you add the 'yes cause he's pretty' button for me?smile.gif

I'd take him, but....Del Piero playing for anyone but Juve is like Paolo playing for anyone but Milan. I just don't see it happening. If it did, relations between Milan and the Zebras would be veryvery bad.

Yup! tongue.gif

I don't see why relations would be bad... it's not like we'd steal him from them, it'd be their decision to sell him to us or not...

They aren't so good right now either.

I'd take him, but I don't want him. That make sense? I don't want Galliani to come out and say: "The Ronaldo-Del Piero pair will give fans a lot of satisfaction" Like he did when we got Vieri. Like, duh... Maybe 5 years ago.... rolleyes.gif What I'm trying to say, is that I don't want Del Piero to become our "We don't need reinforcements" flag.
misha
It won't ever happen and I don't want hin here. For them, it's like if Costacurta or other milanista would have moved there.
Bluesummers
It will never ever ever ever happen. d.p is retiring there. Its like saying would paolo move to juve cause he isn't getting paid enough.

I'd make him parade around the stadium during our home games with a 'Juve suck' shirt on.

I think everyone team on earth would want to sign him given the chance, he's still that good in my opinion.
Tennie
You do know, Kurt, that one of the favorite chants of the Curva at the San Siro is 'Juve Juve Vafancullo'. smile.gif Del Piero with /that/ on a t-shirt would be appropriate.

Not that it'd ever happen.
Rossoneri7
I would be ecstatic if he came !!!

He is an experienced player who is a great example to follow!

Except in the zebra shirt he looks .. Well, u know schifo rolleyes.gif

I wouldn't want him even for free. Why would you want an aging , in decline symbol of the other team. His best days are long gone.

Just to stick it to Juve? It's not worth it.
Tennie
It'd almost be worth it if Del Piero were a Nerazurri instead of a Zebra. Just for the 'vafancullo' factor. smile.gif

But I have a level of admiration and respect for the Zebras - granted, it's gone down a lot since Gianni Agnelli died - that I've never had for the Merda.

As Jake would say 'Merda Schifo'. smile.gif

I don't see it like that. You look at this as Milan fan. I would lost any respect for him if he had done that. If a player, who's the face of his club and the undisputable idol, leaves to the rivals towards the end of his carrer (because of some money issue or some othe reason), I won't fell honored just because he choose Milan.
whoarethepatriots
Del Piero would not join Milan, if he ever did leave, it would be for a foreign team or maybe his hometown club (whoever they are)

He knows that leaving Juve for a Serie A rival would hurt alot of fans, and he has too much love for Juve to do that

He joined Juve from Padova (I think) but I'm not sure they' his hometown club, just the team that gave him his break.
Tennie
Hrm.

Alessio Secco, the Fester equivalent at Juve, told Sky Italia that the Zebras are working to reach agreement with Del Piero on a new contract, but that it's possible it might not happen. They're willing to offer a renewal to 2010 (which is what Del Piero wants) but they want to cut his wages by 30% (which is why Del Piero is not happy).
Rossoneri7
He should just sign the contract with them ... He would be an eternal symbol of Juve if he does ..

But then again .. It is his career and his choice at teh end of the day.

Ancelotti: Del Piero Could Sign For Us

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, perhaps mischievously, failed to rule out the prospect of Juventus star Alessandro del Piero switching to the rossoneri when his contract expires at the end of the season...

Carlo Ancelotti, losing patience with the press, refused to rule out the prospect of signing Alessandro Del Piero.

"There's no reason why he couldn't come on a free transfer once his contract runs out," he said of the Juventus star.

'Alex' is currently locked in negotiations with the Old Lady hierarchy over the prospect of a contract extension, his current deal ending next June.

With Ancelotti under increasing pressure to solve his team's goalscoring woes, perhaps Del Piero would fit the bill. On the other hand, perhaps he wouldn't.

After all, such speculation is hardly new, but it seems more likely that 'Alex' will iron out the pay dispute that's currently underway at the Turin side.

For now, though, Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco remains unconvinced that a deal will be thrashed out, while Alex himself has remained silent on the issue.

His brother and agent, Stefano, is confident that his client will remain in the famous bianconeri colours heading into the new season and beyond.

Carlo always wanted Alex .. As he wanted Emerson too. He got the latter, why not Alex now.

Though I personally would rather he finished his career at Juve for sentimental reasons (for the Juve tifosi obviously..) ... But I wouldn't say no if the occasion actually does arise king.gif
Bluesummers
Carlo is getting delusional. I think the stress of not winning is getting the best of him.
KillerMax
Del Piero is passed his prime. We have a bunch of those players already. So, as much as I have always liked him and wanted Milan to sign him, I'm gonna have to pass now.
agenth
What do you guys see in him anyway?
He wouldnt change a thing here except cost money

He's pretty, Hanna! smile.gif

(But he IS past his prime and is a symbol of Juve. I'd prefer he stay there).

