Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani hopes his side will avoid Barcelona in Munich’s Champions League draw on Friday December 15.

The Rossoneri will play Lille at the San Siro on Wednesday, but have already qualified for the last 16 as the winners of Group H.

“We hope we can avoid Barcelona in the next round,” said Galliani on Wednesday evening.

“We already met them last year, but I believe they are the most dangerous opponents we could find in the next round.

“However, we also have a 20 per cent chance of finding Real Madrid,” added the former Lega Calcio chief.

“Eto’o and Ronaldinho? They are great players that along with Lionel Messi form the strongest attack in the world – but they are impossible transfer targets for us,” he concluded.

I'm 50 50 on who I want us to face part of me wants to get an easy side, like Celtic, and a part of me wasnts us to get Barca or Real, so it will push our managment to make some sort of effort in the transfer window

we should fear any team we play cuz the way things are going we are underdogs no matter who we play, ya out of the last 16 we probably have the weakest squad, the least motivation (with the exception of kaka the rest of this team dont put enough effort) and the worst form.

Oh dear... You think from now 'till Februrary things are going to remain the same? I would worry more of the remaning Serie A games 'till the break than who we're going to face next round. rolleyes.gif

We're being overly drammatic now aren't we? rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Milan will never be underdogs, no matter what form they are in, it's just the way things are, we will always be the European giants.

This game shouldn't be taken as a point of reference, we looked like we where getting some sort of semblance of order against Cagliari and Messina in Serie A, let's see if we can build on that starting in the match against Toro.

We just have to wait fot the xmas break before we start coming to conclusions about how we will get ***** in the CL.

If we could just at least recover Rino and Dida after the break then that would be a huge plus, if the management make some smart buys, then that would be another plus, and if the team start getting into shape and regainind form then there is no doubt that we can somewhat revive our season, even in Serie A
milanista88
we can be drawn with one of the following teams, they all finished second in their groups and aren't italian, obviously.
porto
celtic
r.madrid
psv
barcelona

looking at their results, they are all quite inconsistent, but i'd prefer one of porto, celtic or psv. devilsmiley.gif

That's what I thought. If our injured players are back and our team starts to fight we can still beat any team in the world in 1 or 2 matches. But we have no team to win the Scudetto....well obviously we don't....
Bluesummers
once we have dida back it should be good, kalac's mistake today made me want to throw something at the tv. (lille's first goal)

Exactly, we are practically the same team we where last season excluding Sheva, we can still beat any team in the worl if we make some sort of effort and put up a fight.

Right now the situation with the injuries isn't helping at all and neither is the fact that we have a thin bench that has no depth to cover for all the injuries.

If we want to go far in the CL this season then we need to recover our injured players, make use of the January transfer market, regain some form and show some some b@lls when we play. We are way to complaicent at the moment. Last nights game was a little run out imo, everyone was jogging around doing nothing. rolleyes.gif

I agree about the team being complacent in our previous games, during this season. We havn't changed much from last season, when our team was obviouslly falling apart.

We lost against Lille .. wow .. I didnt bother to watch that match; whats the point, we were threw 2 weeks ago .. Which makes this match a practice match wink.gif

But to make use of our qualification; we would have to bring in 2-3 players .. That is inevitable, let's just see who we draw against, I'm guessing that will decide who is coming smile.gif

we should fear everyone, not only barca.
even PSV or Porto or whoever
han2503
Lyon are my biggest fear not Barca.
Jack Sparrow
...but I don't think we will face Lyon. Barca is bad, but something stinks about Real and the Fat One.

Of course we still have the name but ability wise... The year before we won CL we lost to Hapoel Tel-Aviv!!! in 1/4 (first leg) of the uefa cup and then we were beaten hard by Dortmund in 1/2 (I think it was 4:1 or something).

Yes, we could be beaten, we have flaws, as all teams do, but we are rightfully labeled 'European Giants' .. To say we are underdogs bcz of our form this season, is degrading, considering, there is no team filled w/ champions as Milan. Each player we have has won at least one major title. Experience ( hell of a lot ) .. And one of the richest clubs there is .. Which team, other than Madrid, can be considered European Giants ?

Lyon ? Chelsea ? rolleyes.gif

We have a weak squad now, that I agree w/ but we are no underdog ..

We always will be European Giants like Madrid, Barca, Manchester, Juve...

Again when I say underdogs I refer to ability. Every big team has downfalls. Barca had something like 5-6 bad years when they weren't in CL or were beaten in a group stage. Dinamo kiev beat them 3:0 at home and 4:0 away!!. They still were European Giants but they were playing like sh!t. They have come back because they are a big team (money , tradition...) and they are now one of the best teams in the world. We had many bad years either. We still were European Giants. You can't alway be on top. This yaer we are having a bad year and there are many teams that are better ans that's makes us underdogs vs teams like Chelsea who are clearly better then us this season. The good thing is that this situation is temporary.

Yeah, I think Chelsea play the tyope of game that would suit us. And despite wat Mourinho said in his interview, they aren't stringer then they where last year. Imo they where much better last year.

If we where to face a big team in the quarters I would prefer it to be either Real or Chelsea. Real would be easier then Chelsea

I understand our situation is dire and above all temporary .. I understand what ur trying to say by saying underdogs that we are expected to loose.

What I am trying to say is that when teams face us; they play with a ten man defence, how could we be underdogs ?

In Europe, our record (although it's pointless to have a record and no team to make it stand, none-the-less...) is the envy of ALL the teams, we are as consistent as can be. Maybe we wont make it past the next round; but even so, we will enter as European Giants against any team that we may face .. We might loose 6-0 and the team that beats us will be proud of it, as they know that they have beaten Milan .. Not an underdog team ..

They are stronger, in a sense that they can play two types of football .. w/ wingers and/or w/o wingers .. They have the players to make it happen .. But if we had a choice to face Barca, Madrid, PSV, etc etc .. I would go for Chelsea ..

Not because of how they play, who their players r, or how strong their team is; but because I want to Milan to show Shevchenko what he really missed the most devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif

Yes. Small teams like Livorno, Atalanta... Did Inter played vs us like that? Of course not and neither are Chelsea, Barca... will.
Underdogs in a way that nobody will call us favorites against teams like Chelsea this year, but that's doesn't mean that we aren't European Giants (we are. big time)

Of corse they envy our record, tradition and history. We are one of the bigest clubs in the world but curently ability wise we aren't even in a best 20.

On the Round of 16, no.

We were the 1st on our group, just like Liverpool on their group.
