Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has told Nelson Dida to quickly come to a decision on his Rossoneri career.

The goalkeeper’s agreement expires in June 2007 and their has been whispers of a split given that talks over a new deal have not yet brought a compromise.

The Brazilian’s agent, Oscar Damiani, had recently stated that the two parties were close to an agreement, but the knee injury suffered by Dida in Athens has brought negotiations to a halt.

“I hope Dida renews his contract as soon as possible so we can stop all the rumours involving our goalkeepers,” said Galliani.

“If Dida opts not to sign for us then we will be forced to consider alternative options,” he added.

“Nelson is aware of our conditions and knows there are parameters that must be respected. Obviously he remains our first choice and if he stays with us he will be the No 1.”

The club have been linked with Marco Amelia of Livorno and AEK shot-stopper Stefano Sorrentino as possible Dida replacements, but Galliani insists they are not on their way after Christmas.

“There will be no arrivals in January,” added the chief. “We will not make any moves on the market because we hope that Dida will recover sooner than expected from his injury.”

Galliani was also asked to comment on Ramon Calderon’s latest Kaka pledge after the Real Madrid chief said he didn’t think his gravestone would say: ‘Here lies the man who did not bring Kaka to Madrid.’

“I don’t know what to say, I don’t like this gravestone talk,” responded the Rossoneri official.

“In any case, I will try to do all I can so that mine will one day say: ‘Here lies the man who kept Kaka at Milan.’”

I hope Dida signs an extension. He seemed to be returning to his best form before he got injured.

We should bring Amelia anyway...

If Dida signs a new deal, that would be a stupid move... Amelia is not a second choice GK... Plus, Dida has a good 3-4 more years in him.

I wouldn't change Dida with no-one else. I love this guy, we should consider ourselves lucky we've got him. Surely, he might be a little unsteady, but when I remember at all the times he's saved our @ss I say "Sign a new contract Nelson" king.gif

Of course but if he doesn't decide this by January then we have no other choice but to replace him. Even if he later decides he wants to stay.

The best option would be to buy Amelia in January and let him stay there till the end of the season, because if we wait until the summer to buy him it would be really tough because of more competition from other clubs. And considering our track record of how we recently held negotiations, I wouldn't wait for it to get messy during the summer.

Better make a clean, easy purchase in January

I'm not too keen on Amelia. Of course, he's a good goalie, but nowhere near the level of keepers like Dida, Buffon and Cech. If we were to sign a new goalkeeper I would go straight for Buffon, no matter his price.

Agreed.

Here are the keepers in the same rank as Dida:

Buffon, Cech, Van Der Sar, Casillas and maybe a couple more.

Then there are very good keepers like:

Amelia, De Sanctis, Frey, Valdes, Issakson, Stekelenberg and so on.

You get the picture.

He has said before that he want to be back to Brazil after his contract ends. I f he wanted to sign a new deal he would have done it already.
He is good this season but he is 33 already (more injury prone), was awful last year and I don't sure if he can play that good until 37.
If we don't sign Amelia now some other club will. If we are building a young team next year I would make Amelia a number one and buy some experience keeper to be a backup

I think there are other keepers much better and maybe cheaper than Amelia. Timo Hildebrand to mention one. Man, I don't understand why he's still playing for Stuttgart.

Dida’s agent denies deadline

Milan have not set a deadline for the renewal of Nelson Dida’s contract, according to the goalkeeper's agent.

Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani had told the Brazilian to make a quick decision on his future, as the club needed to know his intentions since his agreement ends in June 2007.

“There is no deadline – Milan need to make some decisions and, naturally, they want to know what Dida plans to do,” said Oscar Damiani.

“If Nelson will not sign then Milan will have to look for a new goalkeeper, but that doesn’t mean that they will sign someone tomorrow.

“There will still be time to discuss in the future and eventually find an agreement, but if that doesn't happen we will see what to do. Nelson wants to stay here, but sometimes that just isn’t enough.”

Meanwhile, Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa has declared that the Rossoneri prefer not to comment on the latest rumours regarding Andriy Shevchenko’s alleged return to the San Siro.

“Aside from the legal, technical and economical issues, we do not want to comment because we do not speak about players who belong to other clubs,” he stated.

“We do not know if what The Sun reported on Sheva’s personal situation is true or not, but this is just an additional reason for us to not speak about his possible return to Milan.”

IMO Buffon is in a league of his own!! He's been the best since he stepped on the green and I honestly can't recall a less-than-great game he had!!
Dida is amazing when he's in form but he has his ups and downs in (almost) every season and he's gone goofy a bunch of times...
As for Casillas, he is a very good goalkeeper but not a great one. He had had an exceptional season in 03-04 but other than that he's been "normal"... IMO Madrid would have had replaced him if he wasn't a "youth team lad"... (Something like Barcelona and Oleguer... only Oleguer is the worst player ever!! biggrin.gif )

Oleguer!!! LOL! That guy is another Kaladze. What a joke. Not even quality for Triestina.

Same for Valdés. They only have Valdés because it's their "Casillas"... (from the primavera team).

No no my friend... Kaladze is just too good when compared to the likes of Oleguer... but I guess every team has to take care of its lads... like we do with Maldini!! rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

Wow!! That really changed my mind about him... ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Nah. Not really. A nice video (I like that save in 3:46) but most of them saves are not that impressive. I still regard him as a very good keeper, that's all. And no I'm not going to say what you wrote above (although it is true) but I'm going to say that when I watch a compilation of Buffon or Dida I think they don't obey gravity. That's what separates a great keeper from a very good one!!

Hildebrand is still playing for Stuttgart because no one else wants him. Just one little reply to you and I'm back on the Dida Topic.

So basically what you're saying is Real spend those billions of Dollors in those short time spans only by using money generated by the clubs own pull. Right?

So the crest thing with the crown was a little far fetched from me, I admit it (btw Espanyol's crown is nothing like the royal's) but this is not a made up story about the royals. Everyone knows this. And what does this have to do with our hate for Real, Milan are backed by the richest man in Italy but I don't care, same goes for how I feel about where Real get their cash from. This is just a well known fact that's all.

btw I don't like arguing with you either, but I'm pretty certain about this issue and it's not because I dislike Real (which I don't, I just dislike their president)

Dida agent: No Blues contact

AC Milan goalkeeper Dida's agent claims he is not aware that Chelsea are tracking his client's services.
The Brazilian international is out of contract at the San Siro at the end of the season and the Blues have been linked with a summer swoop.

But Oscar Damiani, who represents Dida, said: "I'm not aware of any Chelsea interest at this moment in time.
"We haven't spoken to any other clubs, also because the rules don't allow us to and we have to respect the laws of the game.

"We'll be happy if Dida signs for Milan soon, otherwise we will consider all of our options from January."
