AC Milan are tabling a £7.5 million bid for Internacional di Porto Alegre striker Alexandre Pato.
The teenager is currently starring for Brazil at this month's U20 South American championships and his form has convinced Milan chiefs to push through an immediate deal for the player. Pato's Internacional contract carries a £15 million buyout clause, but their tight financial situation means they cannot afford to refuse an offer as big as Milan's.
Pato doesn't carry a European passport, but Milan hope to get around the foreign ruling in Italy in a similar fashion to how Julio Cesar (Inter via Chievo) and Adrian Mutu (Juventus via Livorno) managed to earn moves to Serie A last year.
SourceI really believe we need young attackers because Pippo is getting old and Milan can not count on him any longer

Too much, I believe. But... they'll know what they're doing.

No the clubs interest in him was confirmed a few weeks ago when Umberto Gandini (I think it was him) said they where very interested in Pato and the fact that he didn't have an EU passport was a problem but if they had to they would find a way around it and sort it out so that we will ba able to dign him in january

once in 5-6 years there has to be a change in generation and include some young blood in a team, and thats exaclty what will happen with Milan next season. Most of changes will be in defence, however.
I heard about Pato, but this time is from Tribal so the news enters in one of my ears and gets out from the other.

mmm i would say we are a team with class and dont want to buy players for no reason....
lets remind ourselfs that silvio is the ex-prime minister of italia(I dont want to say what other stuff he ownes because it will a long time

so i definetly dont think money is the reason and IMO although galliani has screwd up the last transfer season and probably this one(hope not) we have got a pretty nice record that real madrid or chelsea hasnt been close to achive in this new millenium....so to tell u the truth i believe that galliani knows what hes doing...unless someone gives him drugs every time the transfer season comes on
IMO if we buy someone like IDK Beckham the credit will be his
and for example if gourcuff becomes the next best player in the world then the credit will be ours
and to tell u the truth that makes me proud of being a rossonero
i beleive PATO could make history here with KAKA

Let's just hope that what Galliani said about Milan's affair with Brazilians was not just a bed-time fairy tale...

there is a difference
between having money, and willing to spend it.

nowadays chelsea and RM are more popular for young players...

yes but you said "we're not madrid or chelski" as if we don't have enough money... 20m is nothing for Berlusconi!!
Young footballers like those two because they are big-spenders and are full of big name players, not because of the beautiful football they're playing or anything... I mean, it's their policy to have such players... I doubt they'd want Gattuso!

A slight possibility that Pato ever comes to Milan is only if he has european passport. Milan can only sign one non european player in the summer (in january noon, that is way we were waiting for Grimi - so he could work out his european papers), so if Pato hasn't got it, Milan will not loose a non european place for unproven 17 year old boy. That is the reality.

Inter Turn Down Milan Bid For Pato
17 year-old Internacional de Porto Alegre striker Alexandre Pato has apparently received his first European offer, although the Brazilian club have rejected the bid out of hand.
According to Italian sports daily ‘Corriere dello Sport’, AC Milan made a 10 million Euro bid that was turned down immediately by Internacional de Porto Alegre.
The Inter management have tagged the player at 20 million Euros and won’t budge until they get the figure they’re asking for.
Alexandre Pato is also attracting admiring glances from the Rossoneri’s Nerazzurri arch-rivals and Internacional may use their namesakes’ interest to raise the starting price even further.
The player is currently preparing for Brazil’s Under-20 South American tournament that sees Brazil face Argentina on Friday in Asunción, Paraguay, in the first of five final matches that will decide who the princes of South America are.
Pato broke through to the professional side after his contract buyout clause was hiked up from 2 million to 20 million Euros earlier this year, Inter fielding him foe the first time against Palmeiras where he scored and booked a place for the successful FIFA CWC Japan 2006 challenge against Ronaldinho’s Barça.
