With the new wave of Calciopoli investigations, Milan vice-President Adriano Galliani announced the club was seeking to legally be awarded the 2005 Scudetto.
The title was stripped from Juventus and left unassigned after the trial that saw the Turin giants demoted in the summer.
However, the latest inquiry has named the 0-0 draw between Juve and Milan at the Stadio Delle Alpi – officiated by referee Paolo Bertini – as one of the games where there were suspicions of wrongdoing.
“I remember that match well. Very well,†said Galliani. “From the summer our fans understood what had really happened. We didn’t need this confirmation.â€
That result effectively ended the Rossoneri’s Scudetto hopes and if the Naples investigation finds Juve responsible of influencing it, we could see another drawn-out court battle.
“The 2004-05 Scudetto? Our lawyers are working on it. I don’t know if it is a Utopia to hope for the title, but it does seem a very complicated affair.â€
The Delle Alpi encounter took place on December 18, 2004 and was dominated by Milan, who were unable to score as Andriy Shevchenko hit the woodwork.
There was also a strong early penalty shout for Jonathan Zebina hauling back Hernan Crespo from getting on the end of a Shevchenko assist and another complaint for Zebina’s tackle on Kakha Kaladze in the area.
Milan were also furious on 66 minutes when Kaka dispossessed Lilian Thuram and was running at the Juve defence with three against two, but the referee stopped play for a free kick rather than giving the advantage.
You can read the original match report here.
In other matters, Galliani is finding some difficulty in preparing for the Champions League semi-final at Old Trafford on April 23.
“We haven’t found a hotel in Manchester yet, but we’ll figure something out. I never book ahead, unlike Bayern Munich who had to cancel their trip.â€

Do we need to do this? I think we should do this after we've come to a decision about Buffon...so we don't piss off Juve anymore.

We dont need it, well we do, but we would be no better than inter by celebrating a scudetto we didnt win on the pitch

Who cares about that?
In 50 years no one will give a damn and say "OH.. That was 'faxed'!!!"
Let's be honest. We've 17. Inter will make 15 this season and they've a solid team who can possibly win the next 2-3 scudettos if we continue this kind of management (Galliani style) and Juventus will need at least 2 seasons to be top-level again.
And I don't wanna look to the scudetto table... being Milan in 3rd place. Got it?

Why the f@ck not? It was 2 years ago , nobody will celebrate it and it just would be written in the books as number 18. Besides , we deserve it.

Right!
We should get the 18th and stick it to Moratti's face for stealing the last one!

If we openly claim we want the '05 trophy, then we'll look like idiots for deriding Inter about winning a paper Scudetto. Best to just leave it vacant.

eventhough I always hated the way Inter won the last scudetto,
I still would like to win to 2005 one.

It's not the same. Inter were handed a title for which they had never really entered the race to win! We were always there in both occasions...
If Inter were robbed of a title that's the '01/'02 one! Neither of the past two...

Hmm well in all fairness a dash should have been put in the books for both the 04/05 and 05/06 scudetto titles. Personally I'm not the biggest fan for receiving the cardboard title, since we don't get a chance to celebrate it. All that happens is the players and the records will be credited with another scudetto. And anyway paolo already has like 7, 'legit' ones, kids running out of space.

The only reason I think we should try claim it is because inter 'gladly' without class appealed and claimed last seasons one. Which is an absolute joke, weren't even in the running of it. Which is even more upsetting cause there actually going to win a legit one this season

, bloody merda wait till next season!
In which case I think we may as well claim it, only because inter claimed it which seems kind of low in a sense. I mean since they didn't scratch both titles, makes sense someone should be awarded the other title. Which at least we were around the mark for with the additional shiftiness of the milan-juve game derailing our run at it.
