L'A.C. Milan comunica di aver prolungato il contratto che lega Clarence Seedorf alla società rossonera fino al 30 giugno 2011.

Unbelievable... rolleyes.gif

Come next season, he will make a great sub! devil.gif

i think this is great...even after he may have passed his prime he can still take the young players under his wing.

hmpf...
now we know why galliani is a cheapskate,
he wants to pay seedorf's lazy *** for 4 years.

great news i think clarence still has lots to offer and after all he is only 30y.o. with his guidance over the young players he will be a valuable influence and is still a great player
FORZA CLARENCE FORZA MILAN biggrin.gif

I expect Milan to renew with Costacurta and Cafu on the next hours.

Absolute no sense. And some of you expect Clarence to sit on the bench? A guy like him? Oh yes, of course. rolleyes.gif

I think a 4 years contract is a lot, 2 years extention would be great!

Anyway, I just hope we'll get his replacement soon, and it could be ... Sneijder wink.gif

his replacement will be Gourcuff.

I think renewing was a good idea.

I have a special place in my heart for Seedorf, maybe it's because he is the last of his kind from THAT dutch team.

So I'm happy that he's staying, Seedorf on a good day can finish off a team be himself, it's his motivation that should come into question at times.

Anyway he's still 30 years old, and renewing a contract, no matter how long it is, doesn't mean he'll stay the duration.

Kaka is just 24, so he will be occupying that position for a long time.

And as far as I've seen Gourcuff has always played better in the left side (Seedorf's) rather then when he played Kaka's role. He is much more of a playmaker rather then an attacking midfielder, some of his passes and long balls out to an on rushing fullback remind me a lot of Pirlo.

For once, I agree with you tongue.gif

I'm all for players extending their contracts, but 30yo's should only be allowed a maximum of two years at a time IMO. Signing them for any longer is a backward step IMO because they won't be happy sitting on the bench and we really need to be looking for replacements for the future. Yet again galliani is being cheap!!! mad.gif

As I said, Gourcuff will slowly fase Seedorf out in the next few years.

I think he only had a year to run on his contract so it's better to renew. Also renewing his contract doesn't mean that he will get to stay for it's entire duration.

Seedorf gets along well with everybody and is already taking players like Gourcuff under his wing.

Not to mention that at this point in time he is a vital part in our midfield

I agree that a two year contract is the maximum 30+ year old players should get. Especially in Seedorf's case... I think he'll be more lazy than before! BUT if Milan really plan to demote him to a sub and he's as selfish as Portugal suggests then someone will have to cancel his BIG contract!! wink.gif

selfish and arrogant aren't words i would associate with Clarence. He has been a model professional with all he clubs and you don't win what he has won by being an average player. I hope we use his class and experience to bring through are young talent and i believe he can still offer the team something for another couple of seasons

You don't know what you're talking about. Seedorf is one of the best midfielders in the world, how can you say that? I know he's lazy and sometimes doesn't do anything but walk on the field, but I would never doubt his abilities as a player. This is definitely some good news. Now renew Dida's and Nesta's contracts and I'll be the happiest man in the world. devilsmiley.gif

So now a playmaker can't be an attaking midfield, where should he play behind the DM's rolleyes.gif

Actualy, Yoann never played in that role at Milan, Carlo always used him as a midfielder, but when he was at Rennes he used to play behind the striker and he was very good wink.gif He is/was not the kind of PM's who play in a defensive role, like Seedorf, Pirlo, Xavi, Deco and co. even if Carlo wants to turn in that kind of PM's!

I know what you mean by saying something like Kaka' isn't a playmaker but an attaking midfielder even if I don't like how it sounds, and I agree with you about Yoann being more like Seedorf than Kaka' but I'm pretty sure Yoann will be more usefull if he plays behind the strikers!

Anyway, Carlo seems to see in him Seedorf's sub so I can forget about Sneijder sad.gif

I think Gourcuff's role isn't either Kakà's or Seedorf's sub. He's a central midfielder, something like Deco or Xavi like you mentioned above. I remember reading his father's statement where he said that Yoann likes to play in the center of the midfield, not in front of the defenders or behind the strikers, or even on the wings. Something like this.

