Carlo Ancelotti acknowledges he is looking to become Italy Coach, but is not going to rush Roberto Donadoni. “It’s an objective, but not now.â€
Recent rumours suggest that Donadoni’s failure to beat Scotland on Wednesday would see him sacked during the summer and replaced by Ancelotti, with former Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi taking over at Milan.
“The Nazionale is an objective, even if not in the immediate future,†conceded Carletto. “It is certainly an aim of all Coaches to lead their own country. I hope it will be a little further on in my career.
“For the moment my future is certainly tied to Milan. I hope to stay here for many more years, because I am happy.â€
However, Ancelotti is a divisive figure even at the San Siro. Just days after a similar package was sent to Inter headquarters, an envelope containing a bullet and insulting phrases towards the Coach and his players was sent to the Milan camp.
“I think what happened at Catania can comfortably be considered in a whole other dimension,†he said, recalling the February 2 riots in which police officer Filippo Raciti was killed.
“These are just nasty pranks done to get publicity and we must take them for what they are. At the end of the day, I couldn’t care less.â€
The newspaper headlines are still packed with rumours of a summer bid for Ronaldinho, especially after the Brazilian commented that playing alongside Kaka would be wonderful.
“Ronaldinho is a dream for every club. Milan certainly like him, but so do many others, above all Barcelona.â€
