Milan are on the verge of signing Messina goalkeeper Marco Storari, according to the latest reports in Italy.

The Rossoneri are in desperate need of a new man between the sticks after Zeljko Kalac joined Nelson Dida in the infirmary with a knee problem.

With the Australian set to be out for a month, the Italian giants want a new shot-stopper before the window closes on January 31.

First-choice Dida, whose deal expires in June, has been sidelined since the end of November – after damaging knee ligaments during the Champions League match with AEK Athens – and is still some weeks away from full fitness.

The club have reportedly contacted Messina, who have confirmed that there is a negotiation underway to bring the 30-year-old to the San Siro.

Milan were also paired with Matteo Sereni, but Lazio have refused to sell despite the player’s desire to leave the capital city club.

Silvio Berlusconi’s outfit were also interested in Livorno’s Marco Amelia, who would favour a transfer but is also a target for Spartak Moscow.

Milan could make a £7m bid for the Tuscan shot-stopper and Germany 2006 World Cup winner.

Kalac injured.. he'd probably do better if he was injured. One of our (australian) worst productions ever, such a tragedy having to have him related to australian soccer and milan .

Could something happen.. amelia. If kalac if injured.. as usual galliani looks to the 30 year old bracket, so frustrating.

He is capable of the spectacular, but has a rep of the odd blunder. actually if anyone watched the roma/messina highlights, he was the reason they got a draw(that and chivu's stupid penalty).

Above average keeper. He would make a great sub for Dida.

A goalkeepr's prime usualy starts around 30 to 35-36. I never like the idea of having a 24 year old keeper unless he is special, like Buffon and Casillas.

He does not really convince me....
although he's better than Kalac... but that's no comparison

Storari made some awfully good saves during the Milan - Messina game I saw at San Siro in November. I'd say he's a great signing as second keeper.

Amelia won't come while we still have Dida. If we get Amelia I would expect him to be our replacement for Dida.

Storari will be our second choice. And he is a good second choice to have

His agent says he is gonna sign for Milan tomorrow.

1,2M/euros will be what Messina get from the transfer. His contract will be until 2009. 400m/euros per year.

Any one else think the bald man is losing some vision? Why doesn't he just fork over some money and sign someone dida's level. Maybe frey, hildebrand, amelia, buffon!

Because ? We are signing a 2nd goalkeepr? We are still negotiating with Dida. If he deon't sign a new contract, we'll get Buffon in summer.

Because they want him as a sub keeper, or for the coppa italia, not for the seria A or the champions league, and i have seen this player on some games with messina, and he has more level that kalac and fiori together... he;s a good keeper.

and well hopefully one of the names u mentioned before will arrive to milan next season to be our 1st keeper, some people of milanfan wants amelia , other to dida, but personally i prefer buffon, for me he's still the best keeper in the world, and it would be great if he sings a contract with the rossoneri.

Not frey, when he was like 21 and was parma's 1st keeper i said that perhaps he could became one of the best in the world , but he's not as good as you think, it happened the same with bogdan lobont, former fiorentina keeper, he was exellent with ajax, and then, suddenly all his level was completly lost.

Hildebrand is a good addition, hes young, fast, quite tall

Other good choice, could be cehc, but i highly doubt chelsea will ever release him.

i dont think that milan should keep dida even though i love that man to death, but i think his time at milan is somewhat over, i dont know if you agree with me or not. goalkeepr prime for me is 28-35. But kahn has proved me wrong over the years and lehman aswell.

I hope this is not just the way we'd like to construe things...

Anyway... although I love Dida... I'd prefer our first keeper was Buffon come next season!
