All white on the night
Friday 4 May, 2007

Milan have opted to wear their white away shirts in the Champions League Final against Liverpool later this month.

The Italian team were drawn by UEFA as the home side which gave them the right to wear their famous black and red shirts.

However, Milan have decided to go for their second strip and allow Liverpool to dress in their red jerseys – just like in Istanbul two years ago.

Milan did consider their white strip a lucky omen priot to their penalty shoot-out loss to the Premiership side in the 2005 finale.

Before then the San Siro giants had won four European Cups in white against Benfica in 1963 and 1990, versus Steaua Bucharest in 1989 and Juventus in 2003.

That's a gutsy call to wear the all white strip again after what happened two years ago!

I remember how Italy chose to wear the all white away strip when they were designated the home team for the Euro 2000 final against France, because they wore all blue against France in 1998 when they lost on penalties and they considered that to be unlucky.

I actually like this decision by Milan. I wonder how much of it has to do with the club confronting the demons of 2005? It's almost making the statement that Milan acknowledges what happened two years ago but is going to put that right.

Exactly, our souls need to be purified!!

If we had chosen the rossoneri colors it would be a sign of fear and reluctance!

Forza Ragazzi!! smile.gif

Agreed - white was the right choice. Let's finish the job this time...

We always wear white in the final so we shouldnt change now, even if we did lose 2 yrs ago.... after all its just a shirt.
We have the best player in the world, and gret player supporting him, so i think that will be enough to get over the line this time.

The same with me...

I thought after the Liverpool final, this silly "all white tradition" has come to an end...

They were talking about it before the Man United game, making the point more to move the final to another country.

I know...but I ment that after we were beaten for the first time in a final wearing all white, this superstition would end... wink.gif
