Ambrosini to pen Milan deal
Thursday 10 May, 2007

Massimo Ambrosini will sign a new contract with Milan at the end of this month, his agent has revealed.

The midfielder has been associated with a switch to Fiorentina in recent times even if Moreno Roggi doesn’t expect a summer move for his client.

“Ambrosini will extend his agreement with the Rossoneri after the Champions League Final,” he noted on Thursday.

“I can’t see anything else but that happening. The only thing that could change that is if the two parties suddenly moved apart, but that seems unlikely.

“As a result, I don’t think that Fiorentina are in a position to sign him, also because they have never asked me for the player either.”

Ambrosini’s future at the San Siro was again looking in doubt earlier this term after his failure to break into the first team.

Nevertheless, he has recently proved useful in both Serie A and the Champions League for boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The 1977-born international joined Milan in 1995 from Cesena and has been there ever since apart from a loan spell at Vicenza in 1997-98.

Thats great news, he provides the grit and resilience defensively while being a major threat from set pieces in the air.

I have to admit at times I got frustrated with him and his continual injury cloud, sh*t by me mad.gif for ever doubting he'd get back from it. Now "touch wood" finally in full flight he's proven how important he can be, especially in the current structure in which him and gattuso close down the space and win numerous balls back.

FORZA AMBRO!
