Paolo Maldini is still considering the idea of retiring at the end of the season. “I will see what happens in the next few months.â€
The Rossoneri symbol is in his 23rd campaign with the club and had revealed his intention to retire from football at the end of the season, as he was still suffering from knee problems despite the surgery he underwent in Belgium last year.
“My retirement? I haven’t ruled out the idea, we will see what happens in the next six months,†said Maldini, currently in Malta with the rest of the team for a mini winter training camp.
“At the moment I am feeling fine and the muscular problems are behind me. I am 100 per cent. I will decide what to do in June,†added the legendary stopper.
“This time in Malta will be very important for us in terms of training. The last time Carlo Ancelotti and I were here with Italy, we won the Champions League. If that repeats itself we will have to come back again every winter!â€
Maldini was then asked to comment the reports suggesting Real Madrid firebrand Antonio Cassano might join the club.
“It’s difficult to express a judgement on Cassano. We never played together, not even in the Nazionale,†explained the Milan captain.
“In any case, settling into a new club depends a lot on how the person acts when he arrives. Our locker room is democratic and united, there are no veterans who are more powerful than the other players.â€

This is really strange. To think of Paolo retiring, but Billy staying on. And for both to retire at the same time would be kinda painful.

If Billy decides to stay on another season, it's going to be one of the worst decisions he's ever made. As much as it would be painful for him to retire, I think that would be the best solution for both him and the club.
