I was reading today's spanish newspaper AS and I checked out the new "Real Madrid @ NBA in 2009".

Calderon, their president said that the NBA is going to open an "European division" and the ONLY CLUBS THAT WERE REALLY INTERESTED WERE REAL MADRID AND MILAN.

"Only Milan, showed an interest just like us. People talk about Paris, Germany, Greece but only us 2 (Milan and Real Madrid) showed that want NBA fo real."

So, what do you think? Milan in NBA? Yes or no?

Milan would have a basketball section playing in NBA.

Just like Real Madrid have.

Real Madrid don't have it yet.

I don't think european clubs will play in NBA anytime soon. There is too much problem with that idea. David Stern also said something like that a few month ago. NBA clubs take europe best players anyway.

BTW Real Madrid and Milan ( Armani Jeans Milano) are not as strong in basketball as they are in football, especially Milan who even don't play in euroleague

Oooh...so its like another thing completely 'cept for the team name?

I meant... a basketball section. As far I know, this season, Real Madrid is the favourite for the Spanish League (ACB). At the moment with 11 matches played, they have 100% wins.

And if both teams go to NBA, they'll need more $$$ on the team. That's obvious.

How about Chelsea going for basketball? They got plenty of money...hahaha

basketball section? unsure.gif

Spanish League yes (altough Tau is a very good team). Europe no. The strongest clubs in europe are Panathinaikos, Maccabi Tel Aviv (3 finals an 2 wins for the last 3 years) , Olympiacos and CSKA (the current champion). Real Madrid are not in Euroleague (like CL in football) either because of their low league positision last year.

Already have a basketball team, a basketball 'section'/'zone'/'part' in the club.

Armani Jeans Milano... well, I don't consider them as the "AC Milan". And if we're going to NBA, we'll be Milan. Not Armani JM...

The current ownership, which bought the club in 2004, includes Adriano Galliani (President of Italian soccer club A.C. Milan), Massimo Moratti (vice president of rival Internazionale), and stylist Giorgio Armani, among others

so there will be like the West/East divisions plus the European one?? Well sounds like globalization... but I guess it's cool... Although the European type of play is entirely different; There is also something called "Defence" in Europe... rolleyes.gif

But if "Armani Jeans Milano" (puke.gif) is the team we're talking about then I don't give a sh1t!! If there's Milan entering the competition then It'll be fun!! smile.gif

The thing is.. I don't think it'd be a success... but I'd love to see it happen!

What do you think of something like a "World Champions League" in football too? There was an idea of creating a European League (not like CL a normal championship) by UEFA ( rolleyes.gif ) some time ago and they'd made a survey where most people said they wouldn't be interested in it in the long term. They answered that their "everyday" football matches are the domestic league's ones!! Plus there's always the problem of travelling around Europe to watch their team away from home... rolleyes.gif But I guess air tickets would get cheaper - that would be good!

Anyway... I can't see it happening any "century" near... cool.gif
