Tavano agent mentions Milan
Saturday 25 November, 2006

Valencia striker Francesco Tavano could join Milan in the January transfer window, his agent has insisted.

The Italian has failed to feature regularly for the Liga club since his summer switch from Empoli and a New Year return is expected.

Although Roma have been associated, his representative claims a Rossoneri switch is more likely.

“To have a request from Roma is something which we are proud of, but I don’t think there has been any contact to kick start the negotiations,” noted Stefano Guercini.

“However, there is the possibility that we will see Tavano back in Serie A after the Christmas break.

“Hopefully he could join Milan, a side who are following him and a team that Tavano really likes.

“Francesco is happy in Spain, but it is clear that Italy is in his heart.”

The player himself is keeping all of his options open and has revealed that he may know what lies ahead in the very near future.

“I’ve got a meeting scheduled with the club to discuss our plans in the next few days,” noted the creative striker. “I just hope this situation can be resolved soon.

“Where will I go? That really doesn’t matter. I would even stay with Valencia so long as I am considered on a par with everyone else.”

He's a good player but I think our problems are larger than him...

Our problems are bigger then everybody right now

Still a welcome player.

Right now we need all the help we could get, and that means, this is no time to be picky

I would prefer Di Natale better. But as han said, right now we need all the help we could get, so he's welcome.

I'd welcome him.

Pure speculation IMO

I'd rather a quality right back and centre half as first buys anyway.

From the quote I highlighted I'd say yes. I can't see the point of signing someone just for the sake of it, if he was a quality player then it would be a different matter...

Tavano sets deadline

Valencia striker Francesco Tavano has revealed that he will make a decision on his future in the next month.

The 27-year-old has struggled to settle in Spain since his £7m summer move from Empoli, making his debut for the club only 20 days ago in the Copa del Rey.

He is reportedly a target for Roma, Milan, Torino, Napoli and Inter, as well as Premiership sides Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham.

“I had no idea of the situation I would end up in,” said the player to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I am in the middle of a conflict between Amedeo Carboni, the sporting director who chose me, and Coach Quique Flores.

“I didn’t know that the relationship between the two of them was not good,” added the former Empoli man.

“If things will not change in the next month I will decide what to do and eventually consider a return to Serie A.

“I have read that there are several clubs interested in my services – his flatters me because it means that I did well in the past.

“I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to move to Spain, it seemed a dream come true.

“Then I had some problems and I was not granted any playing time, but I never complained to the Coach as he must make these kinds of decisions.

“Anyhow, I have a contract with Valencia and if I were to leave this club I would prefer to move from Spain,” added the 27-year-old, who appeared in the Liga match against Real Madrid over the weekend.

“I spoke to the Italians in the squad, I complimented Fabio Cannavaro for the Golden Ball and then I also chatted a bit with Antonio Cassano.

“He wasn’t happy and looked depressed, but I think it’s normal – I know exactly what he is feeling,” concluded Tavano

Valencia confirm Tavano exit

Francesco Tavano is set to leave Valencia on a loan deal in January, confirmed the club’s sporting director Amedeo Carboni.

The 27-year-old striker has struggled to settle in Spain since his £7m summer move from Empoli, fuelling increasing speculation that he might leave the giants as early as next month.

“There are at least five Spanish clubs that are interested in Tavano’s services,” said Carboni, currently in Italy for tonight’s Champions League tie against Roma, to Sky Italia.

“Milan? I don’t want to specify any names out of respect. In January we will evaluate the offers that might be important for Valencia, who own the player, as well as for those who are requesting him,” added the official.

Tavano, who has yet to score with the Spanish outfit, only made his debut in November in the Copa del Rey win over Portuense.

The former Empoli man had stated in the past that he was eager to prove to Valencia that the investment made during the summer was not misguided, but he could not rule out a return to Italy if that meant a move to an important club.

The player’s agent Stefano Guercini also confirmed that a loan or a co-ownership deal in January would probably mean a return to the peninsula.

Tavano is reportedly a target for Milan, Torino, Napoli and Inter, as well as Premiership sides Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham.

He won't be available for the Champions, right? I would rather go for Suazo or Di Natale.
