Milan have targeted Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, according to reports in Italy. Rossoneri directors Adriano Galliani and Ariedo Braida are ready to launch a bid for the midfielder this summer and guarantee him a central midfield role. The report claims that Milan are aware of Gerrard’s worsening relationship with Rafa Benitez, following the Spanish boss’ decision to play the England ace out of position on the right-wing instead of his favoured central-midfield role.

It's from Football Italia... not that it makes any difference. But I think Gerrard would leave, he was even close to go to Chelski!!

Yeah. Then he renewed with Liverpool.
Milan Are Brilliant
I think just like Sheva thought the time was right to move on from us, Gerrard is fast approaching realizing the time is right to leave Liverpool.

He's the best center-midfielder in the world. Would be a dream to have him in Milan... but I can't see Gerrard in the Italian Football...

Gerrard in Milan ... Can he coup w/ Italian football ?! I mean it is more tactical, we'll have to see .. IMO, he'd flop BIG time, cuz Milan isn't centered on one player; as Liverfool are centered on Gerrard.

FOR SURE MAN!!! We are tottally NOT centered on this one Brazilian player that is pretty much our savior right now... And look, we were totally not centered on Sheva either cause we are still friggin' THRIVING even after he left....

very unrealistic...
why would liverpool let him go?

i think it might be refreshing for gerrard not to have to carry a team on his shoulders and concentrate on a team role. i wiuld welcome his signing he would be part of an awesome midfield and i think he carries abit more intelligence so the transition to calcio could be a realitive smooth change

He's not even the best midfielder in Liverpool... Xabi Alonso is...

When they spend all of the money they won from winning the CL on him (in other words when they offered him more than Chelski were willing to offer) ... that is not loyalty IMO!!

he's great at what he does but I don't think he's what he need. Neither do I believe he would succeed in Milan. As a matter of fact most Englishmen (and Italians by the way) seem homesick!!

I don't think it's the same... well the result is but what I'm trying to say is that the rest of the Milan squad are all true champions and several steps up from Liverpool's=Milan centered their game around Sheva cause it was comfortable (the man was a phenomenon) while Liverpool did so because they had to. I hope I'm understood... still as I already said, the result is the same.

we need great midfielders

sadly we lost rui costa and kept seedorf, ambrosini, etc....because of this we need very very good midfielders because seedorf is not going to last much longer and i believer there a few others that aren't going to stick around much longer.

i believe he would be a good fit and i think he is greatly needed.

he may not start off as amazing as he is at liverpool, but he is a high class player who will cope with the changes.

Haha .. u really got it don't u .. Well I'm glade this boosts ur ego .. How about some enlightenment while ur at it :

You think Milan is playing for Kaka ?! Haah ..

What you thought Shevchenko would play until he dug his grave in the San Siro .. Because he owes u, me, anyone something ?! Shevchenko left .. End of. (Oh by the way, he wont be replaced)

Kaka leaves to Madrid, so what ?! Life goes on ! He gets a heart-attack tomorrow morning ! So what ? that's it ? AC Milan is tarnished !!!... ohhh damn the whole world will crumble .. Someone needs to get on prozac.

Maybe when u read a bit u'll understand what I'm talkin about ..

B4 Kaka, B4 Shevchenko Milan was consistent domestically and in Europe ...

Where have Liverpool been ?!

Statistics speak ! They havnt been consistent since the 1990, thats the last time they won a league title btw. Last time they won the CL was in 84, that is before 05 ofcourse, (u know why they won that game in Istanbul ? Look again there is a central mdfielder who played in all positions but gk.)

Ohh, u know what .. yeah ur right, we need Sheva and Kaka to actually win something. rolleyes.gif

He was implying that Milan is centered around Shevchenko .. And now some Brazilian; Kaka fills the spot ..

What I was trying to say, was Milan isn't centered on one player; if so then how could Milan continue with consistency w/o MVB, JPP, etc etc

I mean .. it is FACT, Milan dont play for no one. We reached the 2005 finals w/o Shevchenko .. How are we so centered on one player ?!

I just don't see it ?! He makes us look like Arsenal w/o Henry or Barca w/o Ronnie .. And above all the sarcasim, as if he cant tolerate another's opinion ..

*EDIT* Sure Kaka has been the determining factor for most of our results, but he is 1 out of 11 players on the field, he's paid to do his job. As Pirlo is, Nesta, Dida, etc etc .. Gerrard on the other hand has to be more involved all around the pitch, Kaka just attacks and entertains, while Gerrard has to be mobile defending and attacking (above all in brilliant form) to give his team success, a good example is 05 CL .. All their matchs that lead them to the final .. But compare that to the league .. turns out he is human, thus their league position.

Our situation, with the league position, well dst, we all know what happened last summer .. We lost a lot more than we gained. But last season Sheva was out for a long time, the season before that even longer, but we still pegged the leaders and went to the final and semi final respectively.

Almost everytime there is some more dominant player that we more depended on.

In some years Sheva carried the team on his own. Later on the burden was more equally shared (that's why we won some titles) but still Sheva was our more dominant player that without him the team wasn't the same.
In our curent situation we are dependable on Kaka (sadly). It's a fact. He is all we have this seasons. Maybe in next couple of years we can spread the burden and to be great again.

When dominant players leave it's takes time to recover but there will be another player and another.....
X-Offender
R7's got a point. You see, it's not that we're doing so bad cause we don't have Sheva anymore, or if Ricky will leave in the future we're going to suck even more. We're not like Roma who have Totti, Liverpool who have Gerrard or Arsenal who have Henry. Milan is not centered on one player. We won the 98/99 Scudetto without Sheva and the 02/03 Champions League without Kakà. Sure, Sheva was very important to us as Ricky is at the moment. But saying Milan plays for Kakà or stuff like that is insane. We're one of the biggest clubs in the world, we rely our success on the group. If Kakà leaves one day, then fine. It means we're going to sign another great midfielder, nothing else.
Rossoneri7
mishale, when u look at our current squad .. What type of players do u see ?

