Milan star Kaka is officially an Italian citizen after a ceremony in the northern city this afternoon. “I’m honoured,” he said.

The Brazilian international was rewarded with dual nationality today given his peninsula roots and he’s delighted with his new status.

“I’m honoured and really am happy,” he underlined. “I’m now Italian and Brazilian.

“This will help me in the future and I’m sure it can also be of some use to Milan. I really am Italian in all aspects now and an integral part of this Italian club.”

Kaka’s fresh citizenship means that the Rossoneri can register him as an Italian and thus free-up a non-EU spot in their squad ahead of their summer transfer campaign.

The 24-year-old, who obviously can’t play for Italy given his Brazilian career, joined the San Siro boys in 2003 from Sao Paulo.

He was an instant hit with the fans and is now an integral part of boss Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at the Stadio Meazza.

Kaka, a known transfer target for Real Madrid, signed a new Milan contract until June 2011 last summer.

An EU spot freed up.

Hmm.. will it be R10 that takes it or a young prospect like say, Pato?
Darunia
Pretty sure R10 just got his spanish citizenship... although an EU space is always useful.
misha
If I remember correctly the rule is that we are allowed to sign only one non EU player per year

as I know in Italy there's not any rule that limits non-EU players. The rule is that teams are allowed to buy only one non-EU player/per season.
Correct me if I'm wrong!

im 100% sure that u r wrong.
in CM, u only can buy one non - EU player per season
but in FM, u can make several transfer until its limit.
If im remember correctly, milan can sign 11 non EU players..
Seems like the transfer rule has been changed or improved.
Correct me if im wrong unsure.gif

Look, I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from, etiquette and protocal are not optional. And just because your mother failed do acquaint you with precepts and Emily post book of etiquette, is no reason why I should have to suffer through your ignorance...

^^^ Exactly what max said.

If that where so then Inter would have a SERIOUS problem since non of their starters are Italian rolleyes.gif

in FM you can buy 10 non-EU players in 10 seasons for example.
the number of them its not limited, but the number of bought non-EU players per season si limited to 1 (one).
