AC Milan chief Galliani rules out striker signing
tribalfooball.com - September 25, 2007

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is adamant they won't buy a new striker.

"It is not written that the strikers must always be the ones who score," said Galliani. "We wanted to have three forwards on hand, but now Ronaldo is injured and we knew that (Alexandre) Pato would be only available to us in January.

"However, we will not buy any new forward because we already have the new purchase who is Pato."

There's a difference between having 3 strikers and having an unproven kid, a guy that's off-form, one that's spent his career in the injury room and an old man. rolleyes.gif

Exactly! But it is Galliani talking... he'd never say that we indeed ARE after a player (for many reasons) and this time... anything he'd say would sound stupid cause there's no doubt that we desperately need one!

Both of these guys live in BS central but which one is biggest BSer? you guys tell me...
The sad thing is it's the fans that have to suffer with fluff that he pumps out. it's not like not revealing ur after a certain player is going to change much because if you do admit it's not going to change much. these high profile clubs depend on more reliable sources for their information.

Had Gila been on form and scoring, then there would have been no need for another striker. And if Ronaldo was fit and available then we definitely won't need another striker.

Out of the two, Ronaldo is much more dependable than Gila ... So, yeah Milan should have pressed to bring another one (other than Pato..), but I guess the Milan management wanted to give Gila a chance ... Remember in the summer when his future was in question, Milan had faith in him. But I guess by January Milan will already bring in someone else, IF Gila keeps it up rolleyes.gif

We knew Gila is not the most dependable scorer and we knew Ronaldo is as fragile as glass... it was a risk we shouldn't have taken in the first place!

99% of this forum would agree with u right there, and I am not part of the 1% tongue.gif

But They wanted to give Gila a chance for 1st team football, as they did Ronaldo. Then we have Abomayoungding-dong .. So in that sense I guess they didn't want to cause a problem seeing as Pato would also require 1st team football too in January on-wards ... In the summer Milan were gonna do something, but because of those reasons the management run the risk.

Still I am of the opinion of bringing someone else in and at the same time I do agree with what the board are trying t do (even though he is not worth it)

The only guy who's worth the faith the management is showing Gila is none other than GORCUFF!!! come on guys, he is not getting regular play yet we all know he is good.

The management had promised to give him more time but I aint seeing it happening!!! should we open a thread for this?

There is a Gourcuff thread ... But I think him not playing is down to Carlo, not the management, plus it is still the start of the league .. i.e. today will be Milan's 5th match of the league, we still have like 33 games to go, plus CL, CWC, Coppa .. I mean he has so many games to play in smile.gif

I don't think it is a problem.

Personally, i think gourcuff might have a problem adapting to the team, which is why carlo is hesitant to use him in matches right now. I'm 100% certain he will play at least 15+ this season.

I don't like the way people write off Carlo, as if he doesn't know what he is doing. He is a world class coach who has won a lot.

During a match, he would have to take several factors into consideration. I mean Gourcuff is a undeniable talent. He has the quality and all, but Carlo knows when to bring him on. Like Kaka' in his early days ... I used to get pissed at him subbing Rui for him !!! In the end and after all the torture that he had put me through, I finally understand coaches.

They work with what they have and read the game in a way we can not comprehend. They take into consideration the opponent and play against their tactics, thus there is a reason for not playing Gourcuff.

He will get his chance, it's not like a childs game ... this is the real thing, Gourcuff is at the #1 club in the world and he knows it! He knows that Kaka' and Seedorf are world class players and he has to work hard to get to their level. I am 100% he is in agreement with the coach. And any talk of Gourcuff leaving because he hasn't gotten much of a chance yet is immature IMO.