---Pirlo--Gattuso---
-----Gourcuff--------
Kakà--------Seedorf
-----Gilardino-----

I think that's the position where Yoann could express he full potential. Not that he's not doing fine where Carlo puts him, but I would never consider him as an attacking midfielder. Simply cause he doesn't have the characteristics of an AM.
milanistar
Would you please tell me what is an AM because I dont think I have the same definition here!

Is ZZ an AM or just a playmaker?

AM = advanced midfielder

I would consider ZZ an AM, yes. But, we're not comparing Gourcuff to Zidane now, are we? Maybe in a couple of years, yes, but definitely not now.

Ok now since every one says that Yoann has the same charactaristics as ZZ, why you dont consider him as an AM???
When he was at Rennes he always played behind the striker and it was his best season so far (since he's not a regular player in Milan)

Rennes used to play 4-5-1 most of the time and he was just behind the striker, but when they played with 2 striker he was on the right!
He was their playmaker and number 10.

EDTIT: He also used to play as a CM along side with Kallstrom

Yeah, but with a 5 men midfield he has more support and so he can handle the position of an AM. He has the characteristics of Zidane, yes, but still Zidane was of another world. He could do things Gourcuff can't, at the moment. Gourcuff is not very fast and he can't dribble well, the opposite of Kakà. That's why I'm saying he cannot be called a pure AM, yet. Maybe in a couple of years when he'll have matured and gained more personality and skills. For the moment, the best way to put Gourcuff in Carlo's line up is the way I mentioned above. But that's just from my point of view, it's not said you have to agree with me.

An attacking midfielder and a playmaker are 2 different things, do you see Kaka doing a lot of defence splitting passes? Or through balls? No he doesn’t do it a lot, he runs at the oppositions defence with speed and is able to take them on with his dribbling abilities, then he realeses a pass to a striker that is free or just shoots. A playmaker will make does passes, through balls or lobs. Both can be play behind the strikers, but they have different characteristics. Look at Seedorf for example when he played in that role, he didn’t have the same effect as Kaka has on the game, but he made decisive passes and lobs to the strikers.

I personally see gourcuff as a central midfielder that is a playmaker (Pirlo’s role) Seedorf and Pirlo aren’t defensive midifelders they are playmakers.

Gourcuff might have played in the AM position in France but Italy is different, he doesn’t have the physicality to handle the heavy marking that role brings with it. Just like Pirlo.

About ZZ I consider him to have both attributes of an AM and a playmaker, he can run at defences and dribble past them but he can also make that great pass.

And isn't Sneijder more of a left midfielder rather then a playmaker?

Thank god there's someone like you to teach me that. rolleyes.gif

I never doubted about his tecnique, quality, etc. Just like R9. Simply he's LAZY. And it's not "sometimes", it's like 95% of the matches.

Milan need fresh players with another pace, not the Seedorf's one. I think everyone can see that.

Alright, Seedorf might be a lazy b!tch but still that means nothing. He's also a leader and an intelligent playmaker. I highly doubt you can find someone of his caliber nowdays. Deco, Lampard, Xavi, Ballack, they're all below him. We always bash Seedorf when the team plays badly. That's probably cause he thinks: "Why do I have to do the hard work while the others don't give a damn about winning or losing? Hell, if nobody cares, why should I care?" But when the teams plays a good match, he's always between the ones with the highest votes. Believe me, if the whole team is motivated, prepare to enjoy some Seedorf show.

The parts in bold are contradictory!! A leader shows himself when things are going bad, not when everything's OK... If he was really a leader...
han2503
Bashing Seedorf seems to be like everyone's scapegoat when things go wrong rolleyes.gif

He is slow, his game has never been based on speed, but guess what so is Pirlo and imo he was playing even worse then Seedorf during the first half of the season but he never gets the slack Seedorf recieves.

Seedorf is actually a player that thinks with the ball at his feet, that why he seems slower, but he is an important part of our midfield and that can't be denied

Coming to think of it .. I think Milan has an eye for the future .. Cuz Seedorf is a classy player who would be considered a super sub .. A key player when the going gets tough in our midfield.

There isn't another like him; super slow, huge @ss, powerfull shot, scary as sh!t, and an excellent motivator.

For his attributes, I think Milan did the right thing and he should stay with us for 2-3 more seasons for sure king.gif
