Ferguson drinks to Milan
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is sure Milan will defeat Liverpool in the Champions League Final. “I plan to drink to their success,†he said.
The Rossoneri reached the Athens Final after defeating the Red Devils in the semi-final and the tactician is ready to gamble on the Italian outfit’s victory.
“I would bet for sure that Milan will win the Champions League, I’m absolutely certain of it,†said Ferguson in an interview to The Sun.
“Their second-leg victory over us was stupendous, fantastic and extraordinary,†he added after his side earned their 16th League title on Sunday.
“I told [Milan boss] Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the semi-final that there is no way he can now not win the tournament.
“Carlo gave me a magnificent bottle of wine, but I told him there is no point in giving such a wonderful gift if he fails in the Final.
“In fact, I told him I would only drink his wine once I see him lifting the Champions Cup.â€
Manchester United were unable to take advantage of their 3-2 win at Old Trafford in the first leg with Milan and were thumped 3-0 in the return match, thanks to goals from Kaka, Clarence Seedorf and Alberto Gilardino.
“Last week, Milan were fresher and better prepared tactically and physically,†added Ferguson.
“I am still trying to analyse and understand the factors involved. But the truth is we faced one of the best performances in the entire history of the San Siro outfit.â€

Definitely!
And to be honest I have developed some for Man United as well. I have always disliked them, but they won me over a bit with the attacking football they tried to play in the San Siro when a goalless draw would have been enough. Tactically it was probably a bit naive of SAF, but at least they stayed true to attacking principles (not that Man United are ALWAYS attacking).
Benitez is more pragmatic than that so don't expect the same from Liverpool on the 23rd!

Not that he said those words, but I have always considered him a top-class person and manager.
BTW, not everybody has been awarded with the tag SIR

He's always said that he admires Milan, mostly for our football and history.
But this is a class A jinx.

I hope that he will be able to drink that wine

He just hates Liverpool and don't want them to win 2 cups in 3 years while he won just 1 in 16 years. Didn't he predicted befer semi finals that United gonna win the cup