World champions ? CL finalists ? Serie A champions ?

Then when you look at Liverpool's squad what do you see?

I'm guessing Gerrard .. cuz Crouch aint cutting it I'm afraid .. Maybe Alonso, but that would be about it.

------------

What I was trying to point out from the very beginning is that Milan doesnt center it's play around one particular player .. U have several choices to depend on .. Our defence .. Maldini, Nesta, Kaladze .. Liverpool could only dream for that kind of defence.

The burden that fell on Kaka, was because none of our strikers are in form .. Imagine them in form, would such a burden still be placed on Kaka's shoulders ? He's a play maker, yes I give him credit, but he isn't Milan.

Just days ago, ppl were posting Gerrard is liverpool .. Well I still havent heared anyone say Kaka is Milan, cuz we all know he isn't Milan wink.gif

I'm not comparing Milan to liverpool. I never did.
I'm just describing our curent situation as I see it. Yes we have players that won things before but the fact remains: we are dependable on Kaka this season. I don't like it but it's true. All other players are playing like sh!t (we all know why). As I said before:Maybe in next couple of years we can spread the burden and to be great again. And for that we need changes.

No, I'm totally w/u on a change is needed .. king.gif

Kaka is a phenominal player .. Dont get me wrong, but looking at the big picture, he is doing his job. When you say that we are dependable on Kaka this season, u are not giving enough credit to those whom help Kaka to sparcle .. These players need to be recognized. Cuz it aint a one man's show .. Dida, Nesta, Maldini .. I mean these are players u could depend on .. Look at Broochi, I mean would u feel safer w/ him on the field or Gattuso ... Same goes for Nesta would u feel safer if he was on the field or Simic ?

Liverpool dont have the luxury to choose, they have one world class player and the whole show is around him, he's on form Liverpool do great, he's not they stumble ..

Milan has a problem as a change is needed, cuz we arent used to depend on Kaka .. YES .. But had our strikers bagged in 5 goals a piece, we wouldnt be discussing this right now wink.gif He is great, but not to the extent that we lost because he was out of form, on the contrary we lost because the whole team isn't in form, that's why the game isn't centered on him .. <---I hope u got me on the last part, cuz I think I lost myself, but then re-understood it tongue.gif

There are players that are helping him from time to time but unfortunately this isn't enough and we are in same situation that we were from 1999-2002 when Sheva carried Milan. We both know the problems that caused this and I hope it will be fixed soon.

It has to be fixed mishale, cuz Kaka cant attack by himself, he needs support and strkers to finish off what he creates, thus this team isn't run by one player wink.gif tongue.gif

I dont mean to sound rude by repeating the same thing, but it's just that it makes sense to me that Milan isn't running on all 12 cylinders, just 4 of it's potential cool.gif

We were in dry-dock in those days, Zaccheroni mad.gif .. But u know how we came back .. devil.gif devil.gif

It will be fixed by reinforcing the team and when some players will regain their shape back.

If you take Kaka out of this team (this year) you got nothing. It's not just attack playing bad it's midfield also. And we all know our aging defence without decent fullbacks. Dida was good (bright side). Even all the commentators are saying that this year all we have is Kaka.

There is years like that (you van't be always on top). We had them before and we have one now. It' only temporary

NO ONE said Milan plays for Kaka and I for one didn't compare Liverfool to Milan...

Milan is very much dependent on Kaka right now and if you think he can leave and we'll be fine, you are foolish. Almost any other player could leave right now and we would still be fine...(look at all the injured players...)But not Kaka... So yes, we are dpendent on him right now.

I agree with you, basically we are splitting hair here. In the form we are in we need that someone that could carry us and Kaka is the man that is doing it right now that's all. If Kaka was the one in bad form and say Seedorf was going through the form of his life then we would be dependant on him right now.

It's only normal that this is happening considering we lost one of our most influential players, that has been with us for almost a decade. We will get back but only if our strikers and out of this but only if our strikers and midfielders regain their form. And I hope that's sooner rather then later
Rossoneri7
If something happens to Kaka .. Injured for 6 months .. Don't u think Milan has it in them to replace him ?! They do have the economical means.

If the same happened to Gerrard, would they have the economical means to replace him as Milan could replace Kaka ?

Answer that, then u'll understand what I ment by Milan is not CENTERED on one player.

And no I'm not foolish, but if Kaka leaves in January or anything that prevents him from doing what he's doing at the moment, Milan will be fine .. Things will be taken care off, replace him and life goes on ..

I'm tiered of repeating the same thing .. It's obvious that Kaka is the best player we have, I am not doubting that .. Liverpool play for Gerrard, he is their #1 and their hope for any success; they literally play their tactics around him, gosh does Milan do the same for Kaka ?!

That is why I said we are not centered on one player and Gerrard might be a flop if he transfered. End of .. I can keep repeating the same thing cuz it just is insulting to ur intelligence.

Ofcourse ..

Mourinho kept repeating that Chelsea play the same formation as Milan this season (obviouslly to accomidate S7 .. ) .. Though he clearly hasnt shown signs of progress there.

Obviouslly the technical aspect of Seria A is quite different than that of EPL

That's just a load of bull. They don't play the same system we play. Nor Lampard and neither is Essien what Pirlo is, and Micheal Ballack is no Kaka. Sheva used to trive because of the support he got from our midfield. Our game was suited to him perfectly, the slow intrecate passing game. Chelsea don't have those kinds of players. Just because they play the same formation it doesn't make it the same system and tactics
