President Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that Milan are in pole position to sign Ronaldinho if Barcelona decide to sell the Brazilian star.

The Rossoneri have made no secret of the fact that the Brazilian is one of their summer targets, after transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti was appointed to contact the player’s brother and agent Roberto Assis in the past few weeks.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani had also publicly admitted that the Rossoneri were ready to start negotiations with the Spanish giants, as all conversations to extend the player’s deal with the Blaugrana until 2014 had stalled so far.

“I believe we would be ready to make a move if Barcelona were to sell Ronaldinho,” confirmed Berlusconi to La Domenica Sportiva after Sunday’s win over Sampdoria at the San Siro.

“He is a great player, although we would obviously need to understand what his effect would be on the opponents and his teammates. Even with him on the team, tonight we would have had some problems. Luck plays a great part in football.”

The former Prime Minister also declared that Milan have targeted Gianluigi Buffon and could make an offer to Juventus, seeing the latest rumours suggesting that Nelson Dida has agreed a free transfer to Barcelona.

“Buffon is an excellent goalkeeper and we are definitely interested in his services if we will fail to renew Dida’s deal,” explained the Rossonero, as the Brazilian’s contract expires on June 30 and talks to extend have been unsuccessful so far.

“Dida cannot believe that Milan are willing to pay him more than what has been agreed for with other champions, like Kaka,” concluded Berlusconi.

The Rossoneri have a strict salary policy that cannot be changed and the Rossoneri have always stated that Dida could not earn more than the other champions on the squad, despite him being a top level player.

3 of Bilbao’s players went to complain to him because he "joked" tricking so much with their team-mates.

Next Summer: Buffon or R10.

Again... the 2 are impossible. rolleyes.gif

Rather than Buffon!?? I think if Dida leaves then Buffon is more than a necessity. We could do with much cheaper attackers than Ronaldinho.

I'm still not convinced that Dida will leave. This storys about him joining Barca are most likely b/s. In the end he will renew his contract. Then we don't need Gigi.

Cmon... a keeper is a keeper. Ronaldinho is only the best player in the world. rolleyes.gif

We don't have a SS since Shevchenko left, and R10 can be the man for that place.

I've seen more matches won by Buffon than R20! cool.gif

With that money we would get Buffon plus 2 great attackers in chance one of them fails!! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Please...

I think you and many people are not getting the idea: Silvio will only spend 80M or something in Ronaldinho.
He won't do anything like: Torres for 40M + Villa for 45M in the same Summer. Never.

In fact I doubt Milan will give more than 20M for any player anytime soon (besides 10R and Gigi).

The idea "how Milan should spend his money". Problem is that Milan don't have $$$, Berlusconi is the one who has and it's his decision where to spend on.

Oh, and I'm only talkin' like this looking at what Berlusconi said on the last 1-2 years.

I hope I'm wrong and Milan buy'em all. cool.gif

I totally agree. Kaka is our Ace. He's also younger than Ronaldinho and I'm not sure Barca would let Ronaldinho go without asking for Kaka.

I would focus on revitalizing our defense, and maybe getting Eto'o or maybe David Villa.

BTW Gilardino really needs to step it up.

Please, you're lips to God's ears. We already have a world-class GK and they don't grow on trees.

If that's the case, then how does Berlu intend to pay for both Buffon and R10, neither of whom will come cheap? His little speech about the contract is a facade in an attempt to get rid of Dida and lure Buffon.

Who would you try to woo?? Buffon or the guy in your avatar??

R10 is gonna be a Milan player by next season. End of discussion.

Buffon, now that is a new discussion. Buffon will most likely leave Juve next season and if there is a club that has the gravit to sign such a keeper then it;s Milan. Anyone who doubts this ... Answer to Milanstar tongue.gif biggrin.gif

If Silvio bring R10 and Buffon in one season, then the lime light will be on Serie A again. cool.gif

If Liverpool kicks Barcelona out of competition so early I guess his motivation will disappear. He already won 2 or 3 La Ligas. He would need something "new".

...

Basically what I'm trying to say is that:

Barcelona OUT of Champions League = Everyone happy. A better world, in fact. smile.gif

I agree with you, Portugal. It'd be nice to see another team win (except maybe that blue English team or the Merda).

Why ? Cuz Barcelona is the highest club R10 can aspire to ??

If we dont make our move, Madrid will lure him away in a heart beat.

Valencia want an insane fee for David Villa, though he is a top-class striker.

I realize that Giuseppe Rossi is several years too young to generally be considered for Milan (he's still a teenager) but he's been impressive. He's a good finisher.

Pretty much all the big teams remaining in the CL - Barca, Lyon, Bayern, et al. - are having sluggish seasons right now and Inter hopefully performing another CL choke (drawing at home to Valencia!), so there's still a chance for us to jump into the catbird's seat and sneak back into the final. smile.gif
