Milan are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after it was reported Nelson Dida agreed a free transfer to Barcelona.

The Brazilian’s contract expires on June 30 and talks to renew have been unsuccessful, so today the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ claims the reason behind his reticence is a deal to switch over to the Nou Camp.

The Blaugrana have long been interested in the shot-stopper and the Spanish Press insists there is a verbal agreement in place.

Considering Dida’s many injury problems this season, it’s now likely Milan will look elsewhere rather than enter a bidding war with Barca.

Juventus man Gianluigi Buffon is a known target, although Inter are also interested and it’s by no means certain he will leave Juventus at the end of the season.

Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc impressed during the midweek Champions League clash in Scotland and has joined the list of potential alternatives, although he doesn’t have the Serie A pedigree needed to be the top choice.

Milan are also involved in more rumours of a swap deal, this time with Roma. Filippo Inzaghi’s unhappiness at the arrival of Ronaldo is no secret and he has confirmed he’s seriously considering moving on this summer.

With Vincenzo Montella returning from his loan spell at Fulham but still not finding space at the Olimpico, there could be an exchange.

The ‘Corriere dello Sport’ newspaper suggests that Inzaghi would go to Roma on loan in exchange for Montella to Milan – a move that had already been rumoured in January.

Annoying, but replaceable in my opinion (assuming Silvio is willing to spend some money).

I'd welcome any of the following:

- Buffon
- Cech wink.gif
- Amelia
- Coupet
- Frey

I think Buffon or Amelia are most likely, although wasn't there talk of Hildebrand a while back?
Il Capitano
That ungratefull b*tch, without milan he would be nothing and this is the thanks we get for making him on the best keeper in the world.
Portman
Get Akinfeev. We'll have an amazing keeper for the next decade.

Buffon is expensive and Silvio will only spend big next Summer in R10.
weeeow
Dida sad.gif

Amelia devil.gif devil.gif
dst
in this order: Buffon (possible), Cech (impossible), Akinfeev (quite easy).

It's a shame Dida's leaving for free. dry.gif

ps Barcelona finally decided to replace Valdes!?? rolleyes.gif

I belive this is just some gossip...but, yes it is a shame of loosing Dida to a free transfer. From that list I`d welcome Buffon and Coupet momentarily. Frey maybe, but I`m not so sure. Amelia...well, I`ve told my point of view on that subject many times before - he is not up to take the responsibility of beeing Milans No.1 keeper with only Kalac and Storari as his backups. Cech would be just a waist of money, cause that`s what Chelsea would ask... cool.gif

Hildebrand is in great shape and will be avaible for free after this season.

I`d add keepers like Doni, Akinfeev and Gomes (PSV) to that list.. biggrin.gif

Doni? He is, at his best, Roma quality. Not Milan number 1 material.

It's real shame if Dida leaves for free. And i thought he was a good guy.
Gomes or Akinfev would be good replacers for Dida. And i wouldn't say no for Buffon.
btw i think Hildebrand is going to Valencia(?)
m1ke
I've never actually seen Akinfeev play - is he any good? I can't see Milan playing a 20 year old as a first choice keeper, it's just not their style!
ToNTZa
I prefer buying young players for less than old ones for more. We could loan him somewhere for season or two. Buffon would be the best man to replace Dida right now.

I've watched him play in the 2004/2005 UEFA Cup Semis and Final with CSKA Moscow and he was breath-taking!

I'm convinced Silvio is determined to send a big message to the merda and take back what belongs to us thus I believe he will buy Buffon if Dida leaves Milan!!

Don't be too shocked if this happens. I've read in several places that we want him back from Toro at the end of the season, even though Toro want to buy him

Yeah... wasting 30M/euros or something huge like that? Nah... next July he would only waste big on R10.

Buffon + Ronaldinho = Out of this world. Not even Abramovich.

I dont know why, but i dont really want Buffon. Yet i understand that Akinfeev 's and his experience can not be compared. sad.gif

i dont think you quite realise how much money this man has exactly. He could buy 10 ronaldinho's and quite easily afford buffon.

Berlusconi has 11 billion. Now, although he can afford buying Ronaldinho and Buffon together, but Milan will NEVER EVER do such thing under Berlusconi and Galliani's wings. These people are smarter than Abramovic and the rest. Spending that much money doesn't mean that we are gonna win titles back to back AT ALL. And usually these kinds of purchases break the harmony in a team. Anyways, Buffon and Ronaldinho in the same year won't happen as Portugal said.

Although I like Dida and am grateful for all he's done for us, his time is now up and him getting a transfer to Barca is best for all concerned.

My choices are as folow:

1. Buffon - Expensive but the best.

2. Gomes - has been awesome for PSV for about 18months and would be cheaper than Gigi.

3.Amelia - Cheap and has got Serie A experience, but there's a big difference between Livorno and Milan. Could he handle the pressure???????

I'm not even considering the two faced w*nker abbiatti after all that he said on his blog - filthy turncoat who's not even good enough for Milan IMO wink.gif

I know exactly how much money he has. But like I said above, no team would waste 120M or something in 2 players in the same Summer. Not even Real Madrid.

Something along the lines of "I'm glad I've gone to Juve and I don't want to return to Milan" He also joked with the Juve fans about Milan losing a game IIRC

Berlusconi: 'Ronaldo eccellente.

Silvio Berlusconi in the end of Milan-Sampdoria:

"Dida's future? Talk about the present...

I think he said it all. Goodbye Dida and thanks for all.

Overall the whole rumors make lots sense. Valdes is solid at best, he's form over the past 2 has been good. But with the players in front of him, well that helps the confidence. but that goal he conceed against liverpool is an example of how sh!tty he can be. I'm just surprised they've waited so long to get a world class GK. Buffon is the best and i'd rather him over ronaldinho then reinforce our def, mid, attack with cheaper players e.i players that dont cost 80 million euros a pop rolleyes.gif

Also you must know that Valdes is not exactly the most popular person in Barcelona... biggrin.gif

i still find it strange that no one, other than this website, has said anything about this

one would think if this was already said and done that someone from milan or barca would have said something

still curious to see how true this is

As I said on anotehr topic, I still don't think it'll happen. Dida and Silvio are just maneuvering around an extension of Didas contract. Silvio knows that there are only 2 or 3 Gks out there with the quality to replace Dida (Hildebrand is definetely not one them IMO), so what intrest could he have in letting him go? And Dida is already 33, I'm sure he doesn't want to move to a new league etc. Plus I think he feels comfortabe at Milan.

Only Silvio knows whether or not he can bring Ronaldinho to Milan this coming summer. If he can't do it then he'll certainly let Dida go and buy Buffon cause it also his last chance to do so. It all depends on whether or not R20 will sign for Milan!

Brilliant in the WC? Brilliant in penalties.

He's a bad keeper - believe me. Everyone down here criticizes Scolari to put him in the first 11. He's a penalty-killer, yes but a really bad keeper overall.

Storari or Fiori are better than him. For sure.

PS: Maybe because he killed England twice, he's so hyped internationally.

Fiori yes. Storari? No...But Ricardo is surely not for Milan suitable. If you watched the WC close - every single goal kick by Ricardo was on the edge of creating unneccessary trouble. Some of them actually created them. Also his nervous and weird character...I`dont know,..he is more a Inter keeper to me biggrin.gif .