It would be a bad deal I think,...I don't wanna see Bonera or Simic out, were can we find such players? They are quality, have no problem with sitting on the bench for most of the time if you give them a few chances (please Carlo, please let Dario in for Kaladze! That would be another turning point,.. wink.gif ) and have, especially Simic, experience,..
whoarethepatriots
No, firstly becuase he is past his peak and secondly it would be a bitter pill for the Juve fans to swallow, he was a Juve player and should remain one

Nesta Calls Del Piero To Milan

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has declared that he would be “extremely happy” if Alessandro Del Piero were to join him at San Siro.

Del Piero is currently having serious problems in renewing his contract in Turin and this has led to speculation over the past few days that Milan may launch a bid for the striker.

“If we could sign Del Piero I would be extremely happy,” stated Nesta. “He is a player who does not talk much, but when he does he always says the right things.”

Milan are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements. The European Champions are going through a dismal run of form, which has seen them go five Serie A games without a win.

The main problem is up-front where they have scored just five goals in their last five league games, with two of these being penalties. No Milan striker has scored in Serie A this term and Filippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino are currently the only two fit and available senior forwards on Milan’s books.

Sources are suggesting that Milan may look to solve their problems by moving for Del Piero, maybe as early as January. Juventus are not in Europe, which would mean the Golden Boy would be available to play in the Champions League.

However the critics are unlikely to be impressed at the thought of Milan bringing in yet another ageing player to an already old squad. Del Piero turns 33 in November and can hardly be seen as a long-term option for the Rossoneri.
Jack Sparrow
Didn't we buy Fachetti too once? And that didn't help a lot. Besides Nesta, I don't think we've gotten lucky with other club icons.

Besides with our kinda luck...I bet Del Piero will be injured two matches into his Milan stay.
Zed.D
Del Piero?!!!? are you kidding me?! I don't want a 33yo finished Juve God here! I don't want another Vieri, Amuroso, etc. here. sign Drogba before Madrid do it, you dumb Galliani!
dst
Drogba?? Why... there were 3 Spanish-speaking players who are better and younger than him available last summer. Liverpool got the least good one, United got the uglier one while the 3rd and best one is still "available"!

We should go for Villa at last costs this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sudden epiphany huh?? It's just that I hadn't heard you mention Villa before, and you're not too keen on Spanish players. So this is a bit of a surprise.

Well I don't know how good a chance we have of landing him. We can't pay him anything great, because of the tax laws. I'm sure Valencia are not gonna let him go easy, or that he will come for peanuts.

In fact I even think Huntelaar will come cheaper than Villa.

But thinking of Villa, what can Milan offer him that Valencia can't? I'm not 100% certain about money. And I don't know whether the heritage of an Italian club is gonna put him in a hurry to pack his bags. Valencia have CL, and are struggling in the league just like us.

Really tough, unless he would want the opportunity to play with Kaka and Pirlo and Ronaldo.

But if he comes Gila goes, plain and simple. Maybe even an exchange+cash.

Let's not forget he's a huge favourite at the Mestalla. While he's just got a reputation for being a 'good' forward in Italy. Would he want to start from square one? Looks to me like he's got little to gain and a lot to lose.
dst
Tax laws my _ss... you don't really believe that's what's holding us back from signing a decent player, do you?

Of course Milan can offer him more than Valencia... at least the Milan that I'm used to. It's not a matter of how good the team is now (at the moment Valencia is a better team IN MY VIEW) it's a matter of good the team can get and this is where Valencia have a limit at! A Milan that would sign Villa would also sign a couple or more of other great players... and then a new era begins! cool.gif ... Won't happen! sad.gif

He's not the same type of forward that Gila is so why do you seem the latter shipped out?

As for what he's got to win... true champions always want to be tested at the higher levels and always be able to fight for the big goals and if Villa is one, I certainly believe he is, he will not hesitate over such a move!

Fachetti? No way, he was an Interista all the time,..played about 20 seasons for them.

5 forwards...so unless Ronaldo or Pippo are injured, we have a problem, since nobody likes being benched. Unless ur saying Gila is playing crap enough to relegated to the bench forever.

I still don't know whether he would be better than Huntelaar. They're both the finishing type of strikers, with a good shot, if it is on their strong foot. A bit like Ronaldo.

I know for a fact that Huntelaar would be cheaper(at least by 5 mill...if we need to invoke the release clause fuhgeddaboudit), possibly hungrier(?) , maybe lacking in experience, but just the thought that Huntelaar and Pato would be ready to take R99's and Pippo's place sounds really good.

This is if...if...Gila does nothing this season, I don't really mind that he doesn't score, but me must contribute...like Berbatov does, at least pose some kind of threat to the defence.

While Huntelaar+Pato seem exciting, I'd always regret not having an Italian forward.

Right so back to topic...Del Piero...not likely, and not ethical. Thank you Juve, please renew. He's done enough for you to stop being stingy with that 30% fee. It's just 3 years more at the most.
